Good morning everyone, how cool to see all the bday wishes thanks so much! Gives me a really big grin to read them all, means alot! Had a quiet bday evening, got a really expensive sixer for my part of the country, had a small dinner and went to bed bout 7:30. My boys wanted to wait and do something with me the next day since I was getting them for a while. My girl and I had done ribs earlier in the week. I woke up the next morning, something just didnt feel right, I didnt think much about it just kept on keeping on bout 6am my sis texts me saying my grandmother in Scotland had passed, that was it. She had a great long life, she played bridge every morning her friend went by to pick her up, she didnt answer the door, she went in and found her in the bed. She went in her sleep as I would want for myself. Has been a few years since I saw her last. I remember alot about her, the pea soup she would make and oh the rice and raisins and when I was over there last saying how I thought it was better in America cause we have big roads, big cars, big trucks, she said "big isnt always better" lol she was a great woman and will be missed. My mom is on her way and should be there today for the funeral. Gotta take my oldest to work in a little while, I gotta get my butt out to the shop get some turning in before we leave. My girl and her son are coming up later for the afternoon/evening, will be a great day had!
As you all have seen above the Amboyna I am turning, the one in the lathe is a surprise for his wife. He wanted me to add turquoise. I have to make the stem/WPA to match but thats no sweat.
I did the inlay and was trying to line it out to add this or that looking here and there and in the end I just couldnt do anything else to it but add a few burn bands. The wood itself is so freaking beautiful, the inlay adds the POP, figured enough said. Sleek & subtle is sexy!
This piece below has a little live edge burling at the top rim. It had a bit more at the top but that got bored out and away. Still though what a piece
I cant wait to turn the other pieces I have in this species!
@phattpiggie Lol, at least your honest bro! I think the bdays I can remember are fewer than the ones I cant, would you say thats a good thing or bad hmmm? You are right, has been fun getting to know you and you are more than right again, there is so much pie to go around more than enough for everyone. Hope all is well this morning!

I have shipped to the EU but it was for beta testing, not offering retail there just yet. I havent attained my CE just yet but am working on it. I just got some new PS in from China yesterday matter of fact that I have to test. I found this company that offers the rotary dimmer and PS and both have their own CE for each component which will make the process of getting the CE for the WS easier. Now I just have to get another batch of heaters made and request the CE upfront from the manufacturer. I cant go back to them afterwards and obtain it. Yeah I know sounds crazy but thats how they do. I hope you all dont think I have forgotten or given up in getting it, I havent its just it takes time and money, something I dont have a whole lot of either right now or for some time. Ill have it by the time you are ready for sure. Hang in there with me, I am not going anywhere and thanks again for stopping by!

Lol, trying to get right bro, got alot of years I wanna spend with my fiance as my wife. She is such a true blessing, her soft sweet voice and honestly true being is such an inspiration. She just called me a few ago, am smiling now thinking of her she just wanted to say good morning and she loved me. She said she was sleepy and would see me later. Gosh she sounds like an angel, I cant wait to wake up next to her everyday for the rest of my life!

Sorry to hear about your grandmother, though it sounds like she had as great a passing as one could hope for. Maybe sometime you'll get to take your little ones to Scotland to pay your respects and show them the Old Country.

Let me add, I recently picked up a lignum vitae dugout from Ed (I know its not fucking combustion but I'd never owned a dugout before) and that is a really sweet piece too. Lovely work!

Good afternoon everyone, gosh its hot hot today, I spent a few minutes shooting pic on the front deck and was dripping with sweat in no time, geez. Have had a good couple a days so far with the boys, been spending most of it inside, so cool shark week is on and this is the last day a little over 4 1/2 hours left. I have been turning some the mornings of this weekend. Wow what a beautiful species Amboyna Burl is and how amazing it is to work.
@Aezhenn Thanks bro, I am glad you like those pieces, the turquoise was fun but took a lot of time and shut my big lathe down for 2-3 days. When I mount the WS its set, I dont like taking it off cause it never goes back on the same way so I do every bit of the work while its on and before I take it off. Thanks for the post bro!
@Stonocrates Thank you, yes that has always been my want to take the boys one day and let them experience there. I have so many wonderful memories doing time there. I was so close to my grandfather the first 5-6 years of my life, I miss him and those times. I am glad you like the Amboyna also, its a fun fun wood to work.

The turquoise piece was a custom piece but the others are a couple that guys hit me up wanting something different and wanted to get in on them early before they dropped. I turned 3 more Amboyna bodies this morning that I will have available very soon. 2 look like the one above and the 3rd is a piece that is similar but its design is one of a kind. I remember you getting that DO, I saw your address and figured it had to be you, Lignum Vitae is a beautiful wood too, hmmm bet it would make a really nice WS too wouldnt it hmm. I feel DO have their place also, I would rather have every option available considering there are so many instances that sometimes there is only one answer ya know.

If anyone wants to know more about the Amboyna WS to come hit me up, I dont expect these to last long. I will have several but not a bunch. I will also say that I only have one large block on this museum grade amboyna burl left, I am always looking at wood here and there. These pieces do not come often and are not cheap by any means.
Did I mention that Shark Week is almost over, I gotta go!

Yoooo, lo and behold, a big white mailing tube from Mississippi showed up in my box today.
(This one is a silicone dab rig from Pulsar with an aluminum Titan Stem for a glassless setup.)
(The good ol' D020-D)
Edit: I will give my thoughts later, of course. Still trying to figure out just where things should be on the dial, and actually I feel like to really give it a fair shake will take at least a few weeks, so stay tuned.
