So @danielj made me this stand alone MP. I put it on my 2mmXL and its really nice without a condenser. @danielj doesn't think there is demand for an MP like this.

Would you go condenser-less with an M, TI or Vong if you had a slick MP?

I don't think I'd go without a condenser when using a wooden stem, Ti or SS should be ok though.

Someone a while back, had A HORRIBLE mishap with concentrates and their NonaVong XLS! Shit seeped, somehow, from tip into the wood where the tip goes in and left an AWFUL discoloration and mess.

That alone, convinced me to forgo using my NonaVong XLS without a condenser. Not worth risking the wood even STARTING to ever look like THAT!

Happy Vaping! :D :leaf: :D

@Skunkport @TheThriftDrifter why not wood? I have not tried it with a Vong but I love my condenser-less Hickory @danielj stem and I used to have wood pipes.

@thejackalsmark I agree about concentrates in wood. But I think glass is really the only suitable stem material for concentrates. Purely just so you can see when you accidentally suck a bunch of reclaim into your stem, Ddooohhhh!!

With a wooden stem, I wonder if the condensation would act as a wood conditioner?

Has anyone put a dynavap in there mouth backwards after heating?....lol.....My girlfriend has twice.
Just wondering....lol
Jack

I "know a guy" that once heated up the mp end of his Omni in his portside mini... and then proceeded to put it in his mouth... 2 smart moves, one after the other... let's just say "that guy" will never do that again...

Sounds personal. The “guy” ‘s name wouldn’t happen to be @roonsy? LOL

(@RogueGuy Nice pic, btw!)

With A Glass stem,
Yeah, I definitely would.  :D

Don’t know if it’s just me, but I’d hate to bite into a mouthpiece that is naked metal.
Cute idea, tho. Oh. Forgot. Have some Omni mps (which I don’t use, often).

I don't know if it came fully charged and I didn't count the clicks. So I can't tell you how good the battery life is. I'll have to wait till I get the new charger.
So I got it earlier than expected. I charged the Apollo overnight and have so far counted 50 clicks. There's no battery indicator but it's still going strong. I can also use it while charging. It's great!

I'm new to the Dynavap product line and have been impressed enough that I went from an M to M Shadow to an Omni XL in a very short period of time.

A few questions, I've perceived a difference between the plain M and the Shadow. My understanding is that they are identical in every way. So is this difference I'm noticing just my imagination?

Also, it seems like the big variable my have something to do with the caps. Has anyone tried swapping out caps to get different effects since the cap seems to have the most potential for random variation?

All that aside, I have to say that the Omni XL has made me very happy. There's definitely a performance difference between it an the M and it is much more ergonomical for someone like me who has bigger hands and has carpal tunnel in one wrist.....worth the >X2+ price tag over the M

Every cap is different- some click loud, some soft. Some once, some twice. So you will always have a little variety.
With that in mind, my shadow cap definitely takes longer to click than my other caps. I remember testing my Flux IH when I first got it and the Shadow cap was a good second slower.
I am sure smarter and more knowledgeable FCers know why. (Something with the anodizing process maybe?)

Its not quite like that...heres the deal tho
@RogueGuy has been talking with me about a standalone mp. Not something I would use unless it came w/condenser (which I have made), I kind of poopooedut the whole thing, but I saw the o rings and the grooves as a challenge to see if I could make one. So we looked at the omni mp - and off I went.

Only took me 5 tries! Acetal is very stable once machined, but it does wierd things WHILE being machined. We have also talked about the importance of having some airpath restriction if you are dealing with a wide bore. So I lengthened the insert portion (and what the heck, the mp part too). I would like to extend the interior portion even further, and introduce a venturi. That is if I can actually make this without an 80% failure rate. My failure rate is already higher than I like! I suspect that we are in CNC territory here.

Im into vapor/air ratio - I am not a widebore shotgun guy, but I try to accept that others are - who knows what events and stressors prompt some folk to go to the dark side of the force:)

If it’s a 2019 M, the air channels in the tips might be different, leading to different airflow experience. (I think..all the Shadows are 2018-style, right?)

@stark1 My goal has been to offer to this community. I have not tried to sell anything elsewhere. I will remmember your interest in this mouthpiece.

That being said, I am uncertain as to the quantity of future offerings. I have been off the manual lathe for a couple of months, due to repetative stress injuries. Making this stuff is a continual dance of tightening, loosening, changing... the injury got so bad I could not grasp and turn a doorknob without pain. I know its the lathe cuz I built an entire musical instrument from scratch in the interim.(no pain). A couple of 2 hour sesions last week on the lathe, and small tinges of pain yesterday. damn

So, I will continue as I can, but in small runs, with time down in between.

I am just about ready to produce a prototype, and a small quantity of, a new IST (inside tool). The last one focused on the tip/ccd. This one will focus on the condenser and o rings.

@danielj
Have you got a pic of the "IST" for the tip/CCD? I remember hearing it mentioned, but never saw it.

I'm currently using a small "straw" and a piece from a stylus pocket clip, for CCD management right now.
