375 the dropped to 365 for third pic or I will cough a lot and I don't like that.

Enlighten me on what I am doing wrong.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. I would expect most of the load to be browned pretty good from sitting in an oven for 5 minutes. That's about what I expected.

:peace:

edit: My ABV is usually darker-looking, but many factors play into that.

Well that proves what I have been saying all along then, this is not a one hitter for me. The material is done when the session is done. I love my DV for the house and do take it out but need something that is really a three hitter. Hence my T1, Inhalator, Puffit quandary. DV is not discreet as far as smell either if it is dirty which if you are out you can't really or at least I can't be bothered cleaning it. I have enough issues be bothered at home lmao.

In my opinion, it sounds like a T1 would fit your needs well. I wouldn't recommend the DV for quick hitting situations. There are better wrenches out there for that task IMO.

Which is what brought me to keep looking for one for out of the house. I will continue to use my DV at home as I do love it. I have to call Tim about how to hook up a T1 to many options to choose from.

Dreamerr, i think you need to be carefull on how you say things. The DV works great out of the house, and i use it anywhere. BUT, it is not a vaporizer that works well with one-two hits and then turning it off.

If you want that kind of portable, you have more suitable options elsewhere. For me it doesn't make sense to do 1-2 hits and put it down.. but it once did and i used my MFLB extensively for that purpose, and you can hide it completely in your hand unlike the T1 or the Puffit.

The DV works better when you do a whole session until it shuts off, to savor it and enjoy the moment. It is stealth enough that i can leave it at plain sight and it looks like a hand radio, and i just pretend i am playing the antena with my mouth.

It is all about what you are looking for. :2c:

I've found this model to be very stealthy. The general public, including a lot of LEO's, are clueless about vaporizers, and no one I've shown the DV to could believe it was a mj delivery device. The build quality throws 'em every time, along with the 2 way radio appearance.

Okay so anyone know how I go about returning/exchanging this thing if I ordered internationally? I'm assuming it can't be shipped back across customs given it's used now as well...

I loved it at first assuming the taste would go away, but after a couple weeks and a lot of use, the thing still smells NOTHING like weed when it's running, maybe a faint hint but mostly a nauseating smell. If I take a deep enough inhale through my nose when I smell the straw hole I literally gag, and the taste is awful as well not to mention how harsh the vapor is.

I've had over 10 friends try this thing, none of em liked it SOLELY because of the taste and smell...

I also don't like the high compared to what even my MFLB gave me, it's too heavy and my thoughts get cloudy as fuck. I feel as though I'm inhaling a little something extra, because smoking the same strain leaves me more clear headed which is unusual. Trying a big dose in the MFLB tonight to compare.

Really hoping I can get my money back or at least exchange it for a new one to try to return at a LHS here.

Don't feel like you're alone Sektr, I agree with you 100% b/c I experienced the same thing and after a dozen or so friends hit it once and said it was nasty as hell I too agreed it wasn't just me no matter what some of the people on these forums say.

Looking for a good alternative? Check out the Pax. I have both the DV and Pax and it's pax hands down so hardcore its not even funny. Worst part is they were both the same price when I purchased them. Pax does not taste like plastic at all from the very first draw.

I like the pax over the DV so much so that I'm purchasing a second pax...

Don't let anyone tell you that plastic taste should be acceptable or is a compromise b/c it is not acceptable. There are vapes that hit much much cleaner than a DV, check out the arizer solo too.

I've had four DV's replaced under warranty all with the same nasty taste and every single one (except the first which was doa) off gassed at 390F+ for over 3-4 days of constant burn in.

If you don't like the unit, get warranty to replace it (just wash the hell out of it with ISO spray it down with compressed air) and then sell the new unit in your local classifieds, that's what I did.

Thanks once again for your opinion. Personal advice is just that.

Since such things are subjective, I think each guy gets to decide what's acceptable to him and what is not. Clearly for many this is acceptable.....pretty hard to get around that one. Their opinions count, too.

I'm glad you're happy with whatever vape you choose.

So apologies for the other post, I just had a particularly bad session with it that day and got pretty upset, had a lack of sleep going for me which didn't help.

Anyways, the weird highs were attributed to vaping with that specific strain I'm relieved to say, the MFLB had the same effects as the DV in that regards.

As far as the smell goes, I'm not sure how I feel anymore. I did a HUGE sesh with 4 buddies last night strictly with the DV, and the only negative comment was "It still tastes like cheese." from one guy who was also loaded. Nobody else complained, and I myself found the taste and smell had gotten better, it seemed, out of nowhere!

So I've got my hopes up again somewhat for this thing, I'll give it a bit longer to show me what it's got.

Apologies again for the overreaction up there, I would edit/delete it but apparently there's a time limit to do that here :s

Hey, great post! Thanks very much for passing the good news on (well maybe not so good if you bought a bunch of the herb causing the problems.....), that makes your experiences 'fit' in with the others much better now. FWIW, I'm not so sure 'tastes like cheese' is really all that negative, I kinda like (some) cheeses. Somewhere in my collection of loaded Omicron carts I've got some "Cheese Quake" I wish I'd bought more of.

Glad to hear you're giving the little rascal another shot, I hope after all this it becomes a good friend. No need for apologies as I see it, your opinion is just as valid as the next fellows.

Thanks again.

It depends on where the plasitic taste is coming from and if it's from the mouthpiece/exterior, it depends on whether it bothers you or not. You can't get the best of all worlds from any one vape, and that's a fact. The Solo, for one, is a portable, but not a pocket portable. It's a flat out compromise between a home vape and a pocket vape, and there have even been taste complaints about that model.

good news to report actually, just received my replacement unit from karma, this model is not having any of the bad smell, and compared to the plooms of vapor coming out of my old model. After turning it to max temp could only observe a tiny thin wisp for a few seconds then it was gone. Been sitting at max temp for a few mins now no bad smells. No fumes. Thanks for the free replacement even after having the old unit for after the warranty expired. Never less I alread found my perfect combo of vapes.

After reading this I'm kind of inclined to request a replacement unit, because I just cleaned mine and after 5 burn off runs a visible vapor is still coming off at only 385...

For those of you who have gotten replacement units, how did you go about contacting the company? Did you PM the rep on this site or go directly to their customer service department? Did any of you send in a used unit?

Most importantly, when I'm contacting them do I mention the fact that it's been used with illegal substances, or just pray I won't be asked to return it? Because I feel like straight up telling them gives them more reason to tell me no :S but now that I know there are new units that have essentially no problem with smell or vapor I would like to try and get a new one.

I'm really liking this thing but the fact that the mystery vapor isn't a standard "feature" makes me nervous so if I can get one without it I'd be very pleased, the taste/smell I can deal with now but I'd like to be safe rather than sorry when it comes to what I'm inhaling.

send a pm to the rep, or just send an email to support. I went through my retailer who spoke to karma and replaced it no questions asked. I told the rep I was throughly isoing everything and then provided me with a prepaid label. Iso the screens and qtip the bowl. Depending on your balls(not being sexist), I went ahead and told the retailer I used it for bud and he said him and his boss did too, and to go ahead and clean and send it. So I don't know what will exactly work for you. But if you must returning all I guess I'm saying is iso is your friend.

Yeah definitely my only concern is that I'm in Canada so it'd cross through customs, those dogs can sniff even the faintest smell!

Oh, and when you guys store your units, do you leave the straw screwed in or take it out and store separately? I've been leaving it screwed in cause the base gets resin all over it and I'd rather it not get all gross from random fibers sticking to it.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

I'll give the folks at DV credit that they are trying hard to please. My first vape was of the 0A1005xxx version, and it produced the "mystery vapor", quite heavily, new out of the box at temps above 390 F. I cycled the battery until completely drained, twice, and then did several more burn-ins off the charger with the visible vapor still appearing. So, I boxed it up and returned it with the requested info and received a replacement unit (apparently somewhat older, as the serial number starts with 0A1003xxx).

The replacement performs visibly better, but still shows comparatively light vapors above 400 F. I don't see any traces of vapor at the default temp of 375 F, and am inclined not to go above that setting anyway, but a third unit is to be delivered tomorrow, and I will thoroughly check it out before returning one of the units.

About all that I can add to this discussion, that hasn't already been addressed, is that the vapors don't appear to be coming from the heating element directly. Rather, and I question DV's wisdom in this choice, it appears to be out-gassing from the rubberized coating applied to the deck around the lower chamber. This becomes visually evident when the unit is run at maximum setting, 430 F. The vapors are drawn toward the hot air rising from the empty lower chamber. Also, once drained (4-5 ten minute sessions) the battery takes almost 12 hours to fully recharge, which seems strange. It's as if the charger itself does not provide sufficient current to the batteries.

I can only pray that the fix (for vapors) is that simple, as I absolutely love everything else about this portable (OK, a removable pin-hinge would be nice, to allow easier access for cleaning).

Not going to adress the vapors since what you have said has been adressed before and DaVinci is replacing the units who report this problem.

About the battery.. if you drain it, it will in fact take longer to recharge and it might even hurt the battery a little bit. This is a feature of these types of batteries, not a problem with the charger or the unit. I must ask you though, did you turn it on after it started to auto shut off when the battery was running low? If you did, i suggest you don't do that because of what i said above.

Enjoy! ;)

Does anyone know if the mouthpiece of the straw is supposed to be glued on? I had mine pop right off from a pretty gentle tug and it appears as though it was glued, but I can't be sure.

I managed to get it back on, but I was just asking out of my own personal curiosity so I know if that happening was normal or if I accidentally (not fatally) broke it.

Well that's frustrating...

Bummer. I suspected it was molded in place, but that's a guess, I don't see any glue 'flash' on mine which I's suspect. Seems to me getting all the loose ends of the mesh jacket to cooperated would be hard (some thing you're finding)?

My guess is it's not a very good handle, something Iolite owners lean by dumping their load a time or two?

Perhaps they will replace it under warranty as I don't see any such exclusions? I think it might also be 'just right' for the polycarbonate mouthpiece Vapor Genie sells for the classic and hand carved units? IMO a very nice accessory, I run one on my Iolite:
http://www.vaporgenie.com/Accessories.html

I use the 'old style' as it matches the tube best (after a bit of filing to remove the 'ribs' which I suspect you'd not want to do), but at half a buck each I'd order several. When I tire of using it as designed, I intend to try this addition as well.

There's something I want to try, but I don't want a dysfunctional unit

I just dropped it on the bottom corner. I have a two story house so it was no problem finding a 15 foot drop onto the concrete, but after two misses, I put a paper tail on it to fall the way I wanted......

OK, I actually pried the 5 rubber plugs out of the back side and took the Phillips screws under them out. Turns out you don't need to take the one on the hinged top piece out. If you look closely at the photo you can see the screw bosses in the lower corner and under the oven on the left? The fourth is in the shadows upper right.

Open it carefully and watch lead dress putting it back together, it's cramped in there. The hinge is tricky, and a good way to screw it up. Not really much to see, IMO, and it will blow the warranty. Your call.

Good luck.
