Milaana. Lana. LANA. LANAAAA! (TM2/TP80/BAK/FW9)
I checked with Joe and he tells me that the magnets on the lid are overkill and not really necessary and that newer models won't have them.

He offered to send me another lid, but I told him not to,since it's really not needed.

Yeah, I do find them useful sometimes, like dropping the lid from a bit higher up to the Elevape in hand, and it gets pulled in to the right place thanks to the magnets. But one is more than enough, nice of you to not accept the free lid, I am glad I was given a spare though, means cleaning less often for me.

Semantics @OF! You are right though, I wonder what the new model will be like without them... Been so long since we've still gotten to see or hear official word about that upcoming project

@Kaptan and @nosmoking
 you both present excellent counter points, and serve as a great example of the number of variables at play here and how the Elevape is used differently by many. I've had experience with both styles, and while I too prefer to stir for my own standard individual variables, but I do know that both can work quite well here. An example of dynamic ESV!

Hey @OF, on my original post with the pic, I mentioned that the Washer fell off...

On my last post, I mentioned that Joe said that he will not use magnets on future models, which implies that the washers will not be necessary either.

Not what I read, and quoted. You said there "the magnets on the lid", right? Others have also called them magnets, which they are not. That was my point?

I'm not saying there are no magnets (there clearly are), nor that some future version I know nothing about will or won't have them, just that as of right now nobody has an ESV with magnets in/on the lid????

I hope that clears any confusion I might have added?

@OF, nope. Here the exact quote of what I posted:

Bad news: One of the washers of the lid fell right off the first I opened it! WTF?

Here's the link to my post:

EDIT: Can someone tell me how to do the bottle cap screen?

I ordered the ss screens, but I don't know what holds it in place.

Thanks!

Do a search for "bottle cap" in Vape Dr's posts in this thread..or even easier, he has a video on YouTube showing how to do it, along with a few other very helpful videos on this vape.

I formed mine around a AA battery. Just shove it in and friction seems to do the trick (making sure that the newly formed "walls" are down into the circular lip that the old screen went into).

I'm still not being clear enough I guess. The post I quoted you on is not the one you're referring to. The link is in my post, but here's your message again:

The emphasis there is mine. Now agreed you're saying you're quoting Joe, but you said "magnets on the lid", right? You're not the only guy to post calling them magnets, but it sure looks like you might have done so?

The important point, and it's a small one, is there are no magnets in the lid, those are washer and glued in?

Oooohhhh I see!

I looked at the tutorial post on this thread but I thought they had some kind of ring holding it in place.

You just stick the edges inside.

EDIT: @OF,

I see what you mean...

I guess I should have said:

Joe told me that he will not use magnets on the ESV's body, nor the washers on the lid, on new models.

But that is quite a mouthful...

Let's just say that he will not use magnets on the ESV anymore.

Yep, the one I tried yesterday in fact (fine 3/4 inch SS screen) did just that. Went 'all the way down' on the sides and screened the output vents too. Not needed for sure, but makes it a solid fit unlikely to come off.

A tip on installing it: Put a temporary 'sharper' dome in the center which brings the edges inward (they 'spring back' from the battery or whatever you form them on and flare out otherwise). After the screen is well in, press down in the center to remove the dome, the edges spring out and grab the walls.

@OF very nice idea! How did you manage to form a dome? Did you use an AA battery, too?
TIA :)
Thanks.

Not an AA battery, but something very close to that size. I'm sure an AA would work. Be careful to keep it centered (you want a small very uniform lip). If you look at the mesh it has four 'corners'? Fold those over first, that is along the horizontal and vertical wires. Then 'fill in the gaps' while holding two corners in place by pinching them against the tool. They spring back maybe 25 or 30 degrees, but the dome makes it nearly plumb. Tuck it under the rim in the cover and walk it around. I used a toothpick to poke any cut wires in then smashed it all flat with my thumb pressing down on the deck. I suspect it'll take a needle through the mesh to pry it out through the slots? I figure it'll be a while before I face that and I'm fine mangling a fouled one up getting it out, I've got a bag of screens......

The dome itself I made with a pen cap (similar to a Sharpie) against the palm of my hand (soft backing). A roll between thumb and forefinger around the end of the pen made it deep and uniform.

And finally, you're welcome. Glad you find it useful.

Hi guys I need your help.
I'm having a VAS for the elevape. It's currently in my cart for less than a Crafty (267).
I'd like to know if it's worth it. On the paper I should like this better than the Crafty since I would ideally get one hit then stop, if that wasn't a session vape.
I would like to keep my tolerance at bay and Crafty doesn't help with that big bowl.
I also have a minivap, an EVO and many others for portable use on the 50/100 quid price range which I don't use anymore. On the go I was served greatly by the Crafty, but it's way too smelly (what about the ESV?) and session.
I want to buy it if I can use it as a stealthier, one hitter Crafty with hopefully no need to stir and not so messy to load (seems like I'll have to stir at some point, but ok to load on the go).
Is there any accessory I'd better buy? Really no replaceable battery?
The main site looks like this thing is a one man operation with a blog section of just a post, the "wow you created this blog" post. You all seem to like Joe nonetheless and I couldn't care less if main site is not often updated since updates for the firmware seem to flow. Will this be a good investment? 100% user replaceable but they don't sell batteries?
I would buy in EU from www.vaposhop.com which is currently having a -15% sale? Should I be careful about getting newer/older version?
Thanks.

Elevape emits the least amount of odor out of all my portable vapes.

Do you have to stir? can you load a little? I read of many issues is that a thing of the past? What about those first 100 golden units that seem to perform better than everything came afterwards, if I got it right? Cheers.

At some point it can be helpful to stir.. Personal preference of course. We discussed that just recently. Read back a little please.
Yeah, you can load only a small pinch. No problem, great results.
Technically I'd dare to say there's no issues. You just need to get to know how convection vaping works and maybe adjust to yer needs. But this one works fine out of the box.

Thanks @vapen00b ESV fell on my radar a few months ago and I subbed the thread. Then I switched off just recently. That's where I got first 100units worked somewhat better, the stir issue or lack of. But never read about EU units specifically or the many things I asked. I'll read again the last pages, I urged an answer because I was (high and) just a click away from purchase.

I think that's the same for me, at least right off I can't think of an exception. More over I use a vinyl cap to cover the MP mostly to keep dirt out but that basically stops any airflow through the unit and with it most all smell.

'This one' meaning your unit?

If not, please elaborate on your definition.
I cannot speak for any of the first 100 units.
Getting hits right out of the box is possible.
Not having to stir on a full load is not something to expect out of the box.
:2c:

No, I was referring to others units and advices made here. Unfortunately, I wasn't patient enough during initial charge and did twiddle around. So I had to learn it the other way round - and went back to stock.
Of course, as for the first 100 units I can't speak about that for sure... But those were sold a while ago and I can not imagine you would get one from Joe; if so its gonna be refurbished and like a 1XXX.

Depending on coil angle (and personal pref.) there can be the need to stir of course due to hot spots. This might very well differ one unit from the other out of the box.
