is it inadvisable to just throw the ceramics in some iso with the glass (gently)? i only know that plastics / o-rings should not be washed in iso..
I'm not an expert but from what I recall, the ceramic is porous so soaking it in iso is a bad idea because it will like, saturate it and then it's hard to dry the iso out of it or something idk I never tried it. I wipe the ceramics with q-tips wetted with 99.9% iso and it cleans up very easy, there will always be discoloration because of the porous nature of the ceramic but it doesn't affect anything but the visuals.

edit: I forgot to add I clean the screen by taking it out and heating it red-hot with a butane torch lol, I've done it at least 3 times now and the screen seems good as new, though taking it out seems to fray the edges a lil

This may be the wrong thing to do and bad advice, so someone please tell me if it is, but I actually felt more comfortable using Everclear instead of iso to clean the ceramic.

I figured with a porous surface, using something less toxic would be a better idea. If you successfully burn it off before use it shouldn’t make a difference, but that may be hard to do quickly, especially if you soak the ceramic (which I didn’t do anyway).

Oh, and I’m nearly a year I’ve only cleaned it like twice too, but I also use the WPA most of the time at home and I haven’t been out a lot.

Edit: Also torching screens works, but it can shorten their lifespans a lot.

Wouldn’t dish soap work to clean the ceramic bowl? It’s a degreaser, so it should clean the resin. Also, it’s safe for the dishes you eat off of and it’s what Dynavap recommends cleaning its products.

I don’t think Dynavap has any ceramic products, do they?

I think dish soap could work, and it should be okay for the glass parts, but again I’d worry about residue from the soap being left in the porous ceramics. I’d rather not heat and inhale whatever might be in my dish soap.

ISO soaking is completely fine on the ceramic pieces if you let them sit and evaporate the ISO for a few hours prior to putting back to use in your FW. This is my standard cleaning procedure and never noticed any ISO residual flavor, scent, or taste. ISO is used to clean electronics and will evaporate. Using Everclear is a good suggestion as well if you are uncomfortable using ISO.

I have cleaned my ceramic FW6 oven with ISO in an ultrasonic cleaner with no problem. (Also my ghost ceramic caps with no issue)
I would never soak for an extended period of time and always rinse thoroughly with water.
The drying time is the only annoying part (patience is not one of my virtues).
Works great! 👍

Hello FC folks! Ive been enjoying getting to know my fw7 but I think I still have much to learn. Firstly my main issue is the heat. Do the other cooling stems cool significantly more than the stock 'hula stem' that comes with it? I was eyeing the Inception stem but is it really worth it? This also led me to the inception WPA. Does this work as well as the WPA from Firewood? BB9? I was eyeing the WPA from firewood but it costs a bit more once you factor in the 14male/14male adapter you have to buy separately.

Also, I seem to be struggling to get dense vapor. Sure I can see it, and maybe im expecting too much but i feel like I should be getting more. Ive tried drawing fast to drawing slow, tamping with just the weight of the scoop/tamp tool I have. First hit I hold for 5-6 secs after the buzz before pulling. Current presets are 350 370 390. Not the most even heating either.

Anyhoo, thanks for reading and I appreciate any input. Peace!

The WPA is definitely worth it, and you can even buy a male j-hook or male bubbler... And I recommend reading through the past few pages, there are a lot of tips, for one thing probably load less than you are, consistent fine grind good pack...

i only recently upgraded to a flower mill, and i can say that grind consistency seems to make a world of difference, the finer the better for density of vapor id say (but not for taste). degree of tamping is sth i am also still experimenting with, but id say using just the weight of the tamp tool is not enough (unless yours is made of gold maybe). i have mostly used convection before, and it feels strange using such a fine grind & tamping it quite so much in FW7, but this is what seems to work best for me, and you should see what grinding / tamping extremes you can get away with to find your sweetspot before getting too discouraged. my presets are 340 / 360 / 380, and i feel if i needed to, i could probably finish a load with dense vapor on the 340 setting. i do hold the button considerably longer than you though, particularly on 1st heat up. i couldnt say how long that is in sec, but just experiment with it.

ps - i dont have any understanding of how different heaters work in detail really. maybe someone else can enlighten me re power & heat up time. but i think it is of note, that while this is considered slow now, the mighty takes .. i dont remember how long, 1-2 minutes (!) about? .. to get to temperature. all that while the chamber is being heat soaked (and the herb cooked unfortunately), but that makes for pretty satisfying results as soon as you get the green light to hit it. i think this is what i had in the back of my mind when i decided to push the button a little longer on this first hit (certainly nowhere close to mighty time though! 10-15 sec roughy?)

I'm not sure to understand your technique. Wich buzz do you talk?
When you press the button, the 2nd buzz signals that it's hot (ready) and while continuing to press the button, start to inhale (for 5 to 10 seconds minimum). It's advisable, once the button is released, to continue to draw until the buzz signaling that the device turns off (see 1 or 2 additional seconds) in order to completely empty the bowl.
mine is set to 390° and I get big dense milky clouds, every time, without fail!

I use a bb9 as a WPA and it works well. Using it as a normal mouthpiece I don't really feel a difference in cooling compared to the hula stem.
As others say, I thinks the most important factors to get big and dense with even heating are consistent fine grind and tight pack (temping with just the weight of your tool isn't anough). I would the tightest the better as long as you're ok with the draw restriction it creates.

Hello,

Can someone help me with a link to a Firewood 7 in-stock? I have been looking everywhere for one. As an owner of a Mighty, Crafty, TinyMight, Solo II and a POTV One I just need to try it. Thanks.

In case you didn’t already know, these are (as far as I know) still made by one guy, and since the the 7 has become so popular they’re pretty hard to get. He can’t even make enough to keep them in stock on his own site, let alone supply retail outlets!

I think it’s worth trying to get one though; definitely one of the best and most pocketable portables in my opinion. :)

Haha yeah, actually if you skim back, or search posts from me, I shared one similar to this that actually has a 14mm male joint so you wouldn't even need the adapter... Yes it is functional, recycler means good flavor but there's some good diffusion too in this one, and you can see some vapor fill in the clear chamber top, pretty unique and cool, practical enough with the FW7, we'll see how regular it becomes... Can also be used dry!

Hey guys. I need some help. The larger rubber piece (don't know what it's called) that is used to get the mouthpiece air tight in the device fell down the drain. I have the two smaller pieces but would like to purchase some more of both sizes. Anyone know what these things are called and where to get them?

Edit: it's the silicone tubing segment I'm talking about. Found the name on Fw website.

The stem adapter is held in place by a small o-ring sandwiched between 2 short pieces of clear silicone tubing. There is also a small o-ring in the top of the ceramic piece below the stem.

I don’t know which piece you’re talking about and I don’t know the exact sizes of those pieces, but if you e-mail support you should be able to get replacement parts or information about exactly what you need.

It may be here in the thread too, but I don’t remember seeing it…hope that helps you at least know what to ask for. :)

If it's indeed just the silicone inserts for the Hula stem :

Vape (Silicone) (1/8" ID x 1/4" OD) (Firewood Original)

Vape (Silicone) (1/8'' ID x 1/4'' OD) (Firewood Original)

Top two are same size as FW7, this bottom one is because I found my inception stem was ever so slightly bigger diameter wise and I'm not crazy about those tiny red o-rings, so I use this instead :

Vape (Silicone) (1/8'' ID x 7mm OD x 1.5mm) (Firewood Slightly Bigger One)
