Hey Peacockfur, I own a Xl e nano, but have never tried the Og.
I can say that the xl log is impressive, escpically when doing larger bowls, the extra power of the XL allows large bowls to be vaped in few hits.
I on the other hand mostly do small bowls(0.06g) exclusively. The Xl can do small bowls really well, probably not as efficient as a OG e nano however, but close.
I don't know if the extra power of the XL helps out at all at lower temps, and smaller bowls.

Some small problems with the Xl. The stems don't mate up perfectly with the heater=loss of suction, air getting into vapour path. Also, there are no long(8inch) stems available for the xl, the best they have is a shorter balled stem which works well. There is no glass water piece adapter available either.

If I was to do it again, I might pick up a nxt e nano instead, and fit it with the 8 inch long stem, and the gong and be happy with the smaller loads.

Huh, seems like some odd oversights on the part of enano. I wonder why they would release the stems without a good seal? That's disappointing. I figured the micro dose mininum would be lower than the standard enano, I think the NXT might be the one for me then when my current OG kicks the bucket.

It has a crack running down the whole side, the plug housing is broken and cracked (I have to hold it in while I hit it lol) and on top of that one of the power plug prongs is loose lol. I'm very excited about the new stand they are putting on these along with the heat dampeners to keep the outside cooler. Very excited for when I can finally afford one of these bad boys! Unfortunate that I will have to get a new stand though...

I did just order one of the long stems with a glass screen to try out, pretty excited about that, ive often thought the vapor could be just a little cooler on my preferred temp of 7-7.5 and I don't really like using water pipes.

Hey y'all, I have some questions on the enano XL and I'm hoping someone with experience with it will have some input. I'm very curious about this version of the enano for myself and when I share with friends.

1. Is the vapor production better with the additional surface area?

2. Is it possible to micro dose in the same way as with the standard enano? I imagine the minimum load is larger for the XL.

3. Any other benefits or negatives over the NXT?

2. yes it is possible to use them with the same quantity or even less by either cranking up heat, or at low temps but using the ajustable screen stem and putting it closer to the tip of the stem. I microdose with the XL and always prefer lower temps and adjust screen to be closer to the tip. I dont know exaclty how much it is, but my standsrd dose is half a dynavap tip, which I know is quite a small quantity.

3. XL has much better refraction time and slighty bigger bowl. XL has worse performance using stock stems ( especially with the ICE stems); with aftermarket stems or adding orings to the stock stem, XL is better than NxT: it's more efficient. Once you do the oring mod to the stock stem or get an afternarket stem, the XL has better perfomance than NXT.

Now, are these aspects worth the cash difference... Im not so sure.

Hope it helps. Ive tried and owned all the enano models. If I had to choose, Id always choose the XL but it is annoying how the stock stems dont really fit properly.

Do you have any reccomendations for aftermarket stems for the XL? I like that the heater seems more powerful, or at least.more saturating.

Only maker I know of is @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd JoDa glassworks. Havent received mine from
him (ordered recently and I live in another country), but I did try a wpa of his a friend has and the seal is perfect... no need for cap screens or orings.

If you do get an XL , try to get it on sale... IMO Retail price is not fair for the innefectivity of the stock stems.

But the vape itself and the power dial it comes with are an inprovement over the OG and the NXT

I heard Eds tnt makes one of the better fitting stems for the nano xl, but your giving up the all glass vapourpath if you go with one these.
It's true that the stock stems all suck. I have the stock stem(Way too hot for any temp), and I have 2 Ice stems. One of the ice stems was sent free as a replacement for the first ice stem not mating well. When I take the 3 stems and put them next to each other, they are all slightly different lengths, and all have different tolerances when fitting the basket screen into them. The first ice stem I received didn't even hold the basket screen in, it was too loose. The second ice stem had tighter tolerances.
The OG nano had non of these fitment problems I believe.

Yeah I really prefer all glass if possible. Unfortunate...
I wonder if they changed their manufacturer or maybe they are just having issues with the new spec? Has epickai given any updates on the subject matter? I wonder if they are seeking to improve this. Id love to spend extra for an XL but right now it doesn't seem worth it with the stem issues?

I believe their old manufacturer actually passed away is what I heard. I was in talks with Andy a ways back about taking over production of all glass enano accessories for him but, the conversation never really materialized into anything. Too bad too because the stock stuff now is just sub par. My fitment is on point!

OK, I wrote a long-ish text post in response to a question about E-Nano stems in another thread started by @cosmic badger , where I detailed my cleaning technique for standard / adjustable SS-screen E-Nano stems. (This would also work for the long stems, possibly for the XL stems, but not for stems with fixed screens, including ice stems.)

I've referred to this technique in other posts here and elsewhere, I think, but never really owned up to the full description. See this post for the text version of the explanation (which has some details not covered here):

I am myself, however, more of a visual thinker, so I have produced two info diagrams below which show how to perform this kind of cleaning.

This approach works at the desk, with no sink (or plastic bags, etc.) and can be completed in a couple of minutes (closer to 60 seconds if you practice it a lot).

OK, this first diagram gives an overview of the technique—read the numbered steps from top to bottom:

Stem-Clean-Technique.png

The next diagram details how to fold and roll a tissue to make the “plug” or roll: you could probably just scrunch it up into a wad, but the (very fussy, I admit) approach below seems to work very well every time for me, and really only takes a few seconds once you get into the rhythm of it.

For this diagram, read down the left side, then up the right side!

Cleaning-Roll-Fold.png

Well, that came out REALLY LARGE, but I hope it's still workable for people. (Kudos to Lisa Simpson for her work as a hand model.)

OK, I hope this is useful to people—let me know if you try it and: (1) have trouble; or (2) have suggestions for improvement.

Nice work, @cannasoor. My nano is the easiest vaporizer to clean that I own. Instead of tissue, I use paper towel because it holds up better than tissue when moistened with iso. I also soak my screens in iso for a little while to get them clean. I have half a dozen screens from way back. They've held up fine in rotation over the years. When I clean, I push the dirty screen out, put it in a bit if iso, clean the stem then push a clean screen in. Like you say, can be a sixty second process start to finish. Two minutes max.

The question is... How do we clean the balled stem?
I leave mine submerged in alcohol over the night giving it a few shakes in the alcohol. Next day I empty the alcohol and submerge again for an hour or two then and shake very well and empty then run under very hot water.
BTW i use 75% alcohol because any higher proof alcohol is very difficult to find in my country.

This is pretty much my approach, but with a bit of sea salt added more recently: it seems to help the alcohol scrub the residue off. I try to use very little alcohol, and just enough salt for a sort of "slurry". But the relative hassle (comp. to standard/adjustable SS-screen stem) is enough that I rarely use the ice stems. (Sorry to hear re your alcohol access issues.)

(I've also been adding salt to the water in my Orbiter lately, but even at very small quantities (< < < 1/4 teaspoon) it seems to have a bit of effect on the flavor. Maybe I need different salt.)

I use an eye-dropper (comes as cap to a vial) to put ethanol on the tissue plugs for cleaning my beloved E-Nano: very frugal, and ensures even coverage quickly. (Again, no diagnosis of OCD, so I do these things just as an amateur.)

I use the same ethanol ("Clear Spring" 95% = 190 proof, avail. Oregon OLCC stores) for cleaning my E-Nano stems, my storage vials, my Lotus, Orbiter, other glass stems, etc. But I haven't bought any in about 18 months, and I still have about 1/4 of a 375 ml bottle remaining. So maybe that less-than-a-pint bottle will get me through 2 whole years … ??

Hmmm … I probably need to clean more often :doh: !!

… head was hurting from that PhD level diagram and discussion on how to clean a damn stem.

And here I thought the pretty pictures would make it easier to follow!

Hey, can someone around here grant me a PhD in weed? That would be kinda cool, tell the truth. :sherlock:

What are we doing here people?
getting high and talking nano.

Yes! … And speaking of which, back to tokin': got some Icarus 2.0 and some Blackberry Dream waiting in a couple of Nano stems, so off I go!

[is it still “toking” if I'm vaping instead of combusting? Inquiring minds want to know!]

Wow, lots of flower you are stuffing in there.
Yup, not for me though, about 5 times more herbs than what I usually need and too complicated to microdose with. That stem is for guests to pass around.

For me I use the adjustable screen stem with no cap screen, since the one i got with the XL fits relatively well against the heater without the cap and I have the adjustable screen as close as posible to the tip and fill about half of it. This stem doesnt cooldown the vapor though, so I already have new stem waiting for me at my sisters in USA... soon I'll be using one of JoDa's stems

OK, I guess I am just an old-school, OG E-Nano kinda guy, but I don't get how the XL stems work. (I'm looking at @cosimo 's picture above loaded up with 5 times too much herb  and assuming that's an XL stem.)

I understand that screens are put above and below the weed, unlike my little ol' OG unit. And @cosimo has left out the "upper" screen here (not upper in the picture, but upper after the stem pictured would be inverted and placed on the device).

And, finally, I have heard that the lower screens (like the one pictured here) are the "top hat" style, with a rim.

But how does the stem sit on the "stalk" at the core of the Nano, then? Does the top hat screen "engulf" the tip of the stalk? It seems like it would wobble waaay too much if that were the case, just due to the screen being a bit bumpy, and maybe also not enough depth. And the metal-on-metal of screen to stalk would bother me (like nails on a chalkboard, but without the sound, if that makes sense).

Is this what people are talking about with XL screens from Epic not quite fitting well?

I feel like I'm missing something obvious here (despite my recent PhD in weed, see above ).

I have heard of several people now, here and on /r/vaporents, say that they use only one screen on the XL rather than two, without any issues. I certainly have never had any problem on my OG with just the one screen. Maybe twice in 7 years or so I have found a flake resting on the tip of the "stalk", and perhaps every other week I see something smaller-than-a-typical-pepper-flake sitting way down, at the bottom of the the inside of the log (a quick blow and/or a little "tap" with the unit upside-down usually clears it just fine).

Thanks for any enlightenment that you (@cosimo or whoever) can provide!
(Be careful drawing any diagrams, though: tough room!)
