How far away from the temp control is the unit itself?the unit or is it fixed?
The photo is misleading. The dial is now aprox. 8"away from the unit. It must be long enough to not be a problem when using a GonG, but must not be so far from the unit that it's constantly falling off the table and dragging the unit with it. The cord will be 6-7' long. Would love to hear thoughts about where the placement would be best. This is why we do 'Betas'

The cord is 'fixed' in the unit, it is not a plug in. From my research on FC it seems the 'plug' appears to be a weak spot prone to failure in other 'log' designs so I eliminated it.

While it may be 'the' weak spot on a log vape, it is easier to change out a cord that may become damaged either outwardly visable or simply wires being broken due to usage movement. The only way I would want a fixed controller on a log vape is if the cord and controller were of the absolute top quality.

What a guy!
I'm excited to see this vape develop. I do like the idea of having a rheostat type of control on the cord eliminating the need for a VV power supply. Essentially, this way of temp adjustment is already well proven with a number of other vapes. As far as the distance between the vape and the control, I would want it to be long enough to set the control on my desk and pick the vape up to use with a bubbler. My guess is that around a foot of cord between the two, 8 inches would leave the control dangling and clanking against my piece. As I think about it, it needs to be close enough to the users to make adjusting it easy, but far enough away as to not interfere with the use of the vape itself.

I have to agree with what Jeppy said about the fixed cord. While I know the cord has been one of the more difficult things to source for a log vape, I also know that it is the one part that is most prone to failure. I'd hate to have to perform surgery or send my Nano back because the cord wore out.

I looked at a few things I have that have a I will call it a "thumb wheel" off and on switch on the cord. my old lava lamp is 16 inches for reference. I picture holding this sitting in a chair and would guess in the 14 to 20 inch range would be about ideal, too short a distance will make it a PIA, when its farther away from the unit it would give the user more options as to how to manage the temp adjuster.

I feel a lot will depend on the size and weight of the vv temp adjust unit itself really, seeing it pull the e-nano off the desk would totally sux big time.

After further pondering, I have come to the conclusion that with the 'log' style vapes, it is the cord itself that is the 'weak' point. Since a log is meant to last possibly 20 years of daily use and, hence staying on 24/7, it is indeed the 'cord' itself that ends up being the weak point of any log, whether fixed or detatchable. So, considering this, I think it is fair to say that a detatchable cord is the way to go as it is much easier to repair than a fixed. Additionally, some people run multiple logs from one PS, simply unplugging one and plugging in another.

I was clicking around epicvape.com and found the E-Nano in the 'Accessories' section of the store. I have been loving the time with my EV-2. What a wonderful delivery on Christmas Eve! Thought others might be interested that the nano version seems to be available now.

I just ordered one to add to my arsenal, can't wait to feel the warmth in my hands!

ive owned an epic vape since beta of e-1 and i would have to agree that the cord is definitely the 'weakest' point of the vaporizer. I just sent my unit back due to the cord being cut and ive had to do it once before. A detachable cord be an awesome idea!

Andy@epicvape mentioned that in post #7 of this thread.
Discounts and priority delivery will be available for current EV-2 owners

After experiencing the EV-2 for only a day or so I couldn't resist picking up the E-Nano. I would love priority shipping but am more than happy with the discount I dug up. I used the discount code Andy mentioned in post #443 of the Epicvape EV-1/EV-2 thread, FCLOVE, for 20%.

The 'nano' is for sale??? I guess 'beta' stage didn't last very long since I recieved an email from Andy on Christmas Eve, inquiring if I would like to be a 'beta' tester.

I'm very into this vape, got the order page all filled out! I would like to hear from Andy first though about wood options and if the nano is really available.

On a side note, this vape kind of reminds me of an LSV. I wonder how logs with these newer, fast heating cores heat up so fast like ceramic whip vapes, yet hit so much better. Do log vapes like the Nano (without stainless steel washers) have all the heat retention of logs like PD, UD, or CRZ? Consensus seems to be yes. Is it because they have beefier elements than modified box vapes like LSV?

The core looks to be very similar to that of the HI. The air inlet holes in the lower part of the center tube are the key to the design. They physically restrict the amount of heat that can get transferred away from the center tube so therefore more heat is available to heat the air. That is how it can heat up so fast. It does not rely on heat retention. The air being drawn through the center tube can take heat away faster than it can be transferred to the wood body. This allows for virtually continuous air heating. The Wychwood also uses this design. The holes provide a very short air path which gives it very low air restriction. The more holes there are in the center tube, There is less air restriction and more restriction to heat flow with more holes in the center tube. Ideally, the center tube would have no connection to the body at all. There needs to be just enough to support the center tube. Looks like this is starting to become the standard design for log style vaporizers. Nice to have interchangeability with the roasting tubes as well.

I'm just working on the web sites. It's not officially for sale yet. Sorry for the confusion.

I am happy to say there is not much more to report here. About .1 gram and you can can get 4 or 5 solid rips. I actually like to use about .13. Easy to dial-in the temp and the heat is stable, even when using with glass it keeps up just fine. I have run it 24/7 for a few days and no problems at all. Still not sure where the best placement for the dial should be. Using glass it seems you would want it a little further back from the unit and not too close. I pretty much dial it in and leave it for a while so I don't really need it close to the heater. As Alan mentioned above, it is nice to have interchangeable accessories. I have happily been using my UD accessories with the Nano.

Speaking of accessories... Andy - Hook me up with one of those fancy new stems!!! : )

Andy, does the E-Nano come with any glass stems or are they separate for purchase?
The E-Nano will probably ship with a glass-and-silicone (GaS) stem. The GaS stem is a no-brainer to use. The all glass stem and glass screen you have to be a little more careful and have at least a basic idea of log vaping. It is also much more expensive to produce, so it will probably be an exta accessory.

What temp/position of the dial do you find most effective? Have you cranked it yet?
