Hey everyone I've been lurking for a while and decided to sign up. I recently got my massdrop e-nano delivered today sans the gong but that's ok CS said they would send it out right away. I went to use the nano and after about 4 min of being on I heard a loud pop and now the nano won't heat up, the little blue light won't come on either. There is also something rattling around inside the nano. I have emailed CS about this. I wanted to know if anybody has every had a unit fail so quickly.

Very few faulty units but sometimes it happens. Mostly Epic is having some problems with the glass stems/GonGs that they are getting. Hopefully that's already cleared up.

My wood split from the top to the bottom but the unit still worked fine. I did send it in for repairs, it looked like they sent me a new one. It's about 1 - 2 weeks turn around time. It looks as though everyone is back from vacation at Epicvape so things should go pretty smooth for you.

Welcome to the Nano family - that's a bummer about your unit not working. That noise you heard wasn't a good sign. I'm sure Epic will make it right.

EDIT
Soon as we think we're cured, VAS rears its head again so be on guard.

For anyone who uses the long stock stem, do you guys turn the Nano horizontally (or maybe even upside-down) when hitting to avoid herb touching the heating rod? Not sure if that's something to worry about or not.

This isn't a concern when hitting with the GonG since the unit is upside down and only hot air is going through the herb.

You don't need to do that, like hold it up side down. Hold it how you would naturally hold your vaporizer. I pick mine up to take a draw, just don't overfill your Nano. A little is all you need.

You can adjust the basket screen lower if need be. Just play around with different depths and temps. Probably around 6 maybe a little lower or a bit higher depending on you and your cannabis. Some strains require different temperatures, the dryness or how damp your herb is makes a difference.

It's not that difficult of a vaporizer to use. Just relax and enjoy.:)

EDIT

I turn my nano up side down while inserting the stem. But draw like I would any other vaporizer, right side up. I guess it would be on an angle but it's in the natural holding position. I don't concentrate on holding it a certain way. The herb will stick together when heated. If it's not too close to the heating element it won't char.

I find that herb falls down to the heating element no matter where the adjustable screen is placed or how much herb you load...because of gravity.

Taste is much worse when it gets charred. I'll stick to using it with water and my piece when possible.

When hitting any of my logs dry I do try to keep it horizontal or at least on some type of angle. I just get annoyed with crap on my screen and in the bottom of the nano. A light tamp may also help keep ur load from falling out also.

On point CarolKing!

Moving the screen down helps more than most would imagine. Make sure to press your load back down after stiring. 6/ 6.5 seems to be the general consensus on the best temp. Make sure to give your vape time to go down from 10 to your preferred temp. Also please DO NOT leave your stem on your Nano when not in use.

I keep mine horizontal or close to it when going with a straight dry stem, also. Once you do a few hits it all kind of solidifies in there more, so not as necessary until after a stir.

My favorite way around this while going dry is to use a J-hook and a GonG adapter. This keeps the nano inverted so no worries about loads and gravity. J-hooks can be had for reasonably cheap from many places.

These guys get it. Thanks for the advice.

Yeah... I'm not a fan of having anything touching the screen either. IMO it gives that smoky taste and sensation that sometimes comes at the end of a load - usually a larger one. Or, the same kind of flavor I'm trying to avoid by going with convection instead of conduction.

I still do it by mistake from time to time (usually after a load or two and without enough light on), but have learned to feel the nano hit the load when I put it on. I'm pretty good at gauging my loads, so when this happens the material is just a tad too high in the glass. I quickly pull the nano, blow off the couple crumbs that may be sticking to the heater port screen, then give the load a little nudge with a tamper. My favorite tamper to keep nearby is still a golf pencil and it works great in these situations. Throw the nano back on and all is fine.

Sometimes crumbs will still stick to the heater port screen despite a good blowing off. E-pik works great to knock it off. This must be like use # 10 I've found for this thing! A true vaper's multi-tool. Have my Kind Ashtray set up to hold it, the golf pencil, a clean GonG adapter and of course my trusty Scoop-N-Stir close at hand.

Ill take a pic of my nano heating element soon. I grind the hell out of my material, don't mind when it touches the screen (but never combusts), I use it with herb on top of the heater and nothing falls through.

Occasionally something sticks to the screen when I remove the stem, but that blows right off and not into the device.

With a log vaporizer it's a simple design but simpler is sometimes better than all the new fangled units out there. For the most part the flavor is wonderful unless you accidentally bump up the heat to 8 so you could char the whole bowl that way, not combust. If you have the screen vs herb at the right distance you shouldn't have any problems with a burnt taste as long as your heat is not too high.

Ive had my 2 units for about 4 months so I'm still in the learning phase too. A shout out to all those that have been generous with their time and knowledge getting some of us newer owners up to speed.

It might help to read through about 20 pages of the thread if you are a newer owner. There's some great info throughout this whole thread. I read through most of it waiting for my Nano to arrive. Sometimes it's easy to overthink something when it's new.

How often do you folks clean your stems? I find that over several days of use, I get a lot of resin build-up, especially around the edge of the screen, which eventually starts restricting the draw.

I currently have the screen at the recommended depth of 15mm. My sessions usually include a 10-minute session at 6.5, finishing the load off later with another 10-minute session at 8.0. I store my medicine at 62% humidity using Boveda packs.

I try to clean my glass and hose after every use. Two ISO and one final water rinse and I am good to go. Of course there is the couch factor at the end of the day and cleaning pushed back for a session or so. I really like the taste of herb through clean glass so I try to keep up.
I am looking for a small J hook that I can use. Right now I am using my water piece adapter and whip (looped) but I would like something small enough to fit in the cleaning basin I am using now (5.5" X 4") anybody got a source? Thanks

Glass every few days. I don't like to go longer than that due to the amount I use, as the screens get dirty restriction goes up, and it is harder to produce the same consistent results. FWIW I have found in the few instances I did combust with the Nano, I tended to have a clogged screen.

Usually quick clean my glass after every 10 or so sessions through it (a week or so). This is usually just a clean screen and a quick dry scrape, sometimes a swab with an ISO dipped Q-tip (and good rinse of course). Once they start getting cruddy I gather a few and scrape all I can (if worth it) and soak in ISO for a while. Clean with Q-tip and hot water rinse. Can also do the milk reclaim trick. Sometimes do this with nano glass, but not often. Usually I don't let it get that dirty. Milk trick is just boiling some milk and swirling your dirty glass in it until the reclaim transfers to the milk. Clean out the milk with hot water (usually don't even use ISO) and it comes out sparkling.

I find dirty screens are usually the real problem, and glass doesn't degrade flavor or effect too much unless really cruddy. So, always have a few screens in rotation (7-8) and replace as needed. Once I have a half dozen or so in the dirty bin, soak in ISO for an hour or two, hit with an old toothbrush and rinse clean. Dry and throw into the clean bin.

EDIT:
Can't believe I forgot this bit.... In between swapping screens I often set the nano to 10 and put it on the empty stem/GonG. Don't really inhale it much - maybe the first hit to get get the reclaim - but draw into mouth and blow it out. Leave nano on and do this a few times in a row, then pull nano and blow it out in opposite direction. Seems to work OK for a quick clean and keep things flowing better. Nano usually cools back down to 6.5 or so in about 10 minutes or less.

So many places! iOffer is usually a good source for cheap glass. OregonGlassBlower has been good to me over the past few years. He makes a funky long/high one.

Don't think it would fit in your cleaning basin, but any of this stuff is pretty easy to clean. Dump a little ISO in, cover ends and shake, dump ISO out, rinse clean. I also save the ISO and use it over and over. When you dump it you'll probably get a couple drips on the outside. I just use that to clean with a paper towel. IME if you're cleaning regularly the inside of a j-hook doesn't get too bad unless you're playing with hash or concentrates.

Bake Bros has a few j hooks of varying sizes and shapes.

If you don't mind waiting for cheaper glass, DHGate has quite a few. Cheap but shipped from China, and best to stay with vendors that have been a good record here in the Cheap Bubbler Thread. This one from SunshineStore looks OK.

Or, you can go the other route and get a nice worked custom. More expensive, but well worth it IMO if you're going to use it much. Check our Joda Glassworks - there is a gorgeous one at the top of this page. Or, Yeti House Glass. I LOVE my Jeti J-Hook! It would easily fit in your cleaning basin.

Plenty of others around, also. Think these are about as easy to find now as a small glass smoking bowl.

Pic of my Yeti J-Hook. What I use for going dry most of the time since I got it. That's a Joda carbed GonG on top of it - in need of cleaning as you can see!! This is about as dirty as I usually let any of my glass or screens get before a scrape and screen change.
