Are they injecting steroids into your ankle, or is it something else? It looks similar to the liquid steroids they injected into my knee after my car accident.

Supposedly, there is only ONE group of good Rheumatologists in my city (which I think is bullshit, and I'm going to speak to my new GP about that), and I can't stand my Rheumatologist. She acts like she is a god, and you are the devil if you question her in any way. I hope you have a good Rheumatologist @t-dub !

Hi Vicki...first and foremost I need to apologize for the insensitivities directed at you by my peer in the medical community. If I were clinically supervising her she would be reminded of that which is central to our vocation; "first do no harm". She would further be prompted of her need to focus on creating conditions for her patients to fully achieve their own health and well being. You entrust your care to us; and we have the obligation of working for the benefit of you! You are not just biological, chemical, anatomical, and physiological. You are a person...intelligent, spiritual, and free. Again...I apologize for you ill treatment.

Thank you, you are sweet to apologize, but it's not your fault. You sound like a very compassionate doctor that actually listens to his patients. I feel like cattle when I see this Rheumatologist, and if I tell her I don't like Prednisone, or the biologics that suppress the immune system, she says I am patient non-compliant. I have not been a well person, and suppressing my immune system scares the hell out of me, but she doesn't seem to understand that, or care.

That being said, I absolutely LOVE my orthopedic surgeon. He is wonderful and compassionate. He even tries to joke with me all the time to make me laugh when I am nervous and afraid. :) I know there are good doctors out there. They are just few and far between, at least it seems that way to me.

I told my new GP, and she said she is going to try and help me by possibly starting me on an older drug, can't remember the name of it, but it's not Methotrexate. She also told me that I can't really put off treating it any longer because she is also concerned about my organs since RD goes for those too.

I just had labs done on Tuesday (blood and urine), so hopefully those tests will tell how bad the RD is right now. I have an appointment to see my GP again November 3rd, so she will probably start that med, and maybe a couple others then. I'm a new patient to this GP because my old GP closed her practice in July. We had been seeing her for over 12 years, and I really miss her. I hate starting over. :(

Remember when they used to treat Rheumatoid Disease with gold shots?? :o I never understood how that would help a disease of the immune system that is attacking a person's whole body, including internal organs.

Yes its Kenalog and thank the maker its finally starting to give me some relief this morning. I could barely walk yesterday. I love my rheumatologist, he is a genius, truly cares about me, and is good with a needle. He signs my MMJ paperwork for the state . . .

@Stu - my apologies for not using the spoiler tag on my pic but I thought it would be ok in our private little pain club here . . . Sorry guys!

Edit: and quit lookin' at my toes . . its weird.

@t-dub Pay no attention to the needle babies  I love photo's like that
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear_of_needles
A relevant excerpt:
Whilst witnessing procedures involving needles it is possible for the phobic present to suffer the symptoms of a needle phobic attack without actually being injected. Prompted by the sight of the injection the phobic may exhibit the normal symptoms of vasovagal syncope and fainting or collapse is common. While the cause of this is not known, it may be due to the phobic imagining the procedure being performed on themselves. Recent neuroscience research shows that feeling a pin prick sensation and watching someone else's hand get pricked by a pin activate the same part of the brain [10]

I know I'm a wimp, but at least I know I'm not alone!

@Vicki...thank-you for your kind-hearted words. Please consider asking your orthopedic surgeon (with whom you have a quality relationship) for a referral to a board-certified rheumatologist; with a bedside manner similar to his own. (Note: It may take a while as he will need to access his colleagues; but he'll honor your request because he is an empathic human being).

What is the best strain for depression?
You might know?
Girl Scout Cookies seemed to work the best however I'm out. The dispensaries don't have it any more?I have seeds however it will be at least 16 weeks to 18 weeks! I have top shelve indicas however they taste great with an effect I find not correct! I had some CBD drops I thought were pretty good however I'm taking a T-break until I figure it out? 3 years no problems? Why the change?

I like Jilly Bean. I've heard folks using it for depression. It works well for anxiety and pain for me.

It's hard for me to find. When I see it, I make sure I pick some up. It's supposed to be high in CBD. It didn't make me feel racy. I was told October the crop would be ready.

EDIT
The cortisone shot to the ankle or foot joint is very painful. It's worth it if it works. Mine doesn't work every time. I don't have rheumatoid arthritis. I have degenerative. It seems to effect my muscles too. I get muscle cramping and spasms when it's flared up.

I only wish it were that easy (and someday it will); but until research pharmacologists are able to initiate and conduct human clinical trials (impossible under current federal law) patients will need to share diagnostic/symptom relief via venues (not dissimilar to this).
Re. Cannabinoids and symptom relief for mood disorders there are two schools of thought:
Pro: those who have never struggled with a life threatening or disabling illness cannot comprehend how dehabilitating the symptoms can be. The elevation in mood associated with ingestion of cannabis often affects one's health in a positive way by both stabilizing the symptom level and increasing one's ability to function on a daily basis.
CON: Mental disorders are primarily a disturbance of our biochemisy. Evidence suggests that cannabinoids can both contribute to that imbalance concurrent with cognitive damage; both short and long term.

I'm sorry that you misunderstood my response to your question. I am in the Pro school of thought for precisely the reasons I articled.

Edit: articulated
You speak in circles?
Do you think a fat doctor should give advice on how to eat correctly?
Do you even know that different strains of cannabis have different effects!

So, this weekend, I decided to trade in my Samsung Galaxy S4 Active in for a Nokia Lumia 1520 Windows Phone, and I LOVE it so far. Cortana is awesome, and it has so many great features, including a much better battery life, and a killer camera. Plus, so much more.

The only small drawback is the apps, but that is growing and will get better with time. I honestly thought I liked Android better, but I actually like Windows better.
