I'm also looking forward to experimenting with the M7 tip on my (OG) Vong (no i!).
Ah, the wooden ones are my favorites! I have a Ti M7 tip on a Vong that I just love using.
Even kicking around the idea of picking up the THC tip/cap combo to try on the Vong now that I've brought it back from the dead.
I really like this combo and I think the Vong's pretty perfect for it.
I'm sitting on that urge right now and trying to wait and see what Memorial Day may bring.
Yeah, be nice to get a little break on it.

Vong rocks--hope you love it. And you got an M7 tip? They will be great together.
Yep, and the stainless steel B tip is a beauty, IMO.
🤔 I have a small tackle box going for all the Dynaparts. ✨ I do have a preexisting weakness for titanium, sometimes called Gawd's metal in outdoors forums. All of these designs are wonderfully thought out, matter of time until Vong struck. Terrific prices there, been searching! Tx

So it looks like my M7 cap with dents that i posted earlier will be warrantied out by Dynavap. They said they will also warranty out my Honest torch that died but they want me to take a video first. Not sure if i can reproduce the failure for a video.

I don’t use it native, so it’s usually not that bad. The crowns do get a bit hot.
Haha! Hell yes! Not bad at all. : )

The funny thing is when I first acquired the Vong I selected that DV model for its smaller size, thinking it would make a good portable (I had zero experience with DV or similar types). Turns out it's primarily doing at-home service where I appreciate the ability to use measured doses through a water pipe using IH (Wand with SKC insert). I'm not as comfortable as some with the open flame stuff (or as good at it) so found I use the electric portables (Rogue, Argo) for out-and-about, instead. I appreciate the convenience they bring but they don't deliver the tasty, concentrated and efficient hits like I get from the Vong via WPA. Looking forward to trying different tips and only just now realizing that an 8mm stem is an 8mm stem so of course I could try a Tempest head, doh! Though I'm still tempted to pick up a DV THC cap/tip pair first.

The Wand is great for Dynavapping out and about too, unless maybe you want everything to be in your pants pockets. I often times choose Dynavap/IH over the Solo 3 for outdoors, even though that's the main purpose I got a Solo 3 for!

I've tried but the Wand is just a bit too bulky/heavy as in a pants pocket is exactly where I want/need it, LOL. I like to go for ~4-5 mi walks and the Wand's just a bit too much. This is, of course, exactly where using a torch excels (much more portable) though I'm usually along or near Chicago lakefront so wind is an issue and, again, my serious lack of torch/DV skill. Eh, first world problems, right? :):leaf:

Wow, that's a cool looking device! I was always really into my silver / plain vapes and accessories (almost all of the time I rock my 2019, but lately I've been loving the warmth and playfulness of wood and colored pieces like this.
I've really enjoyed the color DVs. I missed out on a Rosium Omni, my big regret. The wooden DVs are always my favs, too. So many really awesome vapes are mostly wood, it's part of what makes collecting fun for me. : )

Hey frients,

Wanted to ask about the vape landscape nowadays:

How does dyna compare? What are they bringing to the table now to compete?

I am a fan and just want to maybe spark hotstick convo:

Got me a M7XL + wand in the sales.
Been mostly using the wand as it's simple and silent.

Have mixed feelings. The flavour is not amazing, it could be better for me. The effect is definitely there however and I do seem to want to use it so there's definetly some big positives!

Thinking it might've been worth paying the extra for a woodwynd though?

Do the Ti M's improve on flavour?

I would say that's more of a personal preference. It's almost impossibly light in the hand. The weight combined with the small airport and mouthpiece makes it feel like pulling on a joint. However, I prefer fully lined wood stems because they can be thoroughly cleaned.
Do the Ti M's improve on flavour?
For me, no. Some folks feel that they can taste steel vs titanium, but I cannot.

IME, best Dynavap flavor comes from:
  • Clean device
  • Shortest path
  • The temperature that matches your taste

We're not supposed to compare products in a product thread so I will only say that in general, it's not really a suitable comparison imo. Most of those are designed to be handheld desktop vapes with aspects (heat retention) that make them less portable. Dynavaps are more pocket portables in that they heat, hit, cool, and stash quickly. Most of those are built for a single heating with extended hits, are heated by a med or large torch, have larger bowls, are convection or hybrid oriented, etc. Dynavaps are meant for a handful of heatings per bowl, are conduction oriented, etc. I think Dynavaps still are amazingly efficient, and give a darker, more sedative high. I have several of these vapes and Dynas still get used daily for quick, contained sessions or stray hits, where those compete with ball vapes, powerful logs, Bricks, and other desktops in my collection. They have a similar form, but they're really apples and oranges. I'd compare those to other desktop vapes, they have more in common. (The Convector is the outlier here, as it too is quick to heat and cool. But because it relies on a visual change to judge the heat up, it's more challenging to use under the sun and is thus an indoor vape for me. The CXL is even more desktop-oriented with its capacity and WPA stem.)

This is the common wisdom but I will add the caveat that Ti tips are easy to push too hard and get a scorched flavor. The Stainless tips are more forgiving and easier to push, with the M7 at the top of the pile in terms of forgiveness and extended hits per heating.*

That said, the Woodwynd is really a terrific DV, different from the rest because of its open hit, I find the flavor good for a DV, but I don't think you'd experience a huge difference there. To me I find it less likely than most Ti tips to scorch, more even in its roast, capable of big hits, and just delightfully open, especially with a perforated cap. I think the Halo is more like an improved standard Ti bowl: better to heat harder with less scorching, thus better flavor, and it passes less heat to the stem. I do like the Helix tip better, partly for its airiness, partly for its more forgiving nature.

*I usually use a torch.

Ti tips improve flavour a bit for me, but mostly because they run cooler and are better for multiple small cycles. You might want to try moving the wand insert up a little as well to cool down the max temp too, or try drawing while still heating so the herb doesn’t get too scorched too quickly.

I actually don’t like the helix tip much, I find it’s a little too much airflow and cools too quickly for my taste. I usually set my tips to full bowl capacity, fill them with roughly half a bowl of minimally packed herb. This setup gets me the airflow of my helix without wasting too much heat.

Getting great flavor out of Dynavaps is all about the technique, like any manual vape. I usually treat mine like a Vaponic and slowly work it up to ripping clouds temp, with the click indicating when I have arrived there, or close to it. When I do a good job the flavor lasts the whole bowl this way. Certain tips or tip/cap combos can go right to rip temp and still taste awesome, but they can all taste good by taking it slow. With IH I've been not waiting for the click back since it is easier to be consistent with. I try to avoid the second click when doing slow bowls, but if it happens towards the end of the bowl it's usually OK. With the Wand specifically I've just been figuring out a pattern of how many flashes I like to heat for per heating for different setups. It's important to pay attention to how much heat you are pulling out of the bowl with each hit when using it this way. For me, the Titanium tips taste noticeably different, but not necessarily better. I would describe the titanium as bringing out a "sharper" flavor, but I wouldn't call the stainless "duller", if that makes sense.

I think the main reason I still frequently choose my Dynavaps over others is because I really enjoy using them to stretch the bowl and squeeze out several dense, flavorful, almost pure conduction hits from a 0.1 or less load. That efficiency and vapor quality/signature combined with their durability, modularity, versatility, convenience, and low easy maintenance make up their appeal to me. The digger outer on the cap is one of my favorite things in vaping. After so many years of Dynavapping, I'm always a little annoyed when I need to use an external tool to unload the bowl :D
