Hey PPN, was shipped the 15th. I was 232 I think.
Yes mitiged indeed but it's ok since I've been getting to the opposite side of results today compare to yesterday. Now I need to get back right in the middle, as my first virgin session was. Also I need to experiment with both lighters (triple and single flame).
Next load with drysieve !

It's more a feeling than a standard of use IMO. We all draw differently and there are possibly differences in term of performance between vapcaps.... that would be good helping people telling their technique in term of :

Load size & pack :
Flame size :
Flame distance from the cap :

Was waiting for three woodies that I had planned to give as Christmas gifts. George did his best to get them to me on time, and they arrived a few days ago. All three people who got these absolutely love them. As you can see from the picture the production models are a little shorter than the prototype I have.

I also noticed the intake hole is a little larger and placed a little higher on the production models. The difference I noticed between the prototype and the new production model is that the prototype has much more draw restriction and produced more visible vapor. The new model has a much smoother draw in comparison. Personally I do not mind draw restriction so I prefer the prototype. But I am sure many others will prefer the new model.

I also got the new SS condenser for my prototype and I have to say I like it more than the glass condenser I broke. Not only is the SS condenser unbreakable, I find it performs better in the woodie.

Here's my technique

Glass-
Lighter : Triple Flame
Load size & pack : Half full/Loose
Flame size : 3/4 in. to an inch
Flame distance from the cap : Inner blue flame just touching
Heating : (down-middle-top) Middle to the digger outer side. Constant turning.
Carbhole : 1,2 open 1,2 open

Only difference for the Woodie is I don't cover the carb hole. Well, maybe occasionally.

Edit: Also, I think the TI tip is more of a heat sink so my herb doesn't brown as quickly, which I like.

I proceed to some tests:

First bowl, no vapor for the 2 first hits, I heat a bit more for the third and quasi-combusted (and got a ton of smoke/vapor).
2nd bowl, idem to the first one but I got a bit of visible vapor at the 2nd hit
3rd and 4th bowls, no more too hot third hit but still very thin vapor, although taste was better.
For the next sessions I used my Orbiter and was satisfyed to get clouds& taste at the same time, although the abv comes out definitly charred, too much black for me and if I want to get a dark brown abv I can't get any visible vapor....

I use a simple torch

I can see a good contender for concentrates (not yet tested) and I'll reserve my opinion about flowers but I'm definitly not trully amazed.

Try ground material and small bowl packs to start. The single torchs take more finesse, and the triple is easier, but you probably need to just dial in the technique still. Good luck

Let's not forget the key selling points of this vape are:
- low price
- ultra portable
- flame powered
- safe materials
- lean

I'm sorry to say but "ease of use" is not one of them, even though the "audible click" feature might make us think it's braindead simple. For sure the "click" is an awesome and much welcome improvement in terms of usability, I can't deny that. But for someone like me who so far managed to skip completely all flame-powered vaporizers (I'm a torch virgin if you like) there is clearly a learning curve as it's full on manual drive operation mode.

My results so far have pretty much been like @PPN's above, with the exception that I'm confident that the problem comes from me and not the device. There is very little variability in the caps, seeing how I imagine they are produced. There is surely more variability in the glass part, and my intuition tells me we all don't have exactly the same carb hole size (that could explain part of the mixed results reported) That's a path to explore, but if your hole is larger you just need to cover it more maybe?

I'll give it another try later today, following the advices I read earlier about the impact of the flame tip location on the outcome.

What helped me get better at using the vapcap was understanding how it worked. Before I had one, I didn't fully understand how the carb works. I thought the carb was to clear the hit, but in reality it is the main air intake. This makes sense when you consider that this is a conduction device. It also helps to stop combustion I think, as an increased airflow around the cap would help combustion spread I imagine. I also think it helps to think of the click as a reference point, and not the point at which one should stop heating. Those extra seconds make the difference for me. I've found slowly drawing with the carb almost completely closed off is the best way to get thick vapor.

I had same initial results as some of you guys, overcooking too much, very black ABV, but here's the technique I developed to solve that (mostly) with my Woody Ti:

• I load tight with unground bud (does not seem to affect draw restriction for me)
• I use a single flame torch
• I keep the carb open the entire time, never cover it
• I only heat on the middle and bottom of cap, never the top tip, slowly rotate cap with tip of 1.5" "Halo" flame touching cap. (my theory is slower heating of the Ti cap builds up the conduction/radiation vapors, increasing vapor on first hit)
• I do three heat cycles and then consider my load done
• Get clouds usually from first cycle, more in second, flavor diminishes quickly between cycles

Notes:

• First heat cycle takes a while, much longer than second and third
• I don't find the draw with carb uncovered restrictive at all, but I have good lung strength
• I've never tried the OG VC, so I have no comparison.

It's working well for me so far now that I've got my technique down, took about a day of playing with it and remembering earlier posts in this thread to figure it out. I recommend not covering the carb at all, I believe it was confirmed that is the intended usage of this design.

Got better sessions now, there is definitly a learning curve, i noticed a big difference with a fraction of second more or less of heating.

Don't use anymore the carbcap and got better taste and decent clouds, thanks Mister G, I was bored to play with the carb cap...I don't remenber why I have to use it...

I apologize, this tiny vape start to impress me more...I even got nice vapor before the clic....although I'm always on the edge of combustion for the third and last hit, maybe i only need 2...

Mine just arrived! Put about 4 bowls through it with my brother in law and we both got the hang of it really quick, big thanks to all the guys who've posted all their experiences.

Really small, like the length or a regular cigarette with a slightly larger diameter. Really love the ti/woody combo, beautiful work Ed! The wood is thinner then I had expected though, I can flex the body with my fingertips, pretty sure if I stepped on it the body would split. Absolutely beautiful though, my brother in law really wants one.

We are both already getting very good results, no combustion so far and after the first 3-4 heat cycles we are both getting some very very respectable clouds. And some very extracted abv, definitely won't bother to save it. I do wish the bowl could be a bit bigger on some future models but it's so easy to load and unload it isn't a big deal at all.

This is my first butane powered vape and I really enjoy it, it will definitely have a place in my daily rotation. Great work @VapCap and @Ed's TnT

I forgot to mention that I also did not receive the triple torch lighter. Did the ti/woody combo still get one if we said we were FC members? I definitely need to pick one up, my other little torch seems like it takes longer then all the videos. Still well worth the 10 second wait

Edit- haha and wow... Just removing the ti tip to get it out for cleaning because it was really tight cracked the wood body about an inch deep. Very minor amounts of pressure applied, so much for my choice of going wood/ti for durability, and for it being in the daily rotation. That's a hell of a disappointment, I'm blown away that it cracked from the pressure, it was the smallest amount I could use to remove the tip. Totally unusable now

I for sure would have gone with the glass if I knew it would be this fragile, I got this to use as a camping vape primarily haha not thinking that's the plan anymore

Glad to hear overall people seem to be having a pretty good experience with this vape. Not too shabby for something that weighs a few ounces, isn't much bigger than a cigarette and heats up in under 10 seconds.

All my friends want one now too. Might get one for my Old Man too. He only indulges a few times a year, and one heating cycle was ample for him to get where he wanted.

I have already shared with several light users who were able to get desired effects on one heating cycle also. I personally will use multiple bowls back to back, and feel the vap cap excels with this kind of usuage. Fresh bowl, fresh taste. I greatly enjoy the process.

I wonder if a second SS tube between the wood and the condenser tube would increase durability. Hopefully your experience won't be common, every piece of wood is different so it's hopefully just some weird grain and not a problem caused from the design.

I for one am very interested in the idea of a purely metal vapcap for maximum durability.

There will be a TI version at some point. I am hoping to have a video of one of the first TI prototypes in the next month or so.

Good morning, I would like to explain what I told @sasNW I am sure most of you know that my work is of the highest quality I can possibly turn out and is always a work in progress, I have made mock-up pieces and sent out betas here and there to only change the design and in the end it they are usually different when they get to production. I closely followed Georges specs and made them as he wanted. It was my suggestion to George to go with Blackwood and Cocobolo due to the super dense nature of these two species. Even though they are super super dense and strong in the end the pieces are wood. Wood being wood is susceptible to many factors and for the most part hold up very well in all my uses but are and can be vulnerable to factors beyond my control. Many of you all know I use these two species for alot of different pieces for just as many different vapes based on their strength and durability. I turn each piece and inspect each piece before it ever leaves the shop, if I even notice a teeny tiny hair line crack or weak spot off to the bone yard it goes without a second thought. Keep in mind that no matter how much I look over the piece from start to finish and eyeball them time and time again that crap happens, there can and may be a weak spot that doesnt show until its in the users hands and in use. I do and will always stand behind my work, am here to answer any question or concern you may have, make any and every attempt to resolve any issue or problem any one has with my pieces. This is my promise to you all and anyone I deal with. I had a customer from Greece earlier this week having a shipping problem with USPS, seems I shipped his order Monday, it was returned to me Tuesday with no explanation why, he emailed me Wednesday asking why it had been delivered back to me, I had just taken it back to the post office later that day and hadnt gotten to his email just yet. We had been back and forth before the order with a few questions he had, no big deal thats just part of the biz. I explained that I had returned his order back to the post office and it was back in route to him again. He thanked me for what I had done and mentioned that it must have been tough for me with all his questions and the run around with the USPS, I explained to him that its just is the nature of my business and how I roll. When its all said and done, I asked for this and trying to keep a successful business up and running for so many years demands so much attention, correspondence, and follow through from my door to yours. Its just another day at the office for me and what has to be done. I do what I love and love what I do, I am blessed to be able to do what I do and thankful that so many also love what I do. I have said it before yeah the money is good and all but its not about the money, I am not a rich rich man by any means, I have a great life and get by without having to struggle too much, I do what I do because I love it, the feedback, kind & positive words, and genuine appreciation for my work is worth far more than any dollar I receive.
