@arb I dont know if this is debris english isnt my native tounge. But it does not exactly look clean lol. Thanks for the tip about getting the wood off its base.

@Franco ill do a burnoff from now on appreciate you explaining

@Dutch-Mic No I did not inhale. Its never above 43 watts btw
Have a look..

If I see it correctly then the wood is a bit charred, so that could explain the smoke. Luckily it's easily avoidable if you inhale while heating the coil. My technique:

- two second preheat
- inhale for about six seconds
- release the button and inhale for about three/four seconds to let the coil cool down a bit.

After a while hitting this vape became second nature and now I don't even think about the technique 😊.

That's not the easiest question to answer quickly and concisely
Here's a good start point https://www.ecigssa.co.za/guide-to-fine-tuning-temp-control-vaping.t18206/
Imagine a box on the graph, that we want to intersect for temp control
To do that we can change the angle of the graph by changing the tcr value, and offset the graph by altering the locked resistance value (increasing the tcr or the locked resistance value will increase the coil temp without increasing the on-screen temp)
This thread is another good resource for info on the subject
As are the other 510 atty threads Splinter, Stempod, iheat, project, bulli ... that have had the same problems to overcome for effective temp control

Man.. one of my coils dont work as good as the other now and I dropped it on the floor when cleaning. Do they take dmg that easy? Might not be properly in the holes if it makes sence lol. Ill hit my weedeater for now and crash the sofa been a long day..

It rips! Couldnt resist hitting it again. Adjusted the coil a bit, still looks like it takes a tad longer to glow. But im getting thick clouds. I can see this retire my Mighty a bit

@Gwap You'll want to get them glowing evenly, there's loads of vids on youtube, just look for dual coil e cig atty builds. Check lead ends are in the holes and screws are tightened. If they glowing differently then one coil is working harder and one coil isn't giving enough. they may just need placing back in position.
Glad to hear your starting to get decent results

@Hippie Thanks m8, I appreciate your reply, I’ll have a read up on what you sent and hopefully gets some results. I like it in watts mode but really wanted to try TC and after spending £129 on a DNA mod I need to get my money worth out of it! 😂

Oh no :)
It's a lot easier with an Arctic Fox mod lol

Here's how to set the TCR in escribe ...
Open the materials tab
Choose the custom material option so you can give it a name you'll remember
Select Actions > temperature coefficient of reaistance > input the tcr with .00 suffix
Save it
Add the new material file to the materials on device list
Then when you go back to the general tab you should be able to setup a temp control profile using the newly created material file
Aannd upload that to your mod so you can test it
Aaand go back to the materials tab to edit it

@Hippie thanks Geezer, Iv been reading up on the links you sent and trying to understand all the jargon that comes with using TC. 😝
Iv never used TC before, always just been a straight wattage user in MTL vaping, after reading many treads I’m starting to think if a DNA mod was the right choice and should of gone for something that works with Arctic Fox! 😬
I went for DNA because it has a good reputation for temperature control, hopefully I’ll get some better results once I understand it more.

With TCR I’m reading many different things, some say SS316L should be set at .92 but I see many peeps using .130/.145/.180 etc?
Do I set TCR to what feels right to me?
Also I’m also reading many peeps saying lock your resistance and others are saying do not lock it on the DNA board?
What ohms is best to work with TC, at the mo I’m trying SS316L @0.20, should my ohms be higher?
Is 40W to low in TC mode, I’m not sure what wattage is should be set to?

Once again thanks for all your help m8, sorry for being a pain in the ( ! ) 😊 👊🏻

Inside the ecig atomizers the wick (and liquid) is in contact with the coil
In a weed atomizer there's always a gap between the coil and the load so we need to compensate for that.
It's just usually in the region of 50 - 100% extra TCR (the Splinters for example have a SS mesh element but we use a TCR of around 145)

I don't actually have a Glow but I would go with fairly beefy coils so they don't .... er .... glow lol
(smaller coils will heat up quicker but will probably glow at temp)
The power level you use in TC mode will alter the rate at which it reaches temp and maybe cause it to overshoot the set temp if it's set too high. When the coil gets close to the set temp, the software will feed in as much power (up to the max power you set) as it needs to maintain the temp. Ecig users usually set it to about 50 - 100% more power than it needs to maintain temp to get it up to temp quickly, and keep an eye on the temp when you first test it out to make sure it's not overshooting too far beyond the set temp (there's a monitor in escribe for that)

Whether to lock or not is a funny one. The mod will do that in the background when you select new atty from the new atty? old atty? prompt. If you're adjusting the resistance to offset the graph you need to lock it and always say no to the prompt. If you're just setting the TCR it shouldn't make any difference.

Stick with the DNA btw m8 - it's bit of a faff at first but it only needs doing once, and they're usually better quality mods overall with higher definition TC than the cheaper ones.

@Hippie, thanks m8, the information you have given will definitely help me understand it all a bit more, I think I need a sat-nav for TC because I keep getting lost! 😂
I just need to try different settings and see where it takes me! Lol.
I’m just waiting on some green to turn up so I test out these new settings, it had to run out on me just when I get settings to try. 😝

@Hippie when you said beefy coils would you recommend normal straight wire SS316L coils or would you go with SS316L twisted/Claptons coils for better TC? 👍🏻

I'd have a look back at some of the builds posted in the thread (and the other 510 weed atomizer threads) already and see what takes your fancy.
My fav Stempod dual coil builds were with some exotic wires like these Super Clapton wires (and some of the other SS ones in the dropdown) https://www.fasttech.com/products/3033/10017613/6191905
Similar to the pics here https://fuckcombustion.com/threads/stempod-by-mpl.25010/page-42
@Hippie Thanks m8, i’ll go and have a butchers at them. 👊🏻

Hi,
I think I experimented all kinds of coils with the glow, if you look back in the thread even a 20 gauge pancake coil. The heat dynamics of the base and body makes it glow anyway if you want to fully extract. Also it heats so much that it alters the coil so you have to reset tcr or coil value to keep the same Tc behavior.

Does anyone have a source for the new mesh dosing capsules in the united states or without the EU export costs? I really love the new capsules, but paying the large shipping rate just for them becomes a hassle. I wasnt sure if they were a standard size if they made them custom. thanks!

They look the same as the TinyMight mesh pods, are there any TM dealers in the US?

Has anyone ever tried a NiChrome coil in their Glow?

I've been playing with the Glow 14 and 18 recently.
Both work great, but there is something you should be careful when using stems with the Glow 18.

IMG_20210624_173440~2.jpg

Left is the stock stem from the Glow 18 V2 and right is a XL8R type stem. The stock stem is shaped a bit differently.
If you use the XL8R, the basket will end up being a bit too far from the heater. It will work, but you will have to adapt wattage.

I then compared both stems when inserted, you can clearly see that the stock stem will have its basket really closer to the heater.

IMG_20210624_173650~2.jpg

In the end it is kind of better to use the stock stem, even if it's not as good as the XL8R when it comes to cooling.
Keep this in mind if you face performance issues.

The Dreamwood 22 in Santos Palisander has arrived and it is very nice.
Works like a champ at 49 watts out the box.
All that was required was a body but they sent the whole kit along with extra coils, screens and a bunch of o-rings.
👍🏿

Yes maybe but a low gauge combination. But you can't avoid changing it every now and then and/or changing the coil value on the mod. But I think kanthal and wattage mode suites this one the best.

Thanks @Daprezz.
I’ll try some different coils & TCR settings & let you know how I get on, the replies I have received have been very helpful in understanding TC for herb a little better, I appreciate all the help that’s been given, it’s great to see there so much help on the FC forum. 👍🏻
I don’t mind it in wattage mode, I know Dreamwood made the Glow for quick on demand easy wattage set up & they also recommend wattage over TC, I just would like to see if TC works for better control etc.

Is there a way of making the bowl bigger than the basket screen when using the WPA with the Glow 18?
I love the vape itself but the bowl is on the smaller side and practically impossible to stir without spilling half out of the bowl.
