I've had a fanfukintastic two years, thank you.
50,000! holy crap that's some ancient woodGot a brand new lathe today, first thing I turned... a vapcap stem!! Using swamp Kauri, “the oldest workable wood in the world” up to 50,000 years old, the trees were buried under a peat swamp by an unexplained act of nature at the end of the last Ice Age here in New Zealand! Now that’s an old vapcap
After my first water experience last night (with a fat mouth piece) I’m super excited for my @DDave water wand. I also ordered his new handsfree induction heater kit.@DDave water wand has arrived! Thing is tiny! How cool! Ordered the SS version, but it seems both my ss and Ti tip fit more or less the same in it! Pretty sure when his Xl version lands i will "need" one of those too!
Im mostly going to use it with my M tip and a log for the most part i think though. Cant wait to have a sesh with it tonight!

It depends on who crafted the custom piece. @phattpiggie makes his stems with a condenser screwed in and I believe @Winegums does also. The dreamwood stems are condenserless. I personally have to have a condenser when it comes to wood. The idea that my beautiful stem will get smellier and smellier each time I enjoy it will take all joy out of using it but I’m CrazyFor users of the beautiful, extra, extra long wooden stems: I assume these are sans condenser ?
That's a very nice stem my-man, congrat's.
Is it lined?
I've been making myself some stems, and can't quite decide if I prefer SS lined, or plain wood.
Lined is definitely easier to clean, but there's something about the taste of the straight wood that I like too (depending on the species of course)
I'm guessing that this one is lined though, since it's Cocobolo ?
I don't think you're crazy, the condensers are there to protect the stem from getting soaked with concentrates. I've experimented with bamboo stems with no condenser and they get pretty smelly after about 20 vapcap sessions. Reclaim is hard to get off and out of the wood without using some sort of solvent or scraping. It depends on who crafted the custom piece. @phattpiggie makes his stems with a condenser screwed in and I believe @Winegums does also. You guys have to help me, please. I thought I would try @DDave's Water Wand with a IH, and I'm hooked. The taste is fantastic. The ease of use, the ease of reclaiming "Reclaim", (just cover with coconut milk or whole milk in small container, held in simmering water), the taste, I can't quit blathering on about this little jewel. @DDave you have a winner here. "I love it" Chevy Chase in "Modern Problems". Doc
It’s a milk shot with my 14mm bubbler
I didn't even think about the oils in the wood being pulled out by the reclaim! I definitely wouldn't want to be reusing it if it had the wood oils in it. USE A CONDENSER! There's not many good reasons to avoid using one.the reclaim takes on a red colour which it must be taking from the wood.
There what, bubbler? Just clarifying.Anyone else keep theirs in their fridge when not in use ?
But is there a difference to an OmniVong with a closed air hole?I’m also uber-impressed with this beautiful @DDave Water Wand! One single hit is so vapor-filled I can’t use it all so a lot is getting wasted! That’s the first hit after the 8 second-or-so initial warm-up hit. So I have a question for the more experienced... How can I get LESS vapor on that 2nd hit? Do I just use less bud (not a full bowl) or adjust the bowl to it’s smallest setting? Or stop the heating before the click?
Help me...because this Water Wand is just soooo powerful I can’t believe it! And yes, I do use my Glass Lung or home-made Vapor Lung to filter/cool the vapor, but it’s not enough, the vapor is just so thick (no, not combusted by far). I just need one smaller hit with less vapor. In fact, after those 2 heatings, the herb is still mostly green. And...should I use the SS or Ti tip or does that matter? (SS better?) Any help will be greatly appreciated. Another benefit of using the Wand is that I can see cutting my herb use in half, because I will probably get another 5 or 6 sessions out of one tiny bowl.
P.S. I’m really impressed with TinyPic at http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload
Nothing could be easier...upload your pic then choose the ‘forum’ link to copy and then just
paste it here.
But is there a difference to an OmniVong with a closed air hole?
My experience with the Omni condenser, used both in a carbon fiber stem, and in the titanium Omni stem, it that you can almost completely close off the airport, but some air still comes through. Less in the CF stem because it has a smaller airport than the Omni stem.I have a NonaVong and there’s no comparison with that or the M with the Water Wand. Hopefully somebody with an OmniVong can answer.
yes the bubblerThere what, bubbler? Just clarifying.
