Discontinued Elevape SV

@Bastos, I noticed in your video that you check the coil with the glass or plastic cover. You can easily check the coil by blowing into the USB port while the Elevape lid is removed. Just an FYI. :2c:

Hmm never tried blowing into the usb port. Does seem legit tho since thats where air is being sucked in from. The clear plastic i use gives a good visual. In the video u cant see the coil light up cuz of angle and light. Ill post another video in dakness so you can see the coil. Im about to but vape wire and build my own coils now. Time to measure the resistance of the elevape coils. Hehhehee

I'd be careful there, I believe it's not "vape wire" but is Titanium? Most metals will soften enough at that temperature that the coil would collapse and 'swim' in the airflow. There's several inches of unsupported wire there. Given that it's something like 40 Watts at 4 Volts you're talking something like ten Amps? So that would be .4 Ohms (4 Volts divided by 10 Amps).

Joe can probably set you wise here, but I suspect the tooling to wind the spiral is not trivial. Something like a very tapered screw and a flattening die set?

I talked to Joe about building my own coils. He didn't recommend it. He told me it's a special type of wire that is made specifically for there device. I have been rebuilding my own coils for over three years on my ecig setups. FYI the resistance is 1.5 ohms.

Cool, glad you got the word on materials. Thanks for passing it on.

I got it working on a laptop, thanks guys. I'm only able to get hot air though. It's hot enough to the point that it cooks my herb till brown / gold, but no vapor at 380f. If I go hotter it just cooks it more. Any ideas to what I'm doing wrong?

Medium to fine grind, inhaling as slowly as I can while keeping the light on, no mouthpiece screen. I try hitting it for 5 seconds before taking the actual hit. Sometimes i'll lose the light mid draw though when I try to inhale quicker to get the flashes.

Hi FC'ers and Elevapers.
Long time lurker first time poster :) Back in 2011, I bought a vipir no2 bc of fc .......while am waiting for a grasshopper (preordered back in July) ,got myself a mflb in September then Elevape sv turned up yesty from vapornation came with stir attachment and screens kit for $335usd shipped. I would love to buy anything from manufacturer but Joe from elevape smart won't ship to Australia!
Anyway, the elevape came with some minor scratches and a pin hole on the body, not happy here but I could live with that. Now gotta find times to test the elevape out, its not easy when I do it behind the wifey and kids back lol.

@Eleaf420, winding your own coil is very interesting, if we can find out the gauge of the titanium wire, i am an ecig vapor also.

Oh, I don't know if it's all that hard. I've been doing it for quite a while now and I seriously doubt any of them know me from Adam's off ox? Must be your technique needs work........

I didn't follow the 'pinhole' bit, are you talking about a holiday/flaw in the finish? That would stick out for sure. You might try a Sharpie pen, the ink is really a awfully tough paint. Dabbing the tip several times allowing a bit of dry down between might effectively cover it?

Enjoy your ESV, sounds like you worked hard enough to get one.

It looks to me to be about 26g wire.
Coil rebuild done and its hittin.. Uploaded a video, u can see the coil just not when i was trigger the puff sensor. But its a Damn HOT coil at 305.
When you say coil rebuild do you mean coil replacement or did you build your own stove top coil yourself?

Like I said Joe said it is a special wire type and that he didn't recommend trying it. I don't want to short out the motherboard by trying to build my own either. As far as making this coil it's a piece of cake. There are tons of videos out there that teach you how to make a stove top coil.

What firmware version are you running?

I just want to point out one thing that I figured out as to why I was getting inconsistent vapor production. I had my coil sitting to low. I have seen a lot of pictures with everyone's coil bent down toward the hex bolt. Well what I did when I bent mine was lowered the whole coil down to much. If you are not getting good vapor production try raising the the coil as high as you can while maintiing a 90 degree angle from where the coil sits in the post. This way you are keeping the coil as close as possible to the screen/herb. If it gets burnt spots just try too keep adjusting the coil till you get the results you are looking for. Also if and when you raise your coil you will need to turn down the temps cause it is sitting closer to the herb. Hope it helps somebody trying to to get good vapor production. Mine was night and day.

Another fine video, Bastos. From what I see there, I prefer your coil over the OEM!
I have the same request as famineinthemind. Could you provide us with some more info on the gauge, type, and where to obtain this wire?

I've decided to buy this for Christmas or just after. Depending on how much my credit card can handle. I hope I do not need to mod it at all and get clouds at 190C and that the learning curve is not too far off or harder than my Vapir rise 2.0. Just looking for stock right out the box get vaped and see some vapor in the air haha.

Good news: I just received my brand new ESV! I'm waiting on the 5 hour charge...

Bad news: One of the washers of the lid fell right off the first I opened it! WTF?

The mouthpiece is loose, but I'd read about that already...

Those two things don't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about a new and expensive vape!

The loose magnet is not uncommon, my first didn't have one at all. It is not needed and Joe will send you a new lid to compensate if you get in touch. It actually makes opening a brand new ESV easier when you only have one magnet

A loose mouth piece? That doesn't allow vapor to escape does it? It doesn't feel cheap r flimsy does it? Now I'm having second thoughts just like the Crafty that is now on the no list.

The stock mouthpiece is a bit wobbly. I don't think it impacts performance.

And...the Crafty kicks ass. Mine is a few days short of a year old but I'm a light user (30 hrs).

The loose aluminum mouthpiece has been discussed here many times. It's not flimsy, its all metal... You've been poking around here a while, have you not read through the thread? That'd prepare you to buy or run, youve got time

I have read a lot of this thread. My Vapir Rise is rarely discussed here and I bought it cause I wanted it. So far hasn't let me down.

People have dealt with so many Crafty issues which sketches me out. With these few dislikes I've been reading in this thread now I'm getting sketched out again. This is a lot of money to drop on a vape. My Rise was only $250.

Mind you I like the build quality. The heat up and how it is easily cleanable. Just need a vape that doesn't need any loss and you use right out of the box minus the charging that is required.

Don't get me wrong I will pay a lot of money for things. I do. But i expect them to last.
