On my ti woody, the cracks have developed along the grain, it's quite understandable how and why it's cracked. I dare say the temperature changes that the wood must go through in shipping, especially internationally, does not help this. The very thin walls of the wooden sleeve is the main culprit I believe, but I can see how the metal collar that George has added will help that.
My only problem is that I have a crack on both ends (it arrived like this, although both were only small- I don't want anyone to think George is shipping faulty product, because he's not), and it's only the crack on mouthpiece end that's been getting worse (so far); the crack is travelling down the grain down the shaft of the sleeve, and is now affecting the hit quality because I can no longer just cover it with my lip.
I'm sure George will sort me out, I'm just waiting until he adds the ability to buy replacement parts, so I can group a few things into one package for international shipping.
Peace
Edit to add: yea a thicker walled wooden sleeve would definitely be nice, and would help tremendously with the cracking. I think George is kinda limiting the diameter so that it still fits comfortably in the dugout.
@VapCap and @edstnt : I think a lot of us would love a wider diameter wooden body option for a ti tip Vapcap- perhaps like a cigar shape as has been suggested before?
I've just compared my eds enano stem with the ti woody (both Cocobolo) and the od is maybe 2mm bigger than the tiwoody, but still fits in the dugout. I can see though the inside diameter of the ti woody needs to be a lot smaller than the enano stem to accommodate the stainless condenser tube and allow airflow through the carb hole...
So basically essentially we need a wider outside diameter wooden sleeve to minimise risk of cracking. Jeez this device is good, I am rambling on and on and on and on (sorry)
Peace
