Hi @Summer , I recently also searching for the gen4 tips, have asked dynavap but they replied that they have no more old stock. And I see some photo displayed old tip in Puffitup, so I asked and purchase a Blackwood Ti-woody with gen4 7-fins tip from Puffitup, they even send me photo to confirm what I may got, really nice CS.

You may try to contact them if you want that, I believe they only have few left.

@Willy, @Hogni meant the M in terms of draw resistance, but you can significantly reduce the resistance by adding a ti tip.
dang.. I guess I'll go with a nonavong, then. I was leaning towards getting both starting with the M, but I have bad memories of overly tight joints. Waste of weed, they were.. but I don't think I'll mind some draw restriction, mouth pulls work.
Hopefully it can milk a 1ft glass piece without too much trouble?
Being broke sucks. But maybe I'll post vids some day.

When you say this vape, you mean the M, the Omni or the VapCap family in general?

I meant in general but especially all models with the exception of the Omni. But even this has an unusual high draw resistance. You have to work on your draw tec to master the VC (all). But then it's working surprisingly well. Remember "patience" and "respect the click"!

Read all of "the best of" and all posts Squiby has linked in her signature first before ordering.
With my experiences I would order if I would have to pay attention to costs:

1) 1 x "M" with replacement kit (don't forget the "degummed hemp" for using the VC with hash a/o concentrates for first experiences).

Try it native, with a water tool or - recommended! - with a vapour cooler like that from @DDave. Just look which pairing works best for you

2) If you should like it but want to increase performanc or are interested in the different behaviour of it buy a Ti tip (don't forget to buy a cap too) seperately to change it with the OG SS tip of the "M" as next step.

The 2nd tip (anyway which one) you can use for a customized body/stem from @phattpiggie , @Winegums ,@stardustsailor or any selfmade one.

3) If you should have fallen in love with the VC buy an Omni just for trying it's performance, feeling the differences and getting one of these pieces of art.

4) Now you can start playing LEGO and live your addiction. Maybe a woody next, some more tips, bodies or stems, regular DV stuff or after market one.

Or buy an induction heater from @Pipes - absolute recommandation!
It's VapCapping at a new - very relaxed - level. Honestly it would be the first thing I would buy after the M if I should generaly like it. But if you should especially love the ritual of upheating your VC with a lighter you don't need it (at this time at least)

Just MY opinion and how I would go with the VC.....

asdf420, read the 2nd paragraph of my post here:

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/dynavap-vapcap.18853/page-842#post-1177848

And here's a pic of modifying the M tip by filing 3 grooves in the base to produce more air flow.

If you wait for the sale next week, the M will either be 15 or 20% off +/- free ship.

As I was interested, this is the only evolution of the tips I came across:

Here's 2 pics of @phattpiggie's I found:

"here's the Ti I have, left to right.
First gen, 8mm bowl. Second, 8.6mm and 2 extra fins all deeper both outsourced. Third, 8.7mm adjustabowl, left hand rifling.
Fourth, 8.7mm adjustabowl, right hand rifled, both made in house.
I know there have been a few tweaks as manufacturing has gone on so there may well be other versions of the tips."

@Baron23's pics: (*Sorry about the highlighting guys, but was unable to fix.)
Link

my-tips-jpeg.213

"Far left is the original that came with my Ti Woody and its clearly a Gen 2, outside manf, with seven cooling fins.
Middle is sort of a Gen 2.5 that never really made it out. Its a Gen 2 but with thinner walls that George was investigating and gave me one to see if it would help with the awful draw resistance I had with my Gen 2. Seven cooling fins, outside manf.
The far right is the one I'm using now. This appears to match up with your Gen 3 shown above. More convection grooves, still has left hand rifling, made in house, looks to have adjust-a-bowl but the CCD grooves aren't as pronounced as they look in your Gen 4 pic."

And Baron's said,
"This is my limited understanding:

1. Gen 1 Ti tip - outside manf
2. Gen 2 Ti tip - Outside manf, more fins (up to 7 from 5 maybe), and thinner chamber wall (I have one of these and didn't notice much of a difference from Gen 1)
3. Gen 3 Ti tip - inside manf, with multiple levels to set you CCD screen and much improved airflow (I have one of these on my Ti Woody and it made it usable for me compared to the original tip it came with).
4. Gen 4 Ti tip - inside manf, same as Gen 3 but air grooves were worked a bit to provide better flow

I would love to have someone with real knowledge correct this as I'm not at all sure I have it all right but this is my muddled view of it at the moment.

Edited: P.S. - There might be a Gen 2.5 or something. I have a tip with really improved airflow but it doesn't have the multiple CCD grooves. So, maybe that came in Gen 4 or its really a bit more messy than described above."

@Squiby said, "I own vapcaps sporting the second generation tip and the third generation tip; the first tip to be manufactured in-house at Dynavap.

The third generation tip was released last fall and it improved the air flow and convection ratio with the addition of more grooves on the outside of the tip. This allowed more air to be pulled and heated between the cap and the tip.

The forth generation and current tip has improved upon this feature even more by creating deeper and wider air channels.

I don't own a forth generation tip but am hoping to buy a few during the 420 sale.

I believe that the earlier tips had fewer and thicker heat disbursement fins as well.

Unfortunately, I don't have direct knowledge of all the refinements that took place in the Vapcap evolution."

I've only owned 3 VapCaps and they are all brilliant - the OG glass, the Omni and now the M with an extra screen to reduce the chamber size. Since I've modified the M to take a smaller load I find myself using it more than my lovely Ebony OmniVap! I really like the heft of the M in my hand and I think the vapor is, if anything, cooler and less harsh.
I'm saying this because I believe there are many, many factors which influence the degree of satisfaction someone has with any VapCap - quality of herb, grind consistency, heating technique, toking techniques.... I don't deny that some among you can differentiate between the evolving tips but I worry that newcomers might be put off by so many technicalities. All VapCaps are great but it's also true that VapCaps are not for everyone. I would advise anyone curious about VapCaps to buy the entry level M and experiment, practice, practice, practice.
(I've gotten a bit lost here - just want to keep it simple :peace:).

You make a good point. Vapcaps work great once you learn the technique, and while there ARE differences in tip performance, they are fairly slight once you are past gen 2 or so. Technique far and away makes the most difference.
cg, have you ever tried putting the gen 4 on the woody & vice versa to see the impact? I'm curious. Try it & lmk.
I haven't done this, Summer, mostly because I haven't felt the need to fuck with a good thing. However, for you, and for science, I will try that this weekend. If I remember.

I am somewhat disappointed that my M SS tip is not compatible with my Omni body.
Why did VC make it slightly smaller than the customary 8mm for all the other VapCaps.

I like universal modularity.

Need comfort food. :smug:

Great post, Ricardo! I’d like to ask....is it important to make the herb chamber smaller for smaller loads so that it stays ‘in place’ better for heating up than just putting less bud in a bigger chamber? If so, I’m going to move my CCD’s as well.

Probably not. I used it fine before I added the second screen and I know lots of others just chuck whatever they feel like in - a pinch of herb, a 'lil nugget, a sliver of hash wrapped in hemp :leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:. It's just that I use a medium to fine grind and have got used to using the smallest chamber size setting on the Omni, so this way I know I'm using roughly the same amount in the M. I'm not a strict micro-doser, but a very little gets me very happy and I like it that way :D

Hello fellow vapcats! Long time lurker, finally decided to create and account and actually contribute :)
I'm up to page 737, so still a bit of reading to do but I purchase the m about 2 months ago and have been in love ever since I received it. It was the grasshopper thread that initially introduced me to the vc and after reading through half this thread I decided I had to have it, since reading (most of) the second half, I've learnt a lot about how to master it. The vc even helped me fuck combustion!!
Have I mentioned how much I love reading all your posts and drooling over al your pics?
I live in Australia and no one stocks dynavap.. I've been seriously considering becoming an Aussie wholesaler of dynavap, would love my life much more than working my current office job - that's how much I love my vapcap and want the rest of Australia to catch on!

from my experimentation, i have found that when using ground herb, you can half fill the full size chamber and have results. I find the results are not as good as when it is packed into the smaller bowl. You can compensate this by lightly packing the herb down into the bowl and using gently so as not to dislodge it... But i find this more of a pain and I'm less able to regulate exactly how much I'm putting in.
Small bowl for the win.

Obviously we know some of our most experienced members here seem to get great results just putting loose nugs of bud into the chamber..... But that doesn't seem to work so well for me and my particular weed.

I'm a small chamber guy:tup:
YMMV.

My theory on smaller ground loads in the largest Ti tip bowl size (or the M's default) is that the herb tumbles around while I spin and heat, resulting in lots of herb-to-metal contact, very effective extraction. I've never had a problem, ABV comes out perfectly even. I don't know that it would matter for unground hunks of bud.

I prefer my load to tumble about. I don't grind my bud. Rather I pinch off a little nug off a flower. I like the effect. I like how it tumbles around and I like how it just falls out of the chamber when I dump the ABV.

I like all these things, but I LOVE my Vapcaps!!!

Thanks to everybody who responded with their own experience using just a tiny bit of bud in their tiny chambers. It was very helpful to me.
