Last night, I almost finished my bottle before the battery gave up the ghost.

16 loads. impressive.

I cursed when I saw the red light, but then realized it's just the battery. Ran it flat. Oops. Put it on charger and put my head on pillow.

Bath time this morning. Not many parts. Didn't really need it, but just testing. Easy using same technique I use for S&B parts, iso baggie resting in bowl of very hot water for 5 min, shlosh, rinse well.

Still not sold on this vape. For me, it's been a fine line between ghostly hits and charcoal aftertaste big hits. Probably user error, because I suck at vaping -- being honest here. I've been through a number of highly rated vapes that I just couldn't handle, but others love. I'll keep trying. Waiting for the app.

By the way, I've found using it left handed avoids contact with hot swinging door part.

I've found that having a spiny little brush to push out the little specks of weed and oil on the top plate between bowls keeps performance solid. Extra step but worth it if you only use the one crucible. Hit it steady and long. Also a dry fine grind works for me with it 80% full for some air room in the top portion of that bowl. MONEY!

Hi guys - got one early but I'm late to the game in using and posting about it. Crazy week and I don't have much time now. This is pretty much the same post I made over on Bud's site.

I just tried my first chamber with it. I was in bad shape yesterday and in no mood to fiddle with a new vape and there were circumstance that dictated I couldn’t get to it earlier even though I received it last Thursday.

Load was .1 g (est.) of Sour Tangie, my regular grind which is the NV fine grinder, my regular dry and store moisture level, nothing different. I did NOT prepare this herb for the MV-1. This is what I run in pretty much everything.

I just quit after four magnificent draws on level 2 (two amber lights). No shit, even the first hit was highly visible and dense. All hits were smooth and cool....not a cough to be had. I had to quit after four, I have to function today and I'm high as a kite (ok, I'm medicated...but I'm REALLY high! LOL).

Let me repeat, dense, visible, cool, smooth, no cough, from the start on level 2!! Whoot Whoot (I never do this shit…wow LOL)

I know others will disagree, but my view is that MJ vapor is visible. It reflects light across a wide spectrum and that’s why it looks white. I have never bought into that idea that a vape is delivering the goods without visible exhaust. Even THC distillate, with is pure THC without the water vapor and all the other stuff we boil out of herb, gives off white vapor when dabbed. No visible vapor and I immediately think of The Emperor’s New Clothes.

It was no problem with the MV-1 with this load of this herb (only my first load…a sample of one, yeah) I got very visible and dense vapor from the start (yeah, I’m getting repetitious but I’m really buzzed)

Taste started to tail off on the third draw but I expect that and there is no such thing as magic when it comes to compound boiling points. You either boiled it off, or you didn't yet. Fourth draw was still dense so I believe there is a fifth draw in there and that's one of my test use cases for 'on-demand'...that is, can I walk away from it like a pipe and then just come back and successfully hit it later.

So, I have not opened the chamber as I want to run this load out first, but I really don't give a dang how my AVB looks (I'm really trying to clean up my language here...and my combative attitude while I'm at it LOL). This is like a E-nano size load...maybe a bit bigger. If all I ever got out of a load was these four draws, then I'd perfectly happy. I know it’s not burnt or charred in there (well, I don’t know but I sure haven’t tasted any hint of it)

I didn't think about draw speed, I just drew like felt normal. I had the MP fully extended or damn close to it and got that little burbling sound which doesn't bother me a bit. I did not treat this device in any special way…I just used it which is what I expect from an appliance and it worked great.

Look, you know me....I'm not a cheerleader, I am critical and nitpicky as heck. AND, this is only my first bowl. But I’m sitting here grinning like the Cheshire Cat. If I was at a show or convention, and had a chance to just try the MV-1 for the first time and got this experience, I would be immediately buying one.

I'm not going to do the MV-1 vs Mighty comparison...I think it’s unfair to both companies. Both are great vapes. I really like my Mighty for that go to bed, 'sedation and pain', session. Cause that's what I want at that point in time, a .2 - .25 g session. It’s perfect for that.

But when I wake up in at 2 in the morning in pain and want some really effective and quick hits to put me back to bed, the MV-1 will be my choice. Daytime, can't beat it (except I'm way too blasted right now for this time of day! LOL).

Now, I still stand my constructive criticism regarding the crucible lid and the controls/displays. Lid must have some degree of retention and I think something as simple as making the tabs fit inside of the crucible with a bit of a friction fit would do it. People have dismissed retaining the lid for reasons such as the complexity and failure modes of tiny hinges…but it need not be anywhere that complex. Wrt to display and controls, so me and Ghost have a difference in design aesthetics. To me a vape is primarily a tool, not a symbol of my life style. So I want straight forward controls and displays that provide the resolution I want and to this end, one button for all modes/values and one set of idiot lights does not satisfy. To me, proper controls would be an on/off, up, and down button coupled with a display that showed temp and battery charge. But, neither of these criticisms are impacting my ability to use and enjoy my new vape. I would offer them to Ghost as future feature requests.

P.S. - I did just open the chamber and everything was quite evenly browned but it does look like a 5th hit is in there.

Quality of vapor is next level...
Adds a kick ( high wise) to all strains tested so far.
I will probably vape at level 2 90% of the time
Had my MV1 for 5 days now, not one issue as of yet
Yeah, level 2 seems quite sufficient and that is so surprising as I'm a fairly higher temp guy (385 is sort of my default) and I think level 2 is 360 F but you couldn't tell from the vapor production.

Cheers

Great feedback on the MV1..
Agree vapor does not feel like 360 f at all, heat sink really doing its job.
I love my conduction vapor , and will still reach for my IQ daily, as its a type of vapor I crave , as I crave a good convection hit.
Only reason to use my Firefly 2 is a reminder why I bought the MV1
( kiddin, I still like me ff2, just probably wont reach for it much)

Received my mv1 yesterday. After a full charge I gave it a little slight cleaning to remove anything left from manufacturing. Mine had a noticeable smell from silicone which I expected to an extent. I took the mouthpiece out and the heat sink and decided to take a peak at the heater with it out and glowing and got a faint burning smell. I assume this was just remnants of manufacturing oils etc. Finally put it back together and filled up the crucible and set it to level 1 for flower. Got it fired up and waited for the vibration and took a 15 second pull. Pleasantly surprised with the amount of visible vapor. Flavor was decent, but still tasted a faint silicone smell. Went for pull number 2 and pretty much the same. Draw resistance was almost zero with the mouthpiece pulled all the way out and I really liked that. Door to crucible was difficult to open for sure and I had to use two fingers to open it. I liked the noise it makes while heating because it was clear it was on and I like that. The unit is heavy, not something you'll want to carry in your pants pocket. What I can say though is that I had zero trouble with getting vapor and I was zonked with only those 2 pulls, lol. I needed absolutely nothing else. I played with the crucible empty to get used to getting it in and out and although a little weird and awkward, it was ok. I wish it was a little easier to handle though. I didn't get the finicky issues as I did nothing different than my other vapes, ff2 pax2/3 etc. I noticed zero smell from the mv1 as well, nothing like the pax. My mouthpiece grinds every time I move it, it's clearly rubbing against the ceramic piece in the heat sink. I will have that replaced. I used my gr8tr grinder in the medium/coarse grind as I always do. It does what it is supposed to for me. A little heavy, a little awkward to load. I want the app as well because I like the lower temps and would prefer to have more control. Vapor was very cool, and I didn't use it enough to get hot. The two pulls I took were more than enough for my needs. Will report back later

My frustration and disappointment has grown.

People often say how important the quality of your herb is. In honor of the Ghost, I ground up some top shelf G's and let them dry overnight: Girl Scout Cookies, Grape Stomper, Goji OG, and even Ghost Train Haze. Here are the G-Spots

afUq5IRm.jpg

Heat level two. (yes, amber not red) Textbook hotspot tunneling convective air flow. And that char taste, ugg.

pZyW9Z2m.jpg

Used my magnetic pickup tool to lift off the lid. Have fun stirring. No, I'm not packing too tight. Tried poking with toothpick, tried 80% fill. Even play pastry chef and sprinkle the herb. Sheesh.

About the app -- why would it reset our levels 1-3 to "normal." Something doesn't add up. The app doesn't control the lower heat settings, right? so why would it affect my levels 1-3?

I even tried leaving it on level one, and sure it's flavorful. But that's it. Like I said. I suck at vaping. Yes, I tried sucking slower and harder and longer and shorter. To Hell with this sucking, I need a drink. I'm done. Don't want to be called a Ghostbuster.

My understanding was the app allowed you to set temp? And ghost has said since the app wasn't available when the units first were going out they "unlocked" two heat settings. So that maybe why some are running hotter. Software update when the app comes out may make a diff. Deff would frustrate me to see charring on the lower temps.

Who ya gonna call??! Haha I think your on to something @ChooChooCharlie

@VCBud - Can you please compare the vapor taste to a Cloud EVO, I really wonder if its in the same league, that would be insane...

Personally I feel it's up there with the best, very comparable to top tier desktop units.

Hey @VCBud or any other members with one, can you show some photos of the ABV after a season at the higher temp?

QUICK CLEANING TIP:

The stainless steel crucible lid is actually the only part that needs semi-frequent cleaning for optimum performance, I'd estimate once every ~6-10 sessions for most people. If you don't want to mess with the whole ISO cleaning process every time there's a very quick way to clean off your lid and open up all of the pores if they're clogged with residue, this is what I do myself, I grab it with tweezers and run it under hot water for ~5 seconds:

Hey the app is going to fix all the heat settings, because during the unlocking the lower heat levels were affected on some units. However, that's a very small photo but that does indeed look like it's too tightly packed to me, if air isn't able to flow through and around all of your herb then it will find the path of least resistance. You pack looser in this vape than most others which I think is what's throwing some people off. If packing looser and loading less doesn't get you better results then let's get a new unit in your hands, please send Ghost a message about it and copy me, they'll take care of you.

Here are my first impressions and unboxing of the Ghost MV1. I am currently waiting for the initial quick charge to do its magic, so I am about 2-1/2 hours away from a test drive. I hope this may give potential buyers a bit more insight into the overall MV1 experience. I promise to report back after I've loaded it up and given it some heat.

I was on the fence with this vape. I trust VC, but agree there may be a bit too much personal interest vested in his review. This has been discussed at length and I don't feel the need to elaborate on it anymore. At the end of the day, I know a reviewer still has to stand behind their words, which gave me a bit more clarity on the situation. I received my introductory email and sat on it for a day or two. The only option available when you try and order the MV1 is 'standard shipping.' I needed a bit more precise window. Thank god for FC. I reached out to both @Greenmagic and @S0L0m0n to see how long transit takes. They both responded with excellent information (Thanks again!) and I pulled the trigger on Saturday, fully expecting a Wednesday delivery based on their feedback. For the record, I DID try and reach out to Ghost via their website to ask about the shipping before turning to FC. I still have not received an answer. FC for the win. Late Monday, I get tracking information and it confirms Wednesday delivery. As predicted, today at 10:40am, I receive my Ghost MV1.

YmiTuhD.jpg

Impressive packaging. Comes with a decent amount of bubble wrap to keep things from breaking. I was very impressed with the presentation of the MV1. The packaging feels premium and there is a strong sense of satisfaction while revealing the newest vape in the collection.

T14ryQm.jpg

Of course, I get the battery removed and the charge started right away. I'd say about 10:45am, the charge started. There is a red dot staring me down as I type. According to the instructions, I am waiting for a green light before I can start.

J8r1fay.jpg

There is some weight to this app. Yes, it does give that 'premium' feel, which is important with a vape that sets you back a few hundred bucks. Think of holding one of the old plastic shell versions of a Samsung Galaxy Phone vs the way they feel now. That is what the weight difference is like. It just feels better in the hand. From a portability perspective, this isn't so great. While the MV1 is slightly shorter than The Mighty, it is almost twice as thick. I have been known to throw The Mighty into the pocket of some cargo shorts in the past. It wasn't ideal, The Mighty would bang against my leg from time to time, but nothing horrible. No way in hell, I would try that with the MV1. Not only would the extra weight make the device strike my leg harder, it just isn't as 'compact' as The Mighty. I use that word loosely, only because The Mighty is fairly flat when compared to the bulkier MV1.

***Still waiting for that charge to complete***

This doesn't mean I can't get prepared. First things first - the app. It....is.....where the fuck is this app? The Quick Start Guide tells you to go to the Ghost Vapes website. OK cool. On website. Click on 'ABOUT THE APP.' Still nothing. No links, just a description of how great the app is and all of the things it will do for you. THIS DOESN'T HELP ME. Head to Vape Life forum - nothing. Head to the Google App Store. There's the Crafty App. There's the PAX App. There's the Firefly App (still pissed that this one won't actually upgrade my vape due to some random connection issue, but that is a fight for another day.) Where is this Ghost App? Their site says it will be available at the end of August 2017 *looks at calendar* ahem. I messaged @VCBud for direction before doing a deeper search on the Vape Life forum. This is the 9/16/17 update from the Ghost team:

Dear Vape Life Members
App availability and unlocked levels 4&5
We are pleased to advise that the Ghost App will be available on Android and iOS shortly.
Please note that in advance of this we have been unlocking all MV1’s prior to shipment.
This means that you will be able to use all 5 dry herb settings and of course concentrate setting 6 out of the box.
Some units may be running slightly hot on level 5 but this will revert back to default as soon as you download the App and pair your device.
Downloading the App will also enable you to customise settings 4&5 in 1-degree increments, together with a host of other features.
The Team @ghost

I decided to look into some of the issues @ohmygodimsohigh ran into as I wait for the battery to charge. Did I get a 'grit shit' stem? Yup. Just as he described, when I extend the glass stem, there is an all too unpleasant scratchy, gritty sound that is like nails on a chalkboard when dealing with a $300 vape for the first time. It seems that Ghost Vapes is looking into a solution to this issue. It certainly isn't a deal breaker, but I would like to avoid this sound in the future if at all possible. Additionally, the heat sink just came out when I was trying to extend the stem. Like, no resistance at all. I'm not sure how much this is going to annoy me once I get to using the vape. Time will tell.

U6gTe1W.jpg

Let's get this chamber loaded. See what the fuss is all about. The button to release this chamber is where my thumb in placed. It is more of a sliding button rather than one you would push straight down on. Push down and to the right a bit. Push a little harder. There....you.....go. It's open. See, that was easy, right? OK, it isn't AS BAD as I am making it sound, but you will need to give it a good push to open things up. While loading the MV1 may work well in theory, it is certainly another strike against portability. There is no way I see myself using this while out and about. It is too much work and I can EASILY see somebody dropping the crucible and losing everything that was loaded inside. No bueno. I went with the @ohmygodimsohigh method of scooping the material into the bowl after giving it a loose grind. I'm thinking I can add a little more to this bowl, but want to ensure things aren't packed too tight for the maiden voyage. Closing the chamber, there is a slight click to let you know the latch has secured the crucible. It isn't loud, but you can actually see the button shift, letting you know all is well before heating things up.

Now, it is just a waiting game. Once the battery is ready, I will begin the fun part of getting a new vape. As for now, I hope this breakdown helps anybody who is on the fence about picking up a Ghost MV1. Feel free to hit me up with any questions you may have. I've never really reviewed a vape before and don't know all of the technical jargon that comes up. I'm just a guy who likes a vaporizer that provides a great experience. If I can help others do the same, I am all for it.

***UPDATE****

Battery fully charged. Took right at 2 hours. Not bad at all. Pack the battery in, reread instructions on how to power up....fail. I mean, it powered up, but I could tell I was missing something. Realized I needed to give three quick taps soon after getting the battery to glow green. I swear I already read about that. Guess I got caught in the moment and forgot. I figure out how to get things rolling and go for it. Admittedly, I have no idea what the 'out of the box' default setting is. I just went with it. The MV1 buzzes, I draw with the glass stem tall. There is this wispy bong sound that I hear while waiting for the second buzz. It was kind of cool. The electronic buzzing sound that comes from the vape itself was unnoticeable. Again, outdoors with a nice breeze hitting the trees. Gives you a bit of an idea of how mellow this buzz really is. I did listen for it later and notice what people were talking about.

The only downside was in trying to figure out how to get this started I did want to ensure I had everything in the right place. In doing this I went to battle with the release latch. This thing can be quirky. It was tough to open, made even more difficult was my thumb slipping on the chrome finish. Problem solved rather quickly, but worth noting.

The first handful of draws were outstanding. Flavor was on point. It tasted so good, it makes me want to go back to old strains and retaste them with the MV1. Seriously great flavor that holds up through the entire session. I found my first draw had the most visible vapor. These clouds don't seem to last though. As far as the buzz for me? I knew something was happening with the 2nd draw. I could have easily been happy stopping at 3. Went 5 because...research. It is a solid, solid buzz. Very much in my head and feeling functional on a local level.

Opened up the crucible to take a peek. Very even heating throughout, with a surprisingly decent amount of green still visible. I gave things a stir, which ultimately helped, but I'm not sure was needed. Draw #6-8 and had to stop. There was a slight increase in visible vapor after the stir, but all hits remained fairly consistent - solid flavor, great effects. I had to stop. Even after 8 draws, this crucible still looks like it can go 2 more. Very impressive.

Thanks for the suggestions.

@VCBud - I should have taken a "before" pic. Looked just like yours. I delicately sprinkle from a couple inches above crucible, give it some side taps, never tamp. Think "after" pics will just appear tamped. I sent Ghost a message, and I'll PM you, thanks!

@ShayWhiteGrow - yes, it was just cleaned.

Guess this is a true manual effort style vape, complete with stirring. Press buttons, press another button to draw, carefully stir, repeat. Know some folks love this kind of manual vape, love mastering a set of optimal techniques, and love the ability to combust or get really dark abv. I highly recommend it to those vaporists out there. It's just not for me. Stirring? With this crucible design?

I would say true convection is not for everyone. And it's been proven time and time again. Everything you listed @ChooChooCharlie as far as what's needed to run at optimal levels sounds spot on in all true convection portables. IMO. It just goes to show that conduction/convection hybrids will always be very very popular.

To be honest the reviews have gone pretty much as expected. IMO. A few don't care as much for it and most really like it. Plus a few gripes that seem fairly legitimate. All in all not to bad. Still not for me but maybe Ghosts next model will be.

On the waiting list for one of these, read the reviews, good and bad, ive come to the conclusion it sounds like a vape that isn't to be missed, i just hope by the time they send me the email to purchase the app is up and running and a few of the problems are sorted!

Pardon me if I ask a question that may seem foolish- been a lot of noise generated about vape apps not being available for download due to the recent restrictions, is it possible there won't be an app? Maybe this is the root of the problem of why the app isn't being released?

Just a quick update:
I've been in contact with the guys at Ghost.
It seems that the unit I received has some additional issues that were missed in QA.
The main issue is the leaking heatsink, which is causing ghost hits AND overheating.

A new device is on its way. If all confirmed, I will remove old video and replace with new.
I feel a lot better about the situation after talking with them on the phone.

In the interest of fairness, how about you suspend or make an introductory amendment to your current video until you get your new unit & can reassess? I suggest an intro. mentioning the leaking heat sink which you suspect is causing the ghost hits & overheating.
