Mv1 on the way, number 671 I think I was. Hopefully it's all it's cracked up to be
That's awesome @toked23 . I'm reading nothing but positive things about it so far. Can you share what date you originally placed your reservation ? Before the confirmation email ? Just trying to see what day they are on in terms of processing. I was sort of late so may miss the 1st 2K Units. Thanks

Very new to FC but thought I'd chime in. I received my Ghost last night, fast charged in 2 hours. Out of the box on setting 1 and I took one hit off of it and was blown away. So far I cannot contest anything VapeCritic or Ghosts advertised about this vape. It's amazing, but it's still new. I've only vaped 1 crucible so far. Highly impressed at this point. It was very easy to use, easy to grab, take a hit and move on with what I was doing. For those who are waiting for their shipment, enjoy. For those on the fence...this thing is real. It is not a device, it's a fucking MACHINE!

How sturdy is the crucible lid? How difficult is it to take out?

How sturdy is the crucible lid...well I don't know exactly what you're asking but it's not flimsy. It's not going to be easily bent. As for how the lid sits on the crucible. It literally just sets on the top.
As for the difficulty of removal. It does take a few tries to get it but it's easily mastered. They will come out with a new lid/crucible in the near future if I were to take a guess. Not that it's horrible, or difficult, but because it's also not easy and convenient. Each time it gets easier and easier though.

Just curious what the charging currents from each of the chargers is?

Assume the USB is somewhere between 0.5amps - 1.5amps.

Anyone got actual figures?

The fast charger adapter says Output 12V 1500mAh on it, it charges the battery pack 2-3x faster than usb (I did ask if there was anything they could do to improve charge time over usb)

In the second picture, the green parts are silicone right? If true how can they claim "- No plastics or electronics in vapor path" ?

If it's the case it reminds me the Ascent where I was fooled into believing their "all glass vapor path" where in reality it's all glass, tons of silicone and some exposed plastic.

Then that part: "Just log into your account to lock or unlock the device, safe in the knowledge that no-one will be able to use your MV1 without your say-so." How does that work? The only mean I can think of would be a centralized web server and having the vape connect to it every-time it powers up, since it's not possible to have it work the other way round (i.e. the server has no clue where the device is and can't send messages to it)

This is quite puzzling... without Internet access. Has the device some sort of Wi-Fi connectivity? I hope the answer is no otherwise the privacy implications would be huge (seeing not a single giant Internet company is able to safely store our personal data, as illustrated by the major hacks and breaches reported every couple of months in the media)

Yes the green parts are medical grade silicone, the incoming cool air touches the silicone but the hot vapor only touches the heat sink, ceramic insert, and glass mouthpiece.

I believe what they mean is that you can lock and unlock the vape with your phone via bluetooth, not that it would be done from their website, which I agree would be weird and I wouldn't be comfortable with doing.

No matter how awesome the vape is otherwise, it is off my list because of the app. Security issues are important--especially until cannabis is well accepted in society. I understand I'm old and still scared about turning over all my information to others and the youngun's don't seem to much care so I'm probably not the target market. (To steal a meme; I'm of the generation that got mad if you read my diary. Today, people get mad if you don't.)

That being said, is unauthorized use of vapes really a problem? Maybe it's just the crowds I hang out with but I've never heard anyone, even in the back of their minds, wish for such a feature. Also, if someone gets access to the password/app/account, can they brick the vape?

I'm part of that borderline generation where I can appreciate new technology but I'm very skeptical of it, so I do understand how you feel about it.

From what I understand you can uninstall the app once you connect it to the vape initially to register it.

@Stu , et al - what happened to the thread in the pre-release section? I thought that they normally just moved the thread over to the regular section when it was released??

@VCBud - nope, its not scraping against the silicone in the heat sink. The glass MP is scraping on the ceramic in the heat sink and Ghost has acknowledged that they tightened the tolerance of that opening a bit too much and will be sending out replacement parts after tooling is modified.

P.S. - while I hear a little bit of scratching, it has NOT scratched up my glass MP at all. Key right now is to pull the MP straight out being careful not to angle it to any side and its OK.

All - As far as my two main gripes, the lid not latching and the display/controls.

I will get used to one button/idiot lights and will be able to operate the vape without problems, but I still think that design is sub-optimum. This falls into just a preference...a difference of design philosophy, if you will.

The lid not latching is, IMO, a serious issue for anybody with with dexterity issues or movement disorders. Those medical marijuana patients will not like the current design at all as will not a number of other people once they dump a load on their carpet trying to get it into the device. I understand that Ghost feels that there is a technical performance reason for the current implementation, but they need to trot that reason out to the community. IMO, it better be a REAL BIG REASON to justify the trade off of this fiddly lid design.

Probably not, but what about locking it up so little johnny doesn't take it out for a spin with his playground friends? Or, if it got stolen. I too wonder how this is implemented. A simple lock over bluetooth from the app would do for the former condition and I don't think there will be so many vapes stolen to make this a very useful feature...but who knows?

I share the concern about how you can lock and unlock a device from Ghost's website. Just exactly how was this implemented? Exactly what is the signalling path?

Mine is charging on the fast charger right now.

Package is first class and so far all of my dealing with Ghost have been excellent. Rather like these guys even though we differ on how some features/functions were implemented.

Vape feels VERY solid and well built in my hand. Yes, there is silicone to seal against...I believe....the swing arm and indeed will be in the vapor path. It doesn't alarm me, personally, but we are all entitled to our own material fears and fetishes.

Well, until it gets charged and I use it, that's all for now.

You're right I was mistaken about the mouthpiece scratching sound, my apologies about that, Ghost has acknowledged the issue and is already working on it, anybody affected by this problem will be taken care of free of charge.

That looks like a case for pre-loaded crucibles... have you tried that out yet, @VCBud ?

I haven't been able to try one yet but I held a prototype and it was pretty cool, I believe it's already in production and should be available relatively soon.

The "Lock My Vape" feature was mainly put in for those who have kids around and wouldn't want them messing with it.

So.. an EU order placed, will update on shipping/packaging/duty&tax etc. from the U.S.
I wonder when it will be available from a domestic market. Also wonder about orderable quantity,
as the option is there in the "Cart", also - if multiple purchase available - will I get the free fast charger with each device?

If you're on the waiting list and you received an email from Ghost already with the link to place your order then yes you would receive a fast charger with each vape you ordered.

It also has hinges to help keep the lid in place. It does not lock on though, so you have to be slightly careful as you insert it.

Makes sense, until you get to the part where these same kids just go and combust a doobie.

thats one of the reasons my pax 3 annoys me, but I dont use the app anymore so, even though registering it and checking it out a few times already annoys me from a privacy perspective.

Alright, after about 2 hours of charging, I just had my first session. So far I am just stunned. It's shiny and looks premium to me, the materials feel good in your hand. The shape feels good in the hand. Compared to my mighty, for example, which I love, it feels and looks much better.

It was easy to load, but takes more care. It's easy to insert the crucible without spilling.

The glass mouthpiece makes a slight noise when I raise it; but company is already fixing it.

Which btw, that glass against my lips was the next defining feature from me, as I usually use the mighty. That glass feels better than plastic. It's like the difference between a glass or plastic coke bottle.

The taste is very good. The first few hits tasted completely pure, then it tastes like Vaped material the later small hits. I tried setting 3 and then 5. It tastes way better than the mighty vaporizer.

I'm not sure if the flavor is better than the Firefly 2. But vapor is cooler. And draw resistance of the mv1 is better than the mighty or firefly2.

I also love how easy to use it is. I had no problems getting hits. I didn't have any failed attempt or learning curve. Just get that crucible full and loose with a course grind.

The other thing that I noticed was how quickly I could vape all the material. I love this. Sometimes I'm in a hurry, and I think it might save time. Just my initial thoughts after a single use. I won't have more time with it until late Saturday.

It seems that the battery will be under some small load in sleep mode. I.e. monitoring buttons For a press. For me that means disengage battery when not using?

I know everyone wants a comparison between the mv1 and the mighty. But what about against the grasshopper? Forget comparing the reliability cuz grasshopper will probably lose by a country mile. And yes, i heard the mv1 vapor is smooth as butter compared to the sometimes harsh vapour of the grasshopper. What about the effects? Since it looks like the crucible is about the same size as the gh chamber, which has a more powerful effect?

Also, is the 15sec cutoff per draw enough? Can u restart the heater again as soon as the 15secs are up to extend the draw further or will that burn out the heater?

Thanks

Ok I just got my Ghost MV1, and I think I might have a lemon. In the videos I saw, the coil would warm up and give off an orange glow. I have loaded some green crack in the crucible, and I have set it on setting level 2-4, and although the Ghost gets a little warm, nothing has vaporized. Is their something I am doing wrong? Please help!

yes fully charged. I wanted to use this without the app, so I have to download the app in order to get this working?

Not disappointed at all, Stoked so far.
Mine has been charged now for around 4 hours. Done 3 crucibles I believe, with 3 or 4 nice tokes a load, starting my 4th now.
Compared to my Mighty, it is smoother. Love packing about a 3rd or less of what I'd load in Mighty.
Compared to my Omni, with woodscent or cap, I would say those are more like the Mighty than the Ghost, so far I'd say the Ghost is different for sure.
It extracts and delivers, heavy and quick yet smooth.
Love that you can just move the glass in or out to get less (in) or more (out) draw; this plays right into the 15 second hitting cycle (how long you can hold button once it vibrates for you to begin hit), at first I was continuing to draw after the 15 seconds but by pulling mouthpiece out slightly further on the next toke I was done hitting at 15 seconds and holy heavy hitting(!).
The flavors felt sticky, remained in mouth and reminds me of a lingering super fresh green bong rip, flavors though without the harhsness or roughness.

Concerns I have are:
-the door of the crucible seems potentially at risk, just cause it is light and small.
-the button to open/release it is super tough and sometimes I have to use both hands with effort to open it. Assuming with some use that'll resolve itself.
-the unit gets quite warm in the hand after some tokes, on second load; hoping this isn't an issue and that I won't need more than 2 loads at a time, very often.
-unsure I'd take it with me snowboarding or riding my bike (gonna stick with Omni for such); durability even though it feels very sturdy?

@Stormsend -that is not cool. You are holding the button down and waiting for the second vibration (seconds later) before drawing, while continuing to hold the button down for up to 15 seconds more, which is when it'll stop heating.

I think the app has not been released yet.

Was able to get it working (Did not know the top piece with glass attachment needs to sit flush on the ghost...anyway, this hits like a champ. Very smooth and cool. This thing works as well as advertised. Better than my Mighty in many ways, which I use everyday.

Ok so I had to watch some videos and still am not getting it. I am having a difficult time removing and putting the top piece back in. I have no been able to vaporize anything yet. When I remove the crucible and the top piece, I can see the coil turning orange and also I hear the buzzing. When I insert the top piece and crucible, I try to inhale and I have not seen any vapor and no buzzing sound. The front light is also green but when I press the vape button, it flashes red and nothing happens. :( what am I doing wrong?

Make sure the glass mouthpiece, and the silver heatsink are pushed in far enough.
The silver heatsink should be flush with the top of the body of the unit. If it slips upwards, it no longer seals and you get a 'ghost' hit.

You're probably doing it right but here's a description walk through.

With the top piece put together snug, the top piece should be near to flush with the top brim of the unit, when in place.
Load your crucible gently, place it in its spot with lid, close.
Turn the unit on by clicking the front button 3 times, Green LEDS come on.
Skipping over, checking battery level (hold front button down briefly), or changing heat level (after checking batter level, hold button down again till you see orange levels 1, 2, or 3 (when you see red, that is levels 4, 5, and 6), click again to change level.
When you're ready to use it, 'press and hold' the button on the back, it'll quickly vibrate right when you press the button, it'll heat and vibrate again when ready (5-10 seconds), 'continue pressing the button' and -begin hitting-, it will vibrate 15 seconds later and at that point holding the button down doesn't continue doing anything.
