The sound of vapor
So since we still haven't heard from the Elevape rep here, I went on the Vapornation site and asked lots of questions to their CS (who has been very helpful, informative and honest). I know the rule is to not disclose private conversation without the other party consent so I've asked for it and got the green light with the only caveat that we have to keep in mind this vape is new and they are still looking into it.
Here's what I've gathered from this conversation:
After googling and not finding anything I've asked if they knew of a video or review for it, they looked into it but couldn't find anything either. They mentioned though that at least a couple of colleagues were using it as daily vape and mentioned that:
Both have high praise for the unit, claiming a near instant heat up time, excellent temperature settings with the app (which is for PC and Mac only!), and really easy to maintain.
I have downloaded their "app" and tried to install it twice but it failed. Vapornation CS mentioned that their colleague didn't have any issue installing it but they had just tried again and got an error as well.
Overall this vape still sound promising to me but the lack of communication around it and the 0 review are kinda giving me cold feet... I think I'll stick to my Ascent for now, keep on looking forward to my GH in "insert release month here" (ok, ok, they said July and seem to be on track for now) and will look forward to getting more info on this one. Oh! there's also the new W9tech super extra cool all glass with bubbler portable but as far as I'm concerned it's only an idea written on a forum for the moment.

Here's what I've gathered from this conversation:
- the air path is made of stainless steel
- the coil is of stainless steel with ceramic covering
- the battery life, with light to normal usage can last all day; it doesn't appear to be user replaceable as neither Ipuff nor Vapornation carry batteries separately
- the battery and heating element have a 1 year warranty, the electronic in the unit has a lifetime warranty
- since the herb sits close to the heating element you are bound to get some heat directly from the element. However it is mainly a convection unit.
- The unit is manufactured in the U.S. so there are increased production costs. Along with the extensive beta testing the manufacturer went through, they are confident that their unit is a high quality, efficient, durable and reliable unit. (that was regarding the high price)
- easy to clean, it comes with a cleaning tool and would require to give the herb chamber a quick brush down after use
- the "app" is only for PC and Mac as of now
- it has a "rubber o ring" to provide a better seal around the herb chamber to ensure there are no lost vapors
- the hole in the screen is for the latch to the herb chamber, there is a screw in the middle which is why the screen has that hole
- there's no switching on /off, mainly to maintain that instant heat time, even with the unit kind of on a stand by mode, it still lasts the whole day

Maybe the guy only meant the air path above the bowl, me it's the fresh-air inlet path i haven't been able to figure out completely so far.
Somehow i'm not convinced. How significant is the part of radiative heat exactly?

You placed your order one week ago... has there been any activity? Have they charged your card? Have they sent you a shipment notification or backorder/delay notification? Curious minds want to know!
Actually, I just received my signature required package........They apparently use UPS which takes 7 days from left to right coast. The packaging and device itself are well thought/ well produced. The vape is small, with great detail to quality of finish. The anodizing is done well, and all of the edges of the vape are smooth and refined. The manual requires a 5 hour first time charge, so I will see you all right back here at around 4 est. for a usage report. IF this little machine lives up to its claim, even marginally, I think the form factor will attract the stealth crowd. Now the challenge is trying to keep the CB receptors clean/clear for the first flight.

No doubt there are many other products which are already available that you'd find even more stealthy, though for all i can tell so far THIS particular design happens to be unique in what it has to offer the cannabic vaporist community, and quite honnestly i hope everyone following this thread realizes it as well, not to mention the implications:
First of all lets remind ourselves that a heater element isn't required to have its surface directly exposed to any vegetal debris:
Glass. Cheap, simple and effective! Plus it doesn't come any cleaner than that...
Now, imagine the manufacturer may intend to eventually develop some halogen-based version!
Wouldn't such benefit come early on your priority list too?...
I'm asking because i find there's something more substancial about it than just its stealth feature, which can wait at this stage of development anyway, and especially in the face of such potential novelty!!

IMHO the next step could be to offer customers the option of on-site user maintenance when it comes to their heater element: it's broken? No Problem, that's not any harder than to change a bulb - litterally.

So, i liked the screws thing but the idea of a quick plug-in replacement pleases me even more and i see exactly that as a good fit here... So, how about putting our expectations on VaporNation's Elevape Smart genuine feedback loop instead of simply its look?
Perhaps correlation would be somewhat approximate between light-level and temperature near the extremes of the application's range but i'll bet it can be made to perform suitably enough to be called "thermostatic"... Which once combined with convection and a quick heat-up time might pay on the long run.
Oh well, i'm becoming too involved i guess!

Alright, I got tired of waiting for the charging light to go green. Inserting the usb initially gives a little resistance. As with anything, it should loosen up a bit with use........So the chamber lid turns 90 degrees to provide a "tab" of sorts to remove the lid. Intake holes can be seen around the side dia. of said cap. The chamber took 1/8 teas. with ease. Slight tamp (read tamp, not pack) and then set the little switch on the side to 2. I did not register my new machine, or download any custom settings. So the lid area is on the bottom and there is an indicator light on the top surface which lights as you draw breath. I did not do any burn-offs, wipe down, safety check, nuthin'. I found the resistance of the draw to be easier than the FF. The indicator light ramps up at the slightest pull on the mouthpiece. It flashes after about a 7-10 second draw, but you can just keeping hooting along. You can draw with your chest, or you can chief out a bunch of puffs like you were hot boxing a fresh bowl of your buddies weed.....The vapor is not wispy, by any means. My starting material was a bit moist and the Elevape just instacured my herb and continued to extract the good vapor. The "load" provided 10-17 hits and started to taste cashed, which was great because I needed to set the little fella down. I did not check for uniformity of vapage, I did not stir, the device does not get hot. I believe this vape is going to allow me to gift/sell/loose/break all the rest of my portables (had a few...).
The quality of design and production are the best I have experienced. No plastic, replaceable heater, tiny footprint, all the vapor production that I will need. The product was made in America, its not cheap. I have no problem handing over the funds for a machine of this quality and function. I cannot speak of battery life, or custom colors, it does have a nice batch of accessories included. This was the best experience I have had yet with a new device. I think the warranty is substantial, the product is solid, save your cash and get one of these. I have no affiliation with the company, if it was not for the efforts of fellow FC'ers I would not have known of the Elevape. Got questions? hit me with pm and I will tell ya what I know.

i impulse bought this because the 5 de may sale at vapornation and i cant find anything on it anywhere on the web besides here. i hope its not a piece of shit or it will have to go to the vaporizer graveyard with about a billion other vapes i have put there. i tried to DL the app but it was fucked up so i guess i will just have to wait for the vape to get here and try again
The taste factor is not as "refined" as the FF provides. The ovens have been coming out a bit less even as to color of abv. The vape just keeps putting out vapor until the load is devoid of actives. I am confident that this little machine will be able to replace my other portables. The draw is far less restrictive than the FF. The oven size takes 1/8 tsp packed lightly. More testing needs to be done as to a firmer bowl pack. I was also unable to get a functional Mac download. I notified Elevape via their website and got a response within the hour. Evidently the Mac software download does have some bugs. I turned my unit down to setting 1 because of some hot spots. The temp levels should allow as high as 450 per the manufacturer. I believe concentrates are quite possible. A herbalizer oil pad fits perfect in the oven. I have some fresh extract that I will try after work today. Did not know of the special sale. Paid full price with no problems. I am definitely considering buying a second unit, just to have. I will try a find a friend who is running PC because the software is supposed to be operational with Windows. I like the smaller size, easier draw versus the FF. It is built like a $350 vape should be. I do see many people shying away because of the price, but the unit is solid.

Thanks for sharing this info...sure looks like it has potential. Can you maybe tell us where the fresh air is drawn in and what is in the vapor path after the oven? Oh and also, is the mouthpiece same as normal e-cig, meaning you can swap them?

@mephisto : Which other vapes have you owned before? How do you find this compared to other vapes you've had/used? How quickly does it produce vapor from standby? Can it produce clouds? Can it be connected to water?

The response is instant with the EV. Stop drawing and the heat stops. This vape is the quickest, stealthiest, most intuitive machine I have had the pleasure to use. It fits into its own carrying case with room for the charger and a vial of shrubbery. The manufacturer touts this as the last vape you will need to buy. I intend to support that contention with the purchase of a second unit today while the sale is on.

It travels back out the other side of the oven lid and out the passage which the mouthpiece is in. A lot of thought went into this design and its production quality is a fine example of American craftsmanship. If you buy one and don't like it, there's always room at my house. Would you say the vapor quality is better than the Solo? How would you compare it with the PNP for vapor production?

For me, the vapor quality is better than the solo because the EV is convection and the solo is conduction . The sale is at Vapor Nation and ends today. I do not see why one could not use tubing and a fitting to connect to water cooling. I do not find the vapor as hot/harsh as the PNP in native mode.
