Discontinued Ghost MV1

Vapenic

Gaseouser
Running through burnin now. After opening the hatch I have the most intense like burn plastic smell of any vape. Really strong odor. Anyone else have this?

Me, HERE

and them, so far:

To add another voice to the previous member's findings of off-gassing. I was taking a dry run of the vape at the lowest temperature setting and tasted a very distinct chemical taste/smell. I recreated the same experiment with the light behind the device and I saw the same vapor rising off the coils like in the video.

Then I did 3-4 burn offs and instantly could smell/sense some fuming or something from the burn in's which went away and I stopped the burn in process. I did not see any visible off gassing vapor/smoke/burn elements because I did not highlight that with a bright light against a unlit dark background. So everyone should understand how Gibarian presented this aspect in the video he made. I have no idea if I would of got the same results as him/her? But there was definitely a reason to burn in my MV1.

I’m disappointed in the flavor. Maybe it’s them factory chemicals I didn’t burn off

Also, like @Gibarian - my new vape produced some smoking when I ran it new and empty. It wasn't as dramatic as his video, but it was definitely there.

Almost all chinese vapes have had this same smell/taste in their first few sessions - I assume it's the same thing. The MV1 is capable of burning it off very quickly (and visibly)
I'm not offended by it, but it is an unknown that someone needs to be responsible for.

I presented my findings to Ghost and I've been told they are handling it. (And that there is already a burn-off process in manufacturing)
In the meantime, I suggest new MV1 users do a few burn off cycles before using just to avoid that new sneaker taste.

There is a plastic taste when I suck on it with no herb inside, and I can also got a slight taste of plastic with the herb in.

Wow, new video out. I'm in the middle of watching it & it's really great. He also has put up a part 3. He's a very good ambassador so I hope GhostVapes sends him a 2nd vape (& cap) for his wife.

Both, it needs a loading tool badly. Ghost says that they will release a dispenser...a magazine for 5 crucibles, if you will....so perhaps a loading tool?

Just a thought and I hope you are well, @Ratchett

I'd love to help.... Anyone have a spare crucible they'd be willing to loan me for measurements? PM me if you can help

Alright everyone ::update::

Due to the extended buy back I decided to give this weekend a whirl .. previously frustrated I gave up on the ghost...

So a big issue for me was loading this dang crucible into my MV1
I also wanted to incorporate a SS screen so I took care of that first. Now with my mf brush I can sweep out the house and keep things tidy while also keeping the ceramic holes open and thus better airflow..

@Ed's TnT just the tip :brow:

And this by far is the kick me moment.. I figure I might try the crucible upside down and give it a go... Must say so far it's preforming just as well but now loading is a breeze! Well not perfect. But still no awkward lip to manuvre over. Also able to flip the lid off (which has been mostly clean) and give it a stir if needed.
vI3zEjv.jpg

Now you have to make damn sure the top is on flush so you cant close and scratch that black chrome/ satin silver finish. (Warning I don't know of this with void a warranty... ) So try at your own risk if you must... Now for this eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Nonsense mine goes up and down in pitch occasionally?? Lame. Anywho that's it for now thanks for checking out my daydreaming

Edit: edit to make sense .. I think

I am also in possession of a ultrasonic cleaner.
What is that?

Oh, and I mean that I am "NOT UNsympathetic to your postage issues"!! LOL Sorry, I really didn't mean any offense...just a typo. LOL
Haha, I was thinking that was so cold!" ::))

Wow, new video out.
I posted his video a few pages back; nobody responded lol I really thought a limited edition MV-1 would be something people would be interested in...

another ghost hat  :hmm:
I asked him about this on his youtube channel & his reply was, "friends of the family lol I'm writing a medical piece on this product." If you watch his Part 2 or 3 video, you see by a remark he makes that he's uses medicinally.

Yeah, that vid. was Part 1. His Part 2 & 3 is highly informative & he's so funny. Definitely worth watching.

PSA (because there’s a remote chance that there is someone as dumb as me):

I just caught myself frustrated because I was getting no vapor. After a moment’s reflection, I realized I had set the temp but had forgotten to push the vape button. Boom. Push button, wait for vibration, draw. Works like a champ.

2nd update:

About 6 crucibles in... Top is still clean.. airflow is great and minimal soil on the heat sync assembly ...Prefer using the crucible upside down. I even used the lid to toss the material for a quick stir.. with the metal crucible lid directly over the coil I've noticed I can use it back to back and the heat sync plus the lid is keeping the heat where I want it (thru the crucible) and not getting as hot even on 2 red lights.

..I think I'm on to something

Edit: I'm keeping it.

Sooo mighty killer or?

Not according to Bud. He said don't get rid of your Mighty's! But he also said that the cooling unit doesn't work that great compared to the mv1 cooling system.

Gonna catch flak but the Mighty was "killed" over a year ago when a portable, full convection vaporizer with replaceable 18650s (non-proprietary) hit the market - wrong thread anyway.

Okay man, please spill....?

EDIT: Nevermind, I should have known better, but can't say that I agree. ;)

Wonder how long before the easy loading, mv2 comes out with a touchscreen display?

Look how long it took Arizer? I'm surprised that Ghost didn't go full digital from the start. The single led system is a huge turn off for me. Should of been digital, but whatever.

That's so subjective after-all. If only we were all looking for the same thing with our vapes.... But thankfully not, that's our diversity that makes this community interesting, and if there was a perfect vape it would be boring as our VAS would be cured and there wouldn't be much reason to come here anymore! :p

I just like being a dick. My comment was referring to Milaana but there's a host of vaporizers that @KeroZen so kindly shared that are full convection and have replaceable, no proprietary batteries AND you don't have to kiss the vape, pray to your higher power, allign the planets and make sure the heatsink is properly assembled in order to get vapor.

Cool stuff!

Well, still having off-gassing issues, unfortunately, despite my best attempts to do a burn off and clean with ISO. I've ran the unit a bunch of times (about 30-40x) while drawing without any herb inside and still get a chemically metallic taste. Also the fumes are irritating to my throat and lungs despite my best efforts to not inhale them deeply by just puffing the vape. I'm really bummed and concerned. I didn't load any herbs because I wanted to see if this would go away first. I'm wondering if more people would experience this if they didn't hastily load up their units. Really was excited for this vape and now I worry about its safety.

No, unfortunately this forum proved again and again that our smell and taste sensitivities vary to a quite incredible extent. A lot of members genuinely don't smell what we do.

It's also why I precised this vape was not for me (and just for me, it's surely fine for most) because I know I'm on the other end of the spectrum when it comes to silicone smell sensitivity: I can detect the slightest exposed part inside the vapor path, be it pre or post heater (and yes @VCBud sometimes even a single o-ring with a non neutral formulation counts for me)

There might be other sources of parasitic smells though (I hope for instance they didn't use that bloody silicone bonding glue inside, but the smell when hot is so gross, I guess we would have way more complaints by then) and until we see a full tear-down we don't know. But I think the silicone is responsible for a good part of the smell, and possibly for the fumes (as well as some eventual manufacturing residues which shouldn't be present in any medical-grade device anyway)

Some people say the best "cure" (no pun intended) for silicone is to cover it as soon as possible with a layer of reclaim so it's no longer exposed... also masks the smell... to some extent. Never worked for me with my Ascent for instance...

Last resort I suggest is to use your vacuum hose and create suction while you heat with abv loaded. That new vape taste will go away.
