Hello everyone
![Rock On  ](/i/s/rockon.gif)
I've greatly benefited from the wealth of information shared in this forum, so I'm here to contribute back and share my experiences.
After 23 years of tobacco and 22 years of cannabis, I decided to switch to dry herb vaping. I got my first vaporizer, a black Davinci IQ3, in early December from a local seed shop. Unfortunately, it was defective: the AirDial was stuck, the oven looked burnt, and the device would shut off if shaken. Davinci customer service was incredibly helpful. After I sent a video showcasing the issues, they quickly sent me a replacement in the Sapphire Blue color I originally wanted.
Shout out to Ed ! (I'm honestly puzzled by the negative comments I've seen about Davinci's customer service; my experience was excellent.)
Interestingly, just 10 days after getting the initial Davinci, I also ended up with both a new OG Mighty and a mint condition Mighty+, so I have multiple devices for comparison.
My Initial Impressions: The IQ3 delivers fantastic flavor and a potent high, with impressively robust vapor production. The AirDial is a great feature, allowing me to choose between a light sip or a full rip. Its a very sexy device, switching dosage pods is very enjoyable and a packed oven can keep me medicated till the end of the day. Cleaning is straightforward once you get the hang of it, and having an extra Flavor Chamber and Cool Path in rotation makes the process even faster.
I'm amazed at how long the IQ3's oven can keep going, even when I'm hitting it hard. As a "ripper," I was genuinely surprised by how far a single session can take me with this conduction device. The AirDial lets me switch to sips when my lungs need a break, and even then, the vapor remains robust. It is a premium device that becomes a personal tool.
When comparing the IQ3 to the Mighty+, you'll notice a difference in how they deliver vapor. With the Mighty+'s hybrid system, you get vapor pretty much instantly when you draw. The IQ3, being a conduction device, needs a second to cook the herb in between pulls. I've found that it's good to give it a small pause so the device can heat the herb properly before the next hit. It's a different style, but once you get used to it, the IQ3 still provides a great experience. (and flavor)
Suggested IQ3 Upgrades.
To elevate the performance and longevity of the IQ3, I recommend the following:
Using
9-10mm stainless steel round screens in the "Satan's Anus" area (the space around the oven outlet) will significantly reduce debris buildup, preventing residue from reaching the cooling path and helping keep the device running optimally. This simple addition addresses the residue issue caused by the integrated screen, which allows material to bypass the oven lip, where it is difficult to clean. Furthermore, relying solely on dosage capsules for cleanliness feels restrictive.
I've been using 2x
Vapcell S50 INR21700 batteries (5000mAh - 3.7 V - 15A) with my IQ3 in rotation for the past month, and the performance is fantastic. These batteries have the same specs as the originals but offer an extra 1000mAh, significantly extending my vaping sessions. It's incredibly convenient to have a spare battery for swapping during longer sessions.
Zirqonia spacers definitely helps with packing when you dont want to fill the whole oven. Always use them in contact with the zirqonia pearl. So for example my loading sequence would be:
[
9-10mm screen // herb // zirqonia spacer (if needed) // cap with zirqonia pearl ]
The brushed aluminum, while high-grade, can sometimes be slippery, impacting grip. A
Silicone Sleeve for the IQ3 is a must-have while it provides a secure grip and also acts as a heat buffer, which is particularly beneficial during back-to-back sessions when the device gets warm.
Advanced IQ3 Cleaning Tips:
Use
140-200mm long
Precision Tweezers to clean your IQ3. Twist a small piece of thin kitchen paper, (leaving a 10-15mm tip), lightly soak it in 70-99% isopropyl alcohol, and maneuver it into the device's crevices or use it to reach both holes end. The twisting motion provides superior cleaning compared to cotton swabs. (Be extra careful not to scratch your device)
Once you master that, its gonna be your favorite tool.
I recommend using a small
dab mat as a base for the IQ3 when you dont hold it, to prevent liquid or debris damage to the AirDial and keep the device functional. Alternatively, I find an
oriental pouch (like those used for prayer mala beads) works well for the same purpose (as well as storing it) when a mat isn't available, offering a protective and stable surface.
Regularly check and brush out debris from the AirDial area and the device's lips. This simple yet crucial practice prevents buildup and ensures optimal performance.
My next goal it to try using my IQ3 with Xmax V3 Dosage Capsules to see if they perform better than the OG Davinci Dosage Pods. Will update soon with some pictures as well !
