Cleaning is very important, so you have to make sure to take your time and get everything. Q-tip with 99% ISO is what I've been using and it's like new after each clean. Though, like many, I am very proactive when it comes to cleaning my DV. These are small vaporizers, so obviously if you're not regularly cleaning them, you may run into some problems. How are you guys cleaning this? I am having a hard time getting a draw. Not sure what to think of this unit yet. Battery seems to die very quickly. No clouds of vapor, no matter what I do. Although I am enjoying the buzz enough. Maybe just some practice but I dunno.......
First thing to know, there are 3 mesh screens to this unit. The first is located on the very bottom of the chamber, it can be hard to get out. I use a little metal hook, like a dentist tool. This one, to me at least, seems less important than the others. Though, I still clean it when I have the spare time. The second is pretty easy to see. It's on the bottom part of the latch. The piece on the very bottom screws out and the screen sits in it. The third is located right above this one. It's best to take off the flex straw and force it down from the opposite side with a toothpick or something. Soak all of these, including the screw off piece, in iso while you clean the rest of the unit with a Q-tip.
I typically like to heat mine up to ~150F after I get all the screens out, seems to make it easier to clean off the gunk. Once the 10 minutes are up and it kicks off, go to town on the chamber with a bent Q-tip lightly dipped in the ISO (you don't want it to be soaking!) Run another Q-tip dipped in ISO up the hole where the 2 screens are located. In my experience, this is the trickiest part, and I haven't found a really good method for cleaning that hole other than CLEAN OFTEN to prevent build up. I generally clean mine after ~6 sessions, but never go over 10 without a good clean. Two ways I clean my straw are: rip off most of the cotton on both sides of a Q-tip, dip in ISO and run it threw the straw, or soak in ISO and rinse after.
If you want clouds, you can get them. Just don't expect it to stand up against a volcano. Crank it up to ~375-385. Once the unit is ready, exhale most of the air in your lungs for a good long draw. Draw for ~15 seconds and exhale immediately (THC absorbs into the lungs instantly, there is no need to hold in hits!) If you're not exhaling an excessive amount of vapor O.o I'd have to ask what the hell are you vaping, lol!
Unlike most vaporizers its size, the DV is a convection based vaporizer, where as most are conduction. In simplest terms this means no waiting between hits. You can take a hit, exhale, and immediately take another hit and see vapor every time. While convection does have many advantages I enjoy, battery life does suffer. However, I was still very surprised that I can get 6-9 sessions (temp range will effect how many uses it can get on a charge!) out of mine on a full charge. Obviously that is going to decrease more and more as the battery starts to go out but, not bad at all. Oh, I'd also recommend if you want to keep the battery alive as long as possible to try not to let the unit get under 50% charge (~3 uses) before recharging.
Hope this help!
Edit: Oh right, use the DV brush on the mesh screens after they've been soaking in the ISO awhile. Should look good as new when you're finished!
