Heavens to Murgatroyd...the Ghost MV1 is a really impressive package from the minute it arrives. I like the DHL service a lot, it was stupid fast. The box came with the cruciblenholder, fast charger, battery, and the MV1 itself. The packing is very nice, the box is lovely. I just kinda took it apart to get the battery on the charger ASAP. The wait ended about 20 minutes ago. I am wicked blazed, but will return to that later.
The Stealth is sexy. And heavy. It really fits in among the Mighty and Crafty outer space powertool aesthetic, but much nicer. Like an Audi staring at a Lada. Or a Makita drill against Master Craft. The thing is a murdered out bludgeon that you use to chill out. I dig.
I took everything out that I wanted (concentrate pad) but thought the picks were s nice touch. I also disassembled and cleaned everything while charging. The thing is pretty simple, really. Assembly and disassembly wasn't as onerous as I had feared from some of the reviews. A little leary about the gasket, but otherwise I am impressed by the whole system. I played gently with the door for a bit and it will take a while to really get used to and comfortable with that mechanism. The crucible is fine. A little fiddly but I don't think it is much more annoying than packing most other vapes bowls. Getting the pack and load size and grind will require some experimentation but other than my second bowl which was very lightly packed it has been a treat. The stem is also totally alright. I would love for it to be black glass and fit just right. I am a tad worried about pulling it too far out and losing it. A back up stem in the package would be ideal.
The base level control scheme is actually awesome. The temps are more or less how I step it up on the Mighty or any other portable. I start somewhere around 170-175 and then go up to the mid 80s, then the 200s for some crushing. I don't really care that I need an app for degree be degree control nearly as much as the Crafty, which is again fine once you dial it in but particularly lacking. So the Ghost approach to the app vs. onboad controls is at the very least adequate and convenient. The temperature controls should come before the battery life indicator in my books (and I thought I read somewhere you cam change this through the app but I might be full of shit) but again this is minor. I would also like the option of dimming the lights and turning off the light while vaping. Easy enough to cover with your finger though. The thing fits the hand well, I gotta say.
The crucibles also cool down to a comfortable handling temperature remarkably fast. I really like that and I have not been afraid of burns after a reasonable 20 to 30 second wait after my last hit at the first red light. I can see how for some users it will be difficult or impossible to work this vape. I hope that can be addressed.
Any gripes I have with this vape so far are reqlly god damned minor. And I can't gripe about the vapour quality. Delicious. And the potency? An atrocity. I have been owned. I ran through 3 crucibles using different packs, starting temps, and such, and I feel remarkably enlightened in my thinking and feelings. You can totally push it with this if you choose to. I look forward to having it as a big quick hit around the house for when the log vape isn't on. Definitely for beside the bed.
Hits are consistently smooth and flavorful. I have some decent stuff I bought in bulk and it is certainly not doing this thing justice to have something so subdued. But man, does it hit. I cough but only because the vapour is hitting me like a bag of hammers. It is not irritating at all. I am quite interested in using it through an Orbiter. I really like that idea.
All in all, I am super happy I have this thing. It is hard to say if it is worth every penny. I think that the fast charger should come with the base unit given the long charging time or a discount should be given for a purchase of the charger when buying the vape initially. At least at this price point. The bundle addresses this but the charge time via USB seems unbearable. This doesn't impact me. I am awesome and won q bundle, but I can see for the Uncle Steves (my analogue for basically impatient dudes) of the world that this would make the base package much harder to say no to.
This is a heavy hitter, perhaps too intense for some. Not in terms of discomfort but just from effectiveness. If my dad's friend came to me for a recommendation, I'd just point them to a Mighty or new gen Arizer if they said they were willing to spend whatever. But for any hardcore stoner this is a really fun unit. I haven't taken it out and about quite yet, but I imagine it will do a good job. Changing crucibles may be a bit of a pain on the go, but Crafty lasts 3 sessions om average. Gotta take my lumps.
Plus the company treats customers very well from my limited experience. Responsive and helpful and engaged. I'm not sure I would have ever bought this without trying it first, which would have been unlikely with my super weak friend group. But yeah, I am a believer.
