As a result of getting the original XCOM titles as part of the 2K Humble Bundle, I started getting back into the 20-year-old original.
It didn't take me long to discover
OpenXCOM, which is absolutely fantastic, and allows this title from 1994 to easily hold its own against any modern turn-based strategy game.
I remember getting the demo back when I had a 486/66 and I played
that alone for years before ever getting the full version. I will never forget my pre-teen angst when I realized that while the demo spoils you with a fully equipped squad with Power Armour, and Laser Rifles, the full game starts you out with Rookies in
coveralls .
