So I just wanted to give my sincere thanks to Nerissa and Virgil from Ghost for their absolutely stellar CS.
I had a problem with my first MV1 Stealth having an incredibly horrible smell. It was really, offensively bad. I could smell it over the whole unit, including on the mouthpiece when I held it away from the unit. So naturally I posted about it to ask for solutions. Instantly Nerissa got talking with me and a replacement unit was sent out.
During the time waiting the smell seemed to dissipate a bit and I was able to come to a conclusion (note this is purely my own theory): what I was smelling is the dense foam packaging in the MV1 box, and it must have been sitting in a hot warehouse or somewhere equivalent and that made it smell even worse and 'spread' into the unit because it was so strong. It is hot here at the moment, and the first unit was in my country for days before being shipped to me (which took days as well).
This theory was confirmed (again, to me personally), upon getting the replacement unit... which was shipped directly to me from Ghost, and quick. It had the same smell on the packaging foam but it was FAR less noticeable, and the smell wasn't on the unit itself this time. The silicone on the unit smelled like silicone, which you'd expect, but that was it. The nasty gag inducing chemical odor was not present on the unit at all. Yay!
So yeah. I really think it was just the packaging, hence not really an issue. So again I really want to thank Nerissa and Virgil for helping out so quickly, even though it turns out that it was likely just the packaging foam. I think you'd be hard pressed to find better CS than Ghost!
So actually using the MV1... this is gonna sound weird, I really love it but probably won't be using it as much as I'd
like to. I get some huuuge and tasty hits out of this thing. Unfortunately I do get hot spots and/or kinda burned tasting hits every now and then. Like everyone says, "when everything works together just right", this thing will rip your head off and give amazing flavor. Really satisfying. It just isn't consistent enough. I wish it was easier to have it be more consistent ala the Mighty, for example. Cheat mode, I know. I just don't want to have to think so much. I just want to have a bunch of crucibles pre-loaded and GO.
I really do love it, and when it works well it is AMAZINGLY satisfying in so many ways, but it is just too inconsistent for my liking... not giving up though!
Anyway some positives/negatives to me personally:
Positives:
- By far my number one positive and easily the most pleasing feature of this device, in my book: Being able to walk outside, pull this thing out of my pocket, press a button, and be drawing within 5-10 seconds feels absolutely AMAZING. The ability to duck outside, have 1-2 hits, then pocketing it again and getting back to life in less than a minute just feels soooo powerful. The speed is utterly satisfying. Waiting for something like the Mighty to heat up is a real pain in the ass to me - not a problem with the MV1! I actually like holding down the button to heat as well, something about that feels really really nice... being in complete control.... it's not 'on' any other time.. I don't know - feels good.
- IMO this thing is definitely pocketable and I like the weighty feeling of it of it. Feels good in my hand too.
- Huge, tasty hits - when you get them.
Negatives:
- I still don't like the idea of silicone that close to the vapor path, I don't even care if it's considered safe. Just a personal thing that makes me feel wary.
- While I love the crucible idea (capsules in general are awesome), 'no need to stir' really needs to be a thing on a future unit.
- I would really love temp controls on the device itself, and the ability to turn off bluetooth permanently via a button combination or something. Changing temps, while easy, takes too long and doesn't feel like a smooth process. Doesn't even have to be a digital display, I actually wouldn't mind if it was the same lights system with customize-and-forget temperature settings on the app, then having simple level up / level down buttons (think Mighty) to cycle through the temps you have set. Put down/up buttons on the left/right of the vape button for speedy/easy temp change --> begin vaping. Put lights on the back at the bottom instead of the front to see changes easy.. I don't know. Something would work imo.
- Loose mouthpiece doesn't feel great but definitely not a deal breaker or something I think about.
- My replacement unit has a high pitched squealing sound when heating that my original unit didn't have. For me, from what has been for me the ultimate, discreetest, duck-outside-back-in-30-sec powerhouse of a vape... the maddening squealing sound really takes away from the whole stealthy experience for me... especially being in a country that is not legally accepting of certain things.
All that said, I'm 100% on board for an MV2 or equivalent. The power, convenience, and delicious vapor from this thing are very, very appealing. I think these guys are absolutely on the right track to something nearly perfect. And did I mention their CS is beyond amazing?
