Discontinued Daisy vaporizer by Triihouse

Floating on.
I did a search of the forums, as well as google, for the health effects of using butane-heated vapes and got some pretty mixed results.

For the most part, I'm reading that the quality of the butane and the torch impacts the health effects... And choosing a "clean" burning butane is the best way to go. To quote Triihouse: "All that is left after igniting a butane torch is carbon dioxide and water." ... Is that entirely true? Does it depend on the kind of butane you're using? Could the butane itself make you feel "stoned"?

As a current Firefly / Pax user, I'm used to the internal heating elements that add no other byproducts in order to heat the herb.. So the concept of butane heating is concerning to me.. But I don't wan't that factor to hold me back from getting a Daisy if I'm simply being paranoid or misinformed.

The health effects of inhaling through butane-heated devices may well be a concern for many people. We've seen this topic debated (sometimes hotly) over the years, and there are still people in both "camps" it seems.

If you would like to discuss the safety of butane, feel free to start a thread in the general discussion area. This topic should not be debated in a vape specific thread.

If you have concerns about inhaling butane, my advice would be to look for a different device as the Daisy will probably not be your cup of tea.

FWIW I'm in the "camp" that has no issues using a device like this. As a very wise person once said: If you've ever mowed a lawn with a gas-powered lawn mower, you have likely inhaled more nasty crap than you ever will in a lifetime of vaporizing.

Thank you all for the support and kinds words.

This video should help answer a lot of questions I received from everyone.

Yes it would be possible for me to make Daisies with other woods. I actually have considered doing that. We were also thinking about making Daisies with extra thick dimensions for wood carvers to be able to do their thing. The only thing I can think about as far as using other woods is that I would have to start off with certain dimensions of lumber. My tools require certain dimensions that it must start off with to be used.

I think my rich and classy uncle would have a Daisy as well. Daisy is something that can and will be inherited someday.

RUDE BOY:
Fortunately you can not use a regular candle flame based lighter. We tested that idea in the early stages of testing and design, especially because those lighters are so cheap and everywhere. It will never get hot enough. They taste really nasty too, they do not burn clean like torches do.

The torches that come with your Daisy package have been tested rigorously as well. I have used one everyday multiple times a day for at least 6 months. If they should go out on you, we will be selling them soon for a great deal. A kitchen torch WILL work, but can be dangerous.

At the moment, we are only using one type of wood. Eventually we will use different kinds of wood.

Thank you for convincing your friend to buy Waldo. Sad to hear they are no longer together, especially if they were so close. I must admit I am a little disturbed knowing Waldo can be in an evidence room out there some where.

I share your concerns as well about the butane and the fumes. It would be redundant to vaporize with a device that is harmful to your health. The evidence is out there about how torches work and how they compare to conventional lighters.

Gas stoves and central heating units that use gas also deploy the same method of a heat source.

I have been using torch powered vaporizers ( from Triihouse) for over 5 years now, and so has my wife. She and I run half marathons and I am in the gym a few days a week.

I guess my point is that if you are interested and want to give Daisy a try, it is risk free.

Thank you so very much for your review:clap::rockon::tup:. I hope many can share your experience.
One thing I would like to comment on about your review. The "WHISTLE SOUND" you mention.
That whistle is indicating that the airflow has a lot of turbulence. From our research and experience, the turbulence is great for CONVECTION vaporizing. Turbulence agitates and scrubs the compounds to be vaporized. This equals more cloudy heavy hits. If you have to inhale too slow and low, just turn your torch up a little bit and draw a little harder.

After testing and observing people, we learned people like to emulate the using of a "BONG". Long full deep draws. We want to convert water pipe smokers to Daisy vaporizer users.

Awesome! Thank you for all the answers. Could you post dimensions for the wood possibly? I can't be the only one thinking of a snappo exotic wood daisy:rockon:

You hearing this @Snappo?? :brow:

I love this idea. Snappo finds beautiful wood of the right dimension, TriiKle makes an extra thick vaporizer, and a wood carver adds the finishing touches with some added creativity. I'd been wanting a log in large part due to the aesthetic aspect of it, but now I'm thinking I might end up owning a daisy first…

Ahhhh....okay, more testing in order today. I may not be providing enough heat because I have found that if I draw hard, I run out of lung capacity before the vapor starts flowing. I have noticed that I can cover all the holes (carb, turbulator, intake stem) and still get a lot of air flow. Is that what I should expect?

I want an herb cam!

Yeah i'm postponing my order until I can get an herb cam built into my Daisy.

Two questions!
  1. Anyone using this with a water path yet? Curious about using it with a hydratube or a normal inverted water piece. And...
  2. For those who own a Daisy already, thoughts for travel/storage for transportation?
Really excited. Can't wait to get my order in.

:tup:Just got it and it's a beautiful piece but only A few hits in, nice vapor production but I still have to get used to the wide open zero resistance draw, won't say more yet.

I have a question about the torch. How do you raise and lower the flame ?

if its by turning that little black plastic ribbed ring under the ignition trigger mine's cracked and just falls off the torch.

I believe i need a hair longer flame.

You adjust the flame on the bottom of the torch, same place you fill it. Left turn up/right turn down. The supplied tweezers work perfectly to adjust.

I'm usin' this just blown away by how simple it seems and how fucking great it's already doing me. The Draw will take time for me to get used to. Hits come a lot quicker once i start hitting then expected and all I think i get is air and big taste, then i'm exhaling pretty big vapor and sometimes giant ass clouds.

Smooth big vapor and I found Waldo or Waldo jr , he's just kinda half of Daisy these days. Hooked up a mflb silicone whip to the connection between the bowl and the mouthpiece section and there he was.
Not as smooth of vapor that way and only tried a couple hits that way. only a few hours into having it having done three small loads and i'm definitely goodly baked.

Is there a way to determine or choose what heat / vaporization temperature range you're achieving with Daisy? Does it depend on how far you hold the torch from the heat intake tube?

You can definitely feel the heat on the back of your throat as you bring the flame closer to the draw tube. The closer (and larger) the flame, the higher the heat, but draw speed affects that also. Still playing with it, so that's about as specific as I can get at this point.

You nailed it! I turned my torch up and drew fast rather than slow to get he whistle sound, and got some great hits. With the airy draw, I really have to empty my lungs before starting the inhale, but your advice was great. More practice needed. Unfortunately, I am now officially out of practice material. I fucking hate living in a hypocritical state!

Daisy now in a holding pattern. :(

Turned the torch up a little more(not much) here with the same results of quicker easier vapor.

If i take off the mouthpiece it's much more tactile for me but i bust a lung coughing up huge clouds every time !

Then with the mouthpiece On for some reason my brain is tellin' me i need to pull like i would on a whip but if i just Inhale kinda like i do when i yawn I'm getting huge hits that don't make me cough at all. Just how much the mouthpiece changes the experience is amazing and when you look at it you don't expect that or at least i didn't.

Not having had it even a day now, I gotta say it's a lot of fun and simple to use. I pretty much see it performing as well as any vape I've used and a lot better then many.

I hesitated buying a few vapes because i really have this dislike of/anxiety issues when using torches, Today I am Very Pleased that the Daisy moved me to say screw it I gotta try it.

I ain't gonna reread and edit 'cause I'm Daisy Baked.

Edit; opps

Considering how much I like my other torch vape (the Lotus) I am very interested in this piece...

How easy/difficult is it to combust with the Daisy?

I Haven't had any combustion yet did manage to char a little of one load due to not following instructions and having a 3 inch flame on my torch with a couple inches of it feeding down the intake stem.

If you don't do that or over fill the bowl you can't burn the herb that i can see, really easy to use.

Sounds like you and me are almost in the same boat. I'm riding it out on reclaim right now and hoping something shows up this week. I was just getting a good feel for the Daisy and then....holding pattern. Ugh!
