Review of e-Nano from fairly seasoned vapor:
This is my first log-vape, but I've had the EQ for more than 3 years, used a Vapor Bros for a year before that (and some since) and the MFLB for about 3 years. Also have good friend with DBV that I use regularly. Smoker for 30+ years - and still about half time till I got the nano.
Initial impressions:
Was packed bombproof and the direct draw wands come in little test tubes with caps. Nice touch and great if you're like me and like to take your toys out and about. Comes with a little muslin bag that fits the nano and cord easily. Burned mine in at full 10 heat setting for about 1/2 hour. No smells or smoke at all.
This thing is beautiful in cherry! It is a bit smaller than I thought it would be, and am very happy about that. Fits perfectly in the hand and any thinner it would probably get a little hot to handle. Wood grain & finish are lovely; fit, finish and workmanship are great. First few test hits through direct draw at 5 1/2 - 6 were very tasty and effective. Did get a little weed dust in my mouth with no metal screen over the built in glass screen - but think I prefer using metal with it than I would with smaller holes in glass.
Regular use:
Through glass: Have had it about a week now, and use much more with 18mm gong through glass than direct draw. Through glass this thing is f'n amazing!!! Have run it through low volume thin tubes with showerhead and waffle (sometimes called ice-cube. Basically like a little glass tongue with holes in the top of it). Worked very nicely with both. Tried it one session through the Leviathan/M&M Tech Lattice bubbler. This thing is like a big beer mug, so much more volume. Was nice, but seemed glass was a little big for it for me. Hit nicely, but by the time I filled the bubbler & cleared, had me just about coughing. This was on heat setting 7. Using with Zob Circ Perc was similar, but not as bad. Zob usually reserved for smoking around here though, so just did a few hits to check it.
On the Ben Wilson Inline the nano rocks!!! For me they seem like the perfect match (at least at this point). This is a taller thinner piece with inline. There have been some updates since I got mine, but pic here
B. Wilson 3x Donut on ALT. Great volume, great draw. On heat setting 7 I get large clouds that are very tasty & hearty. One tube with a little less than .1 g gives a nice buzz. 2nd really gets me going. After the 3rd I'm pretty much too vaked to do much besides watch TV.
The waffle lives at my GF's and used that rig for a night or two. Her impression... much better hits (and easier to use) than MFLB with PA. Same as compared to the EQ. She loves the nano so much I didn't think I was going to be able to get it out of there! The two of us were almost too vaked to go out for a few beers at our fav watering hole after sharing 3 tubes.
Have left nano sitting on whichever piece of glass for a few minutes here and there. This has worked very well for me and didn't seem to produce vapor without drawing on it. Don't know how long I'd leave it on there for fear it would over-heat the weed, but no issues at all for short periods between hits.
There is a little play between nano and glass gong, but hasn't been much of a problem. And, think this makes it easier to drop the nano on to the gong without having to be lined up perfectly straight.
Direct draw: Works great too and gives nice hits. Had a few crumbs coming through the glass screen, so added a stainless steel screen. That took care of the issue. Doesn't seem to need quite as much heat using it direct draw (same as pretty much everything else). Very convenient to load up a tube, take a hit or two, and just leave tube on until next hit. Haven't left it for more than a few minutes between hits, but at heat setting 5 1/2 no cooking or vapor produced without drawing on it. Also a little wiggle between tube & nano, but not too bad. The little bit of play in the glass allows a few crumbs to spill down into the nano when upright as the tube wiggles around. So far has been easy to blow out since what falls out is pretty much dust, but suggest you let it cool first.
General:
The dial works well and is very responsive. I was surprised, but can tell a difference moving it as little as 1/4 setting at a time. Just a little resistance when turning it. Guess it could be bumped and moved unintentionally, but haven't had it happen yet. The nano gets a little warm to the touch, but certainly not hot enough to feel like it is burning your hands at all. Can hold on to it for 3-4 minutes with warmth, but no discomfort. The cord seems a little short for me, but hooked up to cheap-o surge suppressor/multi-plug did not seem to drop heat any. The little purple light does increase/decrease dimness depending on heat setting, but I can't really tell what setting it is on by how bright it is. So very cool, but not too functional for me.
Seems like it doesn't really need to be stirred at all and will still give pretty even roasting. I can't help but give it a stir every few hits - or at least for one last hit before dumping it. I'm too conditioned from previous vapes to not stir I think. Haven't been using a grinder too much for this. Usually finger grind which seems to be enough. After load gets dry & crumbly, break it up and stir with toothpick or glass dabber. If you do this and roast till brown, you can squeeze every bit of actives out of your stash (up to temp points of course). Still save my abv for cooking, so no big to me either way.
As far as the concerns that were bouncing around about the aluminum used in the lining, I think they are unfounded. It does get warm to the point you probably don't want to touch it, but certainly not to alarming levels. The center post (which I believe is stainless steel) with the heater core inside does get very hot. Not red hot, or even discolored, but bet it would burn your finger pretty good.
A few quibbles... As others have said, wish the cord was a foot or two longer and that the dial was closer to the plug. Hasn't been much of a problem, but seems like the dial is often hanging in mid air with my set ups. Don't really see a need to adjust temp once you're set up for gong or direct draw, so wouldn't matter to me if it wasn't right there close-by to change. The little purple LED is a pointy bulb. Hard to explain in text, but the little nipple on its end is pushed off to one side in the recess where it sits. Not a big deal (and is fun to look at while stoned), but it is the only thing I've noticed that isn't perfect in build quality. The little bit of play in the glass that allows a few crumbs to spill down into the nano. The wiggle/looseness could also allow you to drop the direct draw tube while using if not paying attention. Hasn't happened to me yet, but if you were to tip the nano facing down, the tube would easily fall off.
Conclusion:
This thing is a giant killer!! I love it and am so glad I got it. Don't think you could do much better for any vape at this price. It's gorgeous (and doesn't scream "weed" with appearance), simple, efficient and will rock your world. Love the adjustable heat dial and fact that it goes to 11. Really, it only adjusts up to 10 (which is probably easier to navigate) but cool the 11 is on there. With the gong attachment I can't imagine the cloud is going to do much more - certainly no more to justify the price difference IMO. The quibbles I mention are just that, and only that. None of them cause me any regret at all! Some time in the future I may extend the cord a couple of feet in between the nano and the dial (after discussing with Andy of course).
Working on vid now and will put it and a few pics up soon.
