How are you enjoying that method? Do you find it easier to get your dose size with that consistency?
It works great for me. Again with what I have is so waxy . You loss some flavor from doing this.
After done it is very workable. I would say it`s much easier.
I have done other strains and it would be more sappy. Would not have to put heat to that.

Hey Dab pressers hope all is well with you lot. I have had a shit start to the year my 6ton was stolen out of my van with an OZ of flower and a peak. The Peak I can live without lol! Anyway was wondering if I could get a discount on some PID’s as if mine had broken out of warranty? My Organic grow has also been shut down as well ! So going to be short ! Bummer all round. Hoping for a good summer grow outside as may have a place to start early or another indoor location. Need some plans to come together. Anyway enough of my moaning and in with the pressing. Laters

Damn @Bunny that's some shit! Your 6-ton was stolen, did you have another unit? I know you were pressing with the hr10t35v, so was that what was stolen?

I am sure Roger can accommodate you with a discount on a PID being that you're a customer. I'll PM you.

EDIT: I see you did have the 6-ton, I am mixing up my customers, appologies!

@psychonaut do you think a 5 weight will work for the strongway?

I have some AW22 5 weight hanging around.
https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/FNJ86105

Are you going to be pressing in really cold temps? If not might want to use a standard jack oil which is AW32. I've cross referenced a number of manuals for bottle jacks and hand pumps, they all seem to reference "hydraulic jack oil" AW32, ISO-VG 32, SAE10

Now im waiting for the bj3-t33 i hardly decided for. We will see if this thing can beat my 9,99 hair straightener. :goon:

Thought about making a little Faq for upcoming rosineer & dabbers, since for most ppl like me its quiet new thing, but i will not have the time. I accidently come into trates by stop cleaning my vaporizer and wanted to vape that reclaim oil stuff that smelled tasty. Funny, becoming familiar with torching bangers, getting my 710coils yesterday and i never tested that reclaim because rosin stepped by. I dont want to dab that anymore btw.

Long story, will have some questions in the future for sure, but for now its patient waiting and making some free room. I can tell what customs will be for ppl in Europe when it arrived, i know theres much Pain incoming. Fortunate right after that i can fight that pain HARDLY. :science:

Thanks man. The 5 weight was what the 20-ton called for.

Will grab some of the type you referred instead.

Just received my pump and unit today. Gave it two quick goes at work. Nice unit, but I need to get used to it and set up a nice space for it.

One thing I did notice that caught me off guard (my fault) is that there is only one heater per plate, and the temp probe is off center because the heater is centered. Do you think this have an effect on accurate temp measurement and consistent temps across the plate including during press?

I'm used to plates that have the temp probe in the middle and a cartridge heater on each side of the probe, for 4 total heaters.

I have a k-type tester around here somewhere, just figured I'd ask for others thoughts. Also, will the wood being an insulator for the plates really work well and last long without cracking? The frame gets kind of warm quickly.

I'll get a better sense as I use it more, but in two quick 1 press sessions, it was warmer than I imagined it would be. So long as the frame doesn't get hot to the point of not being able to touch, I guess its a non-issue..

Nice! Glad you got the unit! I'll give you my thoughts but hopefully someone else can give their own thoughts as well.

Eventually the unit will saturate with heat but the wood will offset it quite a bit. Generally the plates will heat up in 5 minutes, and by the time the press is ready for use the unit will actually still be relatively cold. The top plate will radiate some heat on the top of the press, but I've never been unable to handle the press in any way. The plates themself when I have them set at 200F are 200F or maybe +/- 1%, are extremely hot so be careful!

The plates heat up so quickly from the 250W heating rods in each platen, the thermocouple next to it will have a slight delay in registering the temperature of the metal closest to the heater but IME it's negligable.

The wood itself is bamboo which is a hard wood, harder than oak. It is able to withstand the pressure that our presses deliver. You have to consider that the wood itself is only taking up to 1333 PSI when maxed out. Not enough to come close to damaging the bamboo.

We found the bamboo was a much better insulator than the FR4 glass insulation layer we used, even when used in conjunction, a thicker bamboo insulation plate works better.

Looking forward to your thoughts in the future as you get on with the unit!

Hey folks, Roger has finished the gauge+adapter for 1/4" NPT. It's not yet available but we're working to make it available soon. It will be for 1/4" NPT pumps without gauges, to place inline between the hose and pump. It will be affordable, it's our promise.

Some pictures for your reference. The gauge+adapter will include

T-port manifold , 1/4" NPT (female, female, female)
Adapter, 1/4" NPT adapter (male, male)
10000 PSI gauge 1/4" NPT (male)

Team NO SLEEP!
When people describe "time" pressing, when do you all typically start the clock?

Do you turn on the timer the moment you load your puck, or do you wait till the plates are significantly closed before starting the countdown to release?

I've been playing around with temps and worked my way up to 195. Much shorter press time than my 165 presses and not nearly as delightful a flavor, but it sure did flow faster. The higher temp produced a real snappy shatter consistency, but I prefer the light gold of lower temps.

I generally start the timer when the gauge begins to move, which is right about when the oil starts to flow. I'm running 200F for between 2-3 minutes, I pretty much watch for the flow to slow or stop at the 2 min mark and release the pressure when I think it's done.

I haven't pressed anything that low ever, maybe I should give it a shot. I go down as low as 180F for flower but most of my material autobudders while it's pressing at that temp and creates a crystalline dam blocking the flow.

Nice day FC!

The ETA on the 1/4" NPT gauge+adapter combo is next week. We will offer it as a standalone accessory for pairing to our hydraulic cylinder rosin presses.

The gauge+adapter cost will be around $40 + shipping (save money to purchase this along with your press so you dont pay separate Express shipping from China factory). This price should allow rosineers to procure a $50-60 10-ton hydraulic hand pump with hose (no gauge) and build your own inline gauge for around the same price as the strongway hand pump with hose and gauge.

It will require some work on your part to assemble the parts, and extra care should be taken when building your own pump to seal all threads with teflon tape and tighten the threading down accordingly. Some tools, muscle and/or a partner to help you.

For folks using the strongway, are you guys using Teflon tape for the threads or a sealing paste (used this for Bailey and worked fine)

Absolutely use either tape or silicone plumber paste on the hydro threads. This is not unique to rosin press but is standard practice for any pressurized hydro fitting, IMO.

I note that @psychonaut says no to tape on quick disconnects. I'm not sure what kind of quick disconnects they are...but if it has threads, I tape or dope it.

For the couplers you don't need to use tape or dope on the coupling ends, they seal via o-rings installed inside of the quick coupler. The type that we are using is a poppet valve. Using thread tape will just slow down the discovery of the failure inside the coupler, better to replace it right away if that's the case.

The reason we see dust caps for the quick couplers is to protect the o-rings from dust and debris as that's what causes the oring failures. It's recommend to wipe them clean before pairing.

Ah....different....my connections do indeed have a check valve in them but they are screw on.

I gather the type you use are the ones where you just pull the outer shroud back to snap it on...like the ones I'm used to seeing on pneumatic quick disconnects.

These are also screw on, the only major difference between our couplers and what you have, is the size (1/4" vs 3/8").

Here's the instructions that Dake has in their b-10 shop press which uses the same couplers as the strongway pump and dabpress cylinder. I'm pretty sure your's connects the same.

Remove the plastic protective cap from the end of the hydraulic hose. Screw the hydraulic hose onto the cylinder hose fitting. The fitting has a knurled collar that you can tighten by hand. (Do not use a wrench because damage may occur to the fitting) The hose has a check valve that prevents oil from escaping so if hose is ever removed air will not get in the system.

Wow....being a senior is starting to get to be a real PIA.

My press has all BVA hydros and I'm sure I read the manuals and now that I think about it more, I'm not at all sure I used the plumber's dope on it....I remember bringing it to the garage, but suspect I read the manual and didn't use it.

Fuck, each day is a new beginning.....I can't remember a thing...but it does keep things fresh and new...cause I can't fucking remember the last time! haha

Morning FC friends and Dabpress family!

We're happy to announce that the 1/4" NPT gauge + adapter is now available on our official webstore.

https://www.dabpress.com/products/d...pressure-gauge-0-10000-psi-a-pressure-adapter

Sale price is $29.99 + shipping (recommended to purchase on the same order as your hr10t35v unit if you want to avoid express shipping fees from China ($$$))

This gauge + adapter is designed to be used with 10-ton hydraulic pumps rated to 10000 PSI such as Porta Power, Strongway, Torin Big Red (UK/EU) as well as various other generic Porta Power compatible models. Please verify that your hydraulic hose and pump fittings are 1/4" NPT threading otherwise you will need to purchase additional reducers or bushings to fit the parts.

  • Teflon Tape must be applied to the threads during installation to prevent leaking.
Features:
  • Brass wetted parts for measuring non-corrosive liquid and gas pressure
  • Circular dial is filled with glycerin and enclosed in a stainless steel 304 case for corrosion resistance
  • 2 Pack Stainless Steel 1/4" NPT Male adapters are included for a universal pairing.
Packing List:
  • 1Pcs x 10000 PSI 1/4" NPT Pressure Gauge
  • 2Pcs x 1/4" NPT Male/Male Adapters
  • 1Pcs x 1/4" NPT Female/Female/Female Gauge Manifold

-----------------

Attachment of the gauge inline between the hose and pump is a fairly simple task as I've outined in my video several pages back. The modification can be made by one person usually.

When purchasing a pump and hose without gauge, you will spend in the 50-70$ range, and adding this gauge adapter to your pump, the cost of the pump with gauge will be comparable to the Strongway 10-ton AIO pump with hose and gauge.

Thank you for your patience while we fill this void in the market ourselfs.

As to news with Dabpress, currently Roger is spending less time on socials and more time building. The Chinese Spring Festival begins on 2/5. In the meantime we are working hard to build more units and expand our offerings with useful accessories to improve the quality of your extractions and also workflow.

Our 2.5x4.5" 160u rosin filters are now available on the official webstore. This sized rosin filter bag pairs to our pm40r (40mm cylinder pre-press mold). You can also stuff the filters by hand and use as a rectangle puck if you prefer.

https://www.dabpress.com/products/2...er-package-paired-with-dp-pm40r-prepress-mold

Our Rectangle/Cylinder universal pre-press mold is also now available on the official webstore. This will create two different shaped pucks to pair with our rosin filter bags to press bottle tech style (vertical filter build) or square/rectangle puck laying flat across the plates. This pre-press mold is compatible with 2.5" (cylinder side) and 3" (square side) wide filters based on your preference.

An update on my situation since having my
Van broken into at the worst possible time, with my dabpress and herb inside!

Roger @dabpress has helped me out as a returning customer and given me a discount on a new press so a 10 ton Driptech is on its way via DHL express! Horray for Dabpress how many companies have such good customer service? If your on the fence this is the place to dive into Rosin Tech.

Really excited to get the package and dabpress Goodies.

As I’m in the U.K which 10 ton pump do you recommend? I didnt order the adaptor so will need to work out of the box.

Every cloud has a silver lining now I have an upgrade! And now I’m laughing at the image of the thieves trying to work out what the fuck the press does and trying to vape flower in a puffco Peak! Mugs! Lol will keep you updated when I open the kit and when I get pressing. Laters
