@shredder I'm putting it normal, bottom down, with great results. Don't you get material stuck on the sides bottom up ?

The difference between bottom up or down was not great, and with the screen bottom down it did hold more than bottom of the screen up. That (more herb) may also be responsible for the difference I noticed.

I preferred the bottom up. The space between the screen and the bowl does hold some abv, but the included tool gets it out easy. I actually had more abv sticking to the screen sides with the basket bottom down.

I started experimenting because the stock screen got dirty and affected performance after two bowls. I didn't expect a big difference in performance. The performance difference is pretty big though.

I've been changing screens and cleaning the vape parts when I swap batteries at 5 or 6 bowls. But no doubt I could go longer.

Edit I don't post pics here cause it's a pita. Sorry.

I made the basket screens from 3/4" screens to work in my underdog. I used a socket the same diameter as the stem/bowl and pressed the screen into a slightly bigger socket. Then I trimmed the basket skirt to 3/16 of an inch with trimming scissors.

I was kindly supplied some new screens of various sizes, super nice. Half-inch is my favorite. Works well, easier to remove, bigger and stays clean longer, good/better airflow with less material spread over a wider screen. The little smaller load I prefer. Warms up quickly and can handles shorter draws better I think. Nice consistent clouds. (Great herb helps too).

Note, be careful removing screens. I literally broke the ceramic "mushroom" looking piece of the lower chamber that supports the screen-- with a pin....

It is difficult to remove screens sometimes. Be careful.

But the unit works fine, I can't detect any difference in performance or clouds. I did order a couple new bowls--at $27 a pop!--just because I plan on using vaporizer well into the future and Marc's inventory on such things is unpredictable at best.

I've added an aftermarket screen myself, I'm pretty sure its a screen from an imp stem ( smaller then half inch) I changed it because I had my stock screen flip sideways a Cpl times dumping herb into the sticky air path. :ugh:

I left the stock screen in for more restriction and particle protection. I haven't noticed a performance improvement, but herb seems to roast more even as the bowl is reduced in size about 15-20%

Haven't had to clean a screen since, I think I was cleaning every 4 bowls prior. I have some different mesh screen sizes on the way so I can experiment. I've really been enjoying this vaporizer it's been a very well rounded performer from long flavourful sessions to quick full extractions in 4 hits.

The on board storage is my favourite part. I kinda wish there was small spot I could keep a tooth pick or something. I'm a bit inattentive by nature and I've accidentally flipped this upside down to dump my herb after a stir BEFORE I put the cover back on a few times. Lately I've been using the glass stem to store a mini skewer in. I seems to be working well.

So, I decided to pop out the oven and give it a good cleaning - easy enough once you actually remove the glass stem.
However, now I can’t get the stem to seal again. I am sure it is something already mentioned in here somewhere - but is there a trick to putting the stem back in?

Is the o ring in the oven? That's where it seals.

When i clean mine I put a very light application of bees wax on the stem where it contacts the oven to lube the o ring.

That makes perfect sense.... Ha - wait, is it red? I ran across one this AM on my floor and couldn’t figure out what it was for. Luckily I didn’t throw it out, but the hell if I know where I put it! I will look for it when I get home.

That's the one, it's a small red o ring. It will be obvious as to where it goes when you have the oven in hand. And the glass stem slips into it.

Mine came with two spare o rings.

 Too funny, I could totally imagine myself trying to put the stem back without the ring. Clunk clunk FML. Oh wait what’s this red thing in the floor. This is my life in a nutshell :lmao:

Same here. Shit just disappears. My first high performance front end for the Grasshopper vanished and it never left my house. The first silicone mouthpiece for the GH disappeared for two years and then just appeared. A paperback book my wife was reading vanished in thin air (never left the house). Perhaps we have a poltergeist who reads and gets high? It clearly returned the mouthpiece when its lips got more heat resistant than mine.

I know we had a holiday and all, but it's been awful quiet around here. I haven't seen a new post in what seems like days. Is everyone all right? Is my internet broken? Everyone still liking their FW6's?

Well, I just went to the Firewood site and was able to order a FW6!! Didn't get any email notice but there they are!!:tup::rockon:
Congrats to @firewood for making it through all the pre-orders . Lots of happy owners out there already and surely more to come.

While I’m here, has anyone else noticed you can use the FW6’s heater to heat pretty much anything? For science I packed a Solo 2 bent stem and held the FW6 heater up to it (much like you’d hold a lighter to a smoking pipe) and got good vapour.

I don’t have one myself, but I’m curious to see if any Sticky Brick owners could try something similar - using the FW6 as the source instead of a torch :sherlock:. Much fun to be had.

For shits and giggles I tried my s&b dosing capsule stem. Great results. Huge hits, larger then stock bowl. Here it is after 4 hits. Nice and even.

Really like FW6. I have replacement chambers for the one I broke. But i haven't used them. Just using the broken one. Its only missing the mushroom looking thing that the stock screen sits on.

And I actually I think it works really well like this. I shoved a 1/2 inch screen all the way down:

This let's it hold substantially more herb. Air flow is great with a big screen and broken chamber. Lol

The heater will heat anything, basically....

Clouds are amazing. And tasty. Especially if you sprinkle kief in the bowl.

@Brewervapesalot Could you share a little more on your technique? How full do you pack the bowl, what temps do you vape at, how do you take your draws, etc. I'm curious since the clouds leave something to be desired in my experience. I don't get a ton of vapor unless the bowl is packed totally full and the vape is on high heat.

Pack is looser but tamped: air flow is not restricted feeling, but not totally open. Long slow draws. Heat on high or next to highest setting.

From my usage bowl packing technique seems to be crucial for good consistent performance. Other 100% convection vapes I've used I pack/tamp the bowl just enough so the herb doesn't fall out. FW6 I need to give a medium pressure pack like I was packing my mighty. If I do too lose of a pack I get wispy vapour and straw like ABV. My temps are set to the 3 highest settings. Usually vaping around 400-420 I like dark ABV.

I've gotten good performance with a half full bowl by tamping it down a bit firmer then I normally would. Easiest way to load less would be to place a floater screen half way down your bowl. This way you can pack full keeping your load close to the heater for more efficient performance while loading less material.

Agree. Will say, also, I probably won't ever use the stock screen again. The bigger 1/2" screen stays cleaner longer, better airflow, and my favorite part is the way it sits--makes ABV fall out with just a tap. Seemed I had to dig out ABV with a tool with stock screen installed more often than not.

(Thanks to member who sent me 1/2 " screens...)

Was it the 100mesh @NOLOGO was suggesting? I ordered a small 4x4 sheet of this off Etsy for $4 and it's been great. Thanks for the suggestion ;) Really easy to work with, and my ABV has been a dream to empty. It falls out in a little ball half the time now. I would have thought the finer mesh weave would clog easier but that hasn't been the case so far. Very happy

I used such screens as well as 1/2 " ones I got on amazon for FW5. Either work. I like the courser mesh for cleaning/stay clean purposes.

That's a nice pic!

I'm very satisfied with the FW6 with the use of 1/2 " screens.

It's a nice pocketable convection vape! Great flavor and clouds.

Room for improvement, like many convection vapes, is to figure out a way--keeping portability--to cool the vapor more. It's not hot. But not cool either.
