So I got my cap yesterday and I’ve been liking it, but I’ve accidentally let it get red hot a couple of times and I thought I saw a spark. Now there’s a spot that glows orange the moment I heat it and I think the taste has changed. Should I be concerned?

I never let it go past the click, though sometimes I noticed it took ages to click. I also didn’t combust though I accidentally started heating it for about 2 seconds without waiting for the second one

The spark is a usual phenomenon ,yet to be fully explained .

The spot that glows orange is also normal ,but try do not stall to the same spot while heating .
Faster spinning means better extraction ,more taste and less possibilities for overheating / hot-spots .
Try keeping the flame a bit further away or more close ,just do not ..." flame-tip " the cap !

Nothing to be concerned of regarding those particular issues.

Sparks are typically minute bits of dust/debris on the outside of the cap. It ignites instantly while being blown away by the torch jet.

The hot spots are common if you over heat an area. Is your lighter too powerful? Are you spinning too slowly? Are you spinning back and forth and lingering on the mid point too long? Are you heating too far down the cap? (Heat closer to the closed/sealed end of the cap where the clicking disks are for lower temp click)

I'm not sure if a mod to fit a VC tip is actually possible on these ...whatever they 're supposed to be .

Or I can try to request measurements off the seller if there's something that will make or break it.


You're the expert obviously, but I figure the end that looks like it has a hole for a pen nib (if it's supposed to be a pen, though you'd expect them to sell a pen bit to fit it) could be bored out to 8mm?

Working off those, I think the brass end is just over 8mm so that wouldn't work, it'd have to be the other end.
If it's thick enough to seat the tip once bored out, that would be enough to work as a basic stem right?

I'm really into this idea now, I'm calling it the VapCap Montechristo

If you like the idea at all but not the base item, I can try and find some other large titanium tube that might work better?

I recently switched out my Omni condenser from a carbon fiber stem to the Omni stem. Had not anticipated that at the same setting (closed as far as possible), the CF would be more restricted, but makes sense because the airport on the CF is quite a bit smaller. Just sharing info gleaned from legoing these parts...

Quick update for the Aomai lighter owners. In case you don't already know this, avoid Ronson flints... They are too soft and their spark isn't strong enough to ignite. So you end up wasting so much butane while trying to get the lighter to fire up.

I do not believe it is meant to be a pen. Sometimes stuff gets copied and the people copying it don't even have a clue what they're copying!
I just saw an advert for Fenix 'concentrate cups' on a French website, it's actually the dosing capsules for the Fury 2.


In fact, I just had a brainwave and checked some other listings...I think it's supposed to be a casing for a stupidly overpowered 'military laser'.

Now I know why my Dynavap sending was stuck for around 4 weeks at Customs... Dynavap (again) forgot to put an invoice on the parcel, even though I asked them (again) beforehand. Well, at least it seems to arrive next week. I guess that was my last order with Dynavap directly and I will rather go with a reseller in Europe next time. It's just too much hassle.

What exactly is kief and is it the same as pollen and how is it different from hash?
I was given a small piece yesterday and crumbling a little in with my regular weed was mind blowing . It looks and handles like light brown/golden Lebanese hash and I'm told it's pretty cheap. I'm also told it's from Morocco (don't want to think about transport techniques) . So if anyone wants to enlighten me, I'd appreciate it

Firstly don't worry - it almost certainly hasn't been up anyone's butt.

The stuff that falls through your grinder screen is low-grade kief, depending how fine your screen is - it's the tops of the glands, basically little crystalline chunks of thc laden goodness.

If it's cheap, it's probably NOT actual kief.

Pollen is supposed to be compressed kief but usually isn't. Hash is supposed to also be kief, but almost never is in the UK. Here, it's mostly a purity thing. Hash is either low-grade soapbar, medium grade sput or slate, or high grade pollen, colour generally goes from dark brown crap to light golden good stuff, although the outside generally goes darker on all.

An old hippy fucked with my head once and told me how hash was made. Take a hairy individual who has not had a bath in a week and have him run naked through fields of plants for a few hours, then scrape the residue from his body.

The hand rubbed hash from Jamacia, India and Nepal is what your old hippy was talking about and does have an element of truth to it. The hand rubbed hash is going to have some sweat and skin from the guys making it there's no doubt about that. They gently roll fresh buds in their hands for hours to make beads of "green" resin with higher terpene content than sifted hash.

A lot of the farmers who make sifted hash have pride in their product and it's usually organically grown in wild fields. It's the middle men that buy the hash and cut with garbage that lower the quality of the product. The guys that are sifting it also make varying qualities of hash, so you can get the lowest quality hash that has also been messed with by someone else and you end up with soap bar.

Speaking of hash, my brother dropped off some roto trimmer kief and man is it good in my vapcaps. I missed the dry taste of sifted hash and this hits the spot. I use a fine mesh screen below my SS CCD so that I don't pull through kief when I'm using it.
