He basically said why he's reluctant back in his initial post(s): Karma says "not for illegal substances", and he ignored that.

Ape, ISO it real good, pack it up, call Karma (DaVinci) and send it back... by this time next week, you'll have a brandy-new one.

Come on - every company on the planet says that! Be for real. :horse:

I contacted DaVinci and they said they would replace it, but I had to register first( I had forgotten to do so) then they would email me or call me. I registered and still no email. I'll call back tomorrow. I'm glad I have back ups because my DaVinci will not even power on anymore. If I flip the switch, nothing happens. It took 4 days for it to give out hahaha.
By the way-
Heat up time from cold to 190 C no charger: 1:38.6

With the charger: :50.6

So there was a noticeable difference in heat up time.
I couldnt use Fahrenheit because of the defect but 190 C is 374 F.
If nothing else, I figure I might learn to tell the temp in Celsius

When I got an RMA for mine I did it over e-mail. I talked with Jessica and she was super cool. I highly recommend you contact them through e-mail. She contacted me right away, less than an hour after my e-mail to her. I had my new DV 3 days after talking with her, before they even got my old one.
Also, I am fairly sure the DV is done charging when all 4 bars show statically without blinking off (as OF suggest.) This is about ~3 hours of charging from a very very low charge. I believe, from what I know about these batteries, the initial charge is very important. So with the new unit make sure you put it on the charger for at least 3 hours before using it.

I agree with this. In theory this should have been done as part of testing the on board charge controller (remember there are 3 batteries in there to charge....), but IMO doing this is a good plan 'just in case'. It's one of those 'chicken soup moments', you know "can't hurt, might help"?

For better or worst you own the batteries once you start using it, IMO you don't want to start out with a weak or lame one....hopefully it'll be a long haul for you both.

Thank you, I've been wanting to email them since Friday. I just never think to use those reports anymore because when I used to I would never get a reply

EDIT: By the way, I emailed VaporNation about THEM sending me a defective unit last Friday and I still don't have a reply. I would not recommend them at all. That is horrible customer service! I emailed randy once at PuffItUp and seriously got an email back within 2 minutes.

Hello! I have been reading this thread for a few days now and wished to ask a question:

Lithium ion batteries get stressed and lose capacity when introduced to prolonged heat. Due to the fact that this portable has overheating issues, would it not render the battery useless after awhile?

Obviously many of you have owned the DV for awhile without this dilemma (I am assuming). I am just curious as to how Karma overcame this?

Just ordered a DV and Solo and cannot WAIT to try them out. Current owner of the Extreme Q but have never owned a portable before.

First off, howdy, welcome to the fun. If you're considering buying this guy, I think it has a lot to offer. There are also some other excellent portable vapes around, you might want to spend a bit of time exploring them?

Anyway, while high temperature can be an issue, however I'm not aware of any overheating issues that might impact this. Perhaps you could enlighten me?

It gets hot for sure, but 'too hot to hold comfortably' and 'killing my battery' is a lot of degrees. A lot. High temperature versions of this kind of battery do fine at temperatures you can't hold on a bet. More over they are stacked up in the coolest corner. The electronics, in a hotter area, will take a dive before the battery is threatened. The LCD display before that. We're not really there even.

I expect mine will go several years (many hundred cycles) before I start noticing battery life going down. From then on it's a matter of how much I'll put up with. Much like a several year old laptop (which uses a similar batter as a rule).

Welcome to the forum - I have to agree with OF, if you take care of your toys, keep em' clean and charged as needed you should not have any issues. You mention you just ordered a solo and a DV - bravo on both as you just bought two solid pieces of equipment. I for one have both and although I use my solo more both serve a very different purpose. The DV is my on the go vape for sure - easily concealed, doesn't look like a medicating device, and quite candidly - it has a built in storage compartment - it doesn't get easier than that! Again, welcome to FC - keep us posted when you receive either - were all eager to hear your opinion. :peace:

I actually ordered both the DV and Solo yesterday. Unfortunately, I work high up in the Canadian Arctic and they will take two weeks to arrive. *sigh*

Looking to use the Solo at home/work trips/friend's house/etc. and will use my DV for outdoors (Mexico vacation, not the Arctic!).

Again, I appreciate you taking the time.

Unfortunately, I have yet to recieve a reply. My fingers are crossed that I get it today. I atleast want to have my new unit by Friday, but it doesn't seem like they are trying to replace it at all. I'll have to say, not too impressed with the customer service. I've e mailed and called VaporNation; no reply. I have called Davinci twice, left a report, then found an email address and emailed them and have still not got a reply. They are the ones that put out a defective unit, idk why I'm having to go through all of this trouble.

I'm not trying to bad mouth them. I just don't think it says a lot for thier customer service. I don't want it to seem like I'm bad mouthing them, I love the Davinci. I just think they could have handled this particular situation better. I'm not even mad I revieved a defective unit, I'm just mad that its Tuesday and still the ONLY thing I have heard from them was to register my unit.

Ape I didn't mean to say you were bad mouthing them. What I meant was you can if you don't get satisfaction soon. That was my reaction to Tweeks comment.

Just to let people know 405 degrees Farhenheit is the new limit, not 430. They said they should have made the change an official statement and the change was to improve efficiency. The women I talked to today was extremely helpful. I'm glad I'm getting a replacement and I apologize for about a full page of bitching that you(whoever reading) had to endure

Regarding the request to register the unit...that is odd and I assume is because we have an afterhours customer service line to answer questions and take messages.

For future reference the easiest way to get anything on your DaVinci replaced is just to call us: (702) 966.9969 or 1.800.336.7224 and we'll get it handled immediately.

Everything has been handled and I couldn't be more content. Jessica could have not been more helpful and I would like to thank the DaVinci company for all the help. I was just mad that I wasn't getting a reply, but all that got handled. She is even including a snorkel for all of the trouble! I'm also just happy I got a reply in the first place, considering VaporNation sold me a defective unit, which I emailed them about the day I got it, and they still haven't replied. Thanks for caring about your customers happiness and satisfaction.

Hey guys, we love the feedback that we get from this forum and always take everyone's suggestions into play when creating a new product. With that in mind...how important is it to have a removable battery in a portable vape?

My theory is that it would be really nice to have an extra one handy incase one breaks.

I think a removable battery would be a great addition to the DaVinci. Almost as great an addition as would be a removable lid.

Listen to the man, he's not just another pretty face....from a lot of angles.

While extra charge batteries would be great, IMO even more important is the replacement of the old one years down the road when it finally fades off. I hope to enjoy this guy for a long time, not trade it in on next year's model like an Iphone.

That poor little battery gets 'ridden hard and put up wet' to do it's job, it'd be nice to know the process and cost of replacement before the issue gets forced on you.
