It's finally arrived! sadly need to do the initial charge so no Elevaping tonight.

First impressions: Very solid and incredibly small. Only criticism is the switch is plastic and doesn't feel as robust as everything else.

The overall manufacturing so far looks to be incredibly tight.

So.... Should I have a play on stock first, or would I be better off immediately flashing new firmware / setting new temp values tomorrow?

Very excited though, the package to me looks as though it's been built with love by an enthusiastic and proud engineer rather than a big corporate company or chinese sweat shop. It just has that feel of blood sweat and tears to it.

My serial is 11xx, I didn't realise so few have actually sold.

I've ordered some spare coils and the stir lid to help me on my way :)

I'm always of the opinion to try things 'as shipped' first. Right out of the box, so you can decide what you want to change/improve and have a baseline for judging the effects?

Check first, it's likely that it has the latest programing? In any event be sure it works properly before you mess with it.......

It's a fun and well built unit, I hope you become fast friends quickly.

I would say that they are different...

the esv is convection the crafty is convection and also conduction...

esv is more an one hitter vape the crafty is a session vape...

esv heats up immidiatly when hitting it... crafty needs more then 1 to two min. to heat up

esv only cooks you herbs when taking a draw... crafty is cooking your herb until you turn it off...

the esv is smaller then crafty...

I also have the feeling I get more clouds from the crafty then the esv with same size/weight of herb... but I am not totaly sure about that... could it be the extra conduction of the crafty or so...

Yeah definitely good advice.

I won't tinker with the values at all but I will update the fw if required. It's always a good idea to be running the most recent fw, I'd update a phone or pc etc.

Shame I have work to do tomorrow, this will make it tricky.

I'm running an NO2 mouthpiece screen as the "bottle cap", I do have it screwed in place.

I put a bit less herb in as well. Definitely less than "up to the silver ring"... about half the height of the bowl. I use the SCS for my grind.

I'm running it the way it was returned to me (coil tilt, etc.) except I have my center temp as 385F... which I use mostly.

Less is more. This should be my tag line. But, yes... less is more.

My only complaint, and faint, faint complaint it is, is I feel COMPELLED to draw for the full 8 seconds and through the blink, so that I'm not leaving vapor in the path. It's the only nit, and it is too, too small to even consider picking at.

Works fabulous. Even worked pretty decent the other day... I wasn't getting much vapor, so I flipped it to the 3 level, and pulled a couple of times really hard. Got one decent vapor cloud, then really nothing.

Yes, of course you see it coming. By then, so did I.

Pulled open the lid. Yup, forgot to reload it the night before.

Nice clean screen, though. :)

Anyone heard about this vape being on a Black Friday sale?

Also, if you buy from an unauthorized dealer like vape smart, do you still get the lifetime warranty?

You must be using those Metric seconds......I too get 8 'real' ones.....on both mine one under S/N 100 the other over 1000.

I'd check with Joe. He might (I suspect does) but it's his option. Normally the only warranty you can enforce is with the guy you gave your money to (the dealer unless you bought from the maker directly). It's a contract issue.

FWIW in the past week or so a guy posted a link for half price, the best ever seen?

Where did you buy yours from? You might be operating on the old hardware. Easy way to check is to plug it in and see if you can still take a hit. If you can you have old firmware and need to update. If it looks like it works but you get no vapor or heat, then the new firmware is loaded. The ESV I bought directly from IPUFFUSA in March was A001143 so I am presuming yours has been on the shelf for a similar amount of time. The one I bought two weeks ago is A001333 so yeah, only about 1300 sold in the USA. I believe the European sold Elevapes have a EU00xxxx serial number so who knows how many of those are out there.

Sorry it was actually A0012xx, I was relying on memory, still. Mine was from Namaste in UK.

It was fully up with 134 out of the box. In fact it worked right away. I'll write up later my experiences for day 1 but they are massively positive. Have had a great day with the device and am now just building up the temps to work out how far I can or want to go.

As a synopsis though, it's on-demand clouds. That's what it tries to do, that's what it does.

I'm also very tempted by that offer, but Randy at puffitup said to hold off because they are coming out with a new version soon!

New version is in beta testing. Timeline is unknown. I talked with Joe about it two weeks ago and it does sound like it's going to be great, but they still had firmware kinks to resolve and then beta testing so its gonna be a little while before units are ever getting produced.

Can you give us any more details why it's going to be great & /or different? Are you thinking the time line is a matter of months rather than weeks? Any indication of price?

Unfortunately I cannot. My talk about a new device with Joe was very general. He did say it was based on the current ESV platform/body and that is all I really recall. The way it came up was he was telling me how the features I love most about the ESV will be part of the design on the new version. The features being instant convection, aluminum body, and cool smooth vapor.

Took a field trip to meet Joe this afternoon. I could tell that he really cares about his customers.

After getting off the freeway, I was expecting the possibility that it was a small mom and pop operation (even thought it might be in someone's garage). I was completely wrong. Once I stepped into his office, i felt like I was at a startup microprocessor tech company.

After meeting Joe, I felt I was rude (needed to take a phone call), but it did not bother him and he couldn't be nicer. I have a low 100 model and he upgraded my elevape software, replaced and repositioned my coil, and even gave me a new delerin mouthpiece (don't know the spelling) after seeing my aluminum mouthpiece wiggle. All this without any charge.

He talked more about the design and all the R&D put into this product. This vaporizer is truly a HIDDEN GEM. I am shocked that everyone is willing to wait so long for the grasshopper when you have a full convection portable that gives cool vapor on demand. Reading the GH thread, it seems the vapor is warm-hot.

While I enjoy my ESV and wait for my GH, I'm really second-guessing the need. If it weren't for the form factor, I might just cancel the GH order and call it good.

ETA: Awww hell, who am I kidding? I'll keep buying these damn things.
