So.. Uh. My VapCap actually broke like less than an hour after making that coil video. Luckily the bowl just caved in and I've got a replacement glass piece here. I see that those pictures are the newer design which got rid of the metal screen with 4 of the tiniest slits, in replacement of a glass screen with 7 holes.

Looking great and thanks @VapCap it definitely improves the airflow but risks for a higher particulate buildup.
Actually, still looks like a metal disc, based on the most recent pic. The version I had was a metal disc with a number of pinpoint holes poked through it. You can't see the face of the discs in this pic, but the profile looks like we're still in metal town.
Condenser tubes don't have obvious twisting in them, like mine had. Can't wait to hear how these function, and if there are indeed any notable changes.

A short update: there was no torch included in my parcel because of some silly import restriction in my country, so I'm an exception and not the norm, don't worry.

Yesterday I had friends at home and they pressured me to test the VapCap. I said the mouthpiece had a slight smell previously... well, now it's gone... but not as I expected! Due to human error, I combusted shortly after the second heating cycle... doh! That filthy disgusting taste! Had to clean everything thoroughly but now the mouthpiece has a hint of combustion smell... :ugh:

I didn't expect the time between the "on" click and the "off" click to be so long, and the previous comments in this thread about BIC lighters being much slower were kinda misleading: it's not that slow to heat at all, and it lasts a good while between the two clicks. So if you didn't hear the "off" click, don't reheat too soon!

Today I did a second session on the gaz cooker this time (the BIC lighter tended to blacken the metal cap) It kinda worked but I need to improve my kung fu! The carb hole thing in particular is a bit counter intuitive at first... If you leave it wide open, you don't get much. But if you close it there's no flow at all. I'll keep experimenting, but I wonder why it's not made a tad smaller?

Or better, there could be a small one for air inlet and a large one for carburation (and to clear the device like a bong) This way you would be able to draw while fully covering the large one (via the small inlet) and when you are almost done you would open it to flush. Unless I got it wrong of course...

I didn't know there was a warranty, though I'd gladly pay a few bucks to replace the glass.

Mine has been replaced with a unit with no metal screen.

On the Dynavap website it says: "We are so confident in
our products’ durability we offer an unconditional lifetime warranty for
all of our backers. Simply return the damaged unit and we will repair
or replace it. All we ask is you cover the shipping."

Awesome bonus to being a backer.

Hey Kero. My first suggestion would be to try a torch lighter. Better and more consistent results. When the temp is right, there is little need to cover the hole for more than a second, and like others have reported after me i like to feather the hole, barely covering it and mostly letting in fresh air if i cover it at all.

I thought about multiple holes too, ala VapMan or Lily but after getting accustomed to the system i feel it would add an extra unnecessary element to using this vape.

My suggestions are to get a torch lighter, and try using the carb hole in the mirror or direct sunlight until you get used to the whole system. Just feather it, barely cover. You may be surprised by the vapor output even though it appears there isn't much when mixed with so much air. Draw fast when the carb it open and...practice practice practice with the heat.

Also, ground material does seem to extract with visual vapor quicker and i would suggest a grinder for now. Happy Vaping buddy.

Edit. Also a dry run or two with no material may be needed to get used to the clicks, especially in high noise areas ala concerts.

Well poop. Apparently a glass VapCap and me aren't meant to be.

I was using my finger and flicking the side of the VapCap to knock out the excess herb, somehow the entire bowl snapped off. I will take a picture of both broken pieces tonight.

Was hoping this was going to be a more positive lunch.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I am sure George can get you straightened out as the cap itself is the real gem.

I have never found any need to flick the unit. With a warm unit and the digger outter, it is easy to get out the spent herb. If the unit cools completely it can be a smidge tougher but worst case scenario for me a few extras seconds of scraping or i just blow into the unit mouth piece.

So sorry to hear about your guy's casualties, but on the flip side, it's making the wait for my Cocobolo Woody Ti a bit easier. I don't like losing the ability and feedback of watching vapor form, but the less risk of breakage seems like a good tradeoff.

Yeah. Glass may be easier to learn on, but damn I can't wait for the TI and TI/Woodies. An unbreakable VC sounds really nice. Now if only i could get an unbreakable torch.

Edit. If you are on the fence about the VC $30 isn't much to pay and try the glass unit. If you like it as much as myself and many others.. you'll end up with a handful of units including the TI and Woodie

I have some good news for my fellow international VapCap aficionados. I think I have finally found the issue with the processing. Please give it a try and let me know if anyone continues to have challenges processing.
Also, I am fabricating parts as fast as I can and hope to get another shipment out by Friday. I sure appreciate the patience everyone has shown here as I've been getting these things ready.

Oh and here is a little treat I've been working on.

Not sure what to call this one.
But it is pretty cool how the Ti tip from the woody fits on it like it was meant to be, maybe it was designed that way?

I didn't want to risk pushing the herb into the glass holes or getting it finer and dirting up the glass, I am also not that fond of exhaling out the herb as its hard to blow it into my container safely.

Ironically I always use the metal lip on the Cap for when I had the metal screen.

TiWonGy!

Now that's a unique and accurate name right there my friend, gorgeous work from @Ed's TnT as usual, wouldn't be too surprised if the Woody's fit 14mm like his Solo stems as well...

Loving the steady progress happening here George, onwards and upwards!

EDIT oh so would one be able to use the Ti from their woody, and just buy a second WonG stem (that I presume doesn't use a condenser tube like the GonG, or maybe that's part of their complexity, a condenser tube that fits?)

But that's the part of the design I'm questioning here: I find it not easy to just partly cover the hole, and when you cover it fully you get zero airflow. So why not have a small hole that is the same size as a partly covered hole plus a large hole to flush?

You would cover the large hole and draw through the small one, giving you the same effect like your feathering technic but without the hassle. And when you are done, you uncover the large hole and flush the hit. No?

I tried pulsing the hole open/close but this led to too much air. Keeping it open yields even more dilution and is not satisfying. I know I will soon improve my method but I think my suggestion could make the device more user-friendly.

Well I was wondering which style of screen was going to be the best and then this. So sorry to see. Will have to be extra careful until woody arrives.
I would like to know which style will be the standard @VapCap? And would it be possible to see a pic of woody apart?
How is the Ti tip attached to the wooden stem? Is it removeable for cleaning?

Try to just barely cover the hole instead of pulsing it. A very light touch is all it takes to partially close it somewhat.

Kinda hovering over it with just a slight touch to barely touch the hole.
Hope that makes some sense.
And I do agree that a improvement with the air flow would make it much more user friendly.

Ahhhhh I see George has give up the skinny on the wongs I made a ways back, they look very very nice. I was in such a rush to get those made and overnighted to him I didnt even think to take a pic, I did think later as always but they were in route. Hmmm just goes to show that if given an opportunity and a little time I maybe able to turn something out. Thing is the ID never changes so the wood can be what ever your heart and mind desires within reason so to speak so a straight stem turned to resemble a solo is not impossible nor is it out of the question to be as elaborate either.

Just something for all yall to think about and chew on for a bit!

Sorry for jumping in mid combo BUT I HAVE IT IN MY HANDS :D

Edit: with herb it takes some tech.

But with hashish it's amazing from the go! Wrap some in cotton or a cotton bandageish thing like I have, spark the triple torch, ignore the click, you need more heat.

I'm used to vaping hashish in the VM, Ubie etc, so I got my timing right.

The hash doesn't need to be reheated much. It gives and gives.

Lovely vapour flavour!

Now, on to more herb tests :science:

Remembered reading the mp fit perfectly in a male 14mm connection.

It does.

And it RIPS when it's filled with lovely hashish.

Seriously, this should catch on in hashish parts of the world. George @VapCap you should make tiny hash pouches to avoid a mess

It is a bit annoying that the HOT click is so much weaker than the COLD click.

I can time out a hot click just right now. Where it clicks after I take the flame away. Hehe. The click helps out with timing though. It makes it mostly foolproof. It is hard to hear the clicks with background noise though. I have scorched a couple loads in my car due to listing to my music. Haha. I can't wait to try the WoodyTi!
