Dabpress Rosin Plates

I still have only a few nights under my belt operating this equipment, but IMO it has already totally justified the cost! Hell, the unit has paid for itself just by way of quality output.

I am in complete control, and made finer rosin than I have ever bought.

That is very good to hear You're giving me some inspiration to make even better rosin than I did last week Tomorrow is pressing day 'round here.

Questions regarding Boveda:
With the increased importance of maintaining proper humidity in pressing, I have acquired various size bovedas.

Do I need to maintain separation between the pack and my material? Will it soggy material if directly next to it?

Are packs affected if they must be folded to fit into a certain container?

Specifically I would like to use bovedas with my Satchmo's but it is a tight squeeze!

You can have the bovedas touch buds no problem. In regards to folding, I might fold a corner like in the cap of a small cvault but try not to fold in half, I'm worried the paper might rip!

IDK what sizes you've tried but their smallest is a 4 gram packet which is perfect for smaller jars. It might not fit in a chico but I would think it would fit a satchmo.

I have not bent one completely in half as I think it would rupture, but I have significantly curved or right angled them to fit in small mason jelly jars and the original sized Jaryz.

There seems to be debates over which is better for cannabis, the 58% or 62% packets. Some think 62% can promote fungal growth, but I have used the 62's for years and never had a problem. I've also used them to help fresh buds through the final curing stages. At the bottom of the link they discuss the fact that bovedas can come in direct contact with buds without any issue.

I thought I remember a time when I bought 54% bovedas specifically created for cannabis, but they don't offer them anymore. I bet they determined it to be too dry for cannabis storage.
Which humidity is best for pressing is a whole different discussion.

First press today, bagless 5g pre pressed in the 30mm SS. I preheated to 190 and pressed for 2:30.
Only the front edge of the puck pushed out. I was at about 2000 psi on the gauge. Slight bleed through the back of the parchment. Most blonde rosin I have pressed yet. Still waiting to gather the goodness and weigh. I took a few shots for integrity and will post them shortly. This is a stellar setup, Thanks DabPress! and fellow rosineers.

Great info, thanks. Yes I've heard all sorts of reasons for people not using bovedas, and even talk about 62's being problematic but I've never had that experience over the years. Maybe it's my environment. The RH is only 30% in the house right now, so every time I open my jars I am draining my bovedas. IMO nothing can really replace a hygrometer. Especially in more humid environments.

That sounds like a good PSI for an unbagged 30mm puck. Do you think you could slide the puck back just a little futher to keep it from pushing out the front edge, or was it flattened more than 3"?

There was plenty of space to move the puck to the crease and away from the front of the plates. I expected to get a drip, but everything spread out around the puck instead. This is really dry, commercial herb. It vapes rather harsh, so I will smash it flat instead.

I agree, less than 2 bucks each (unde, I buy 5 at a time and test them by lining them up next to my expensive(compared) unit and check their readouts, out of the 15 or so that I have, only one was out (by 2%) so they are pretty accurate.

I use 62% Boveda´s for the herbs that r gonna be pressed to rosin and the 58% for
the ones i use in my Mighty/FP...simple reason i like the drier ones better for grinding right away

I also dont taste any difference if i let em cure 62% vs. 58 % long time.

Naming those strains got me remembering when I was getting into rosin. At the time, the concentrate selection at my caregiver was limited. I'd be lucky to find 1 sativa BHO. Then I got my first shop press and uncaged plates. I was squishing nugs and had access to practically anything I wanted

I've begun pressing some 2 month cured nugs. White widow, orange hill special, pennywise, swiss cheese auto, and strawnana magic. That's what I got to press for the foreseeable future I've been sampling the buds and test squishes throughout the cure, everything is finally on point with taste and smoothness. This orange hill special I've been pressing to start out with has really turned waxy. It starts out as a light clear to yellow sap then quickly budders up the same day, the following day it's a blonde crumbly wax. Still very tasty and the orange is coming through a lot better now that the buds have cured.

I know that I have limited experience with concentrates. I never did go out and purchase all the best stuff off the top shelf. I was more into economical meds that still tasted great. Frankly, most of my rosin has turned out better than the BHO I was buying!

Just for the hell of it I checked rec prices on rosin. $50/g

Finally got some quality flower again... hello Dabpress! Here's a test squish (bagless, 185F) of some Golden Ticket. Citrus fans rejoice - the flower smells just like Super Lemon Haze, but on impact an awesome lemon-lime terpene profile over a bed of Skunk is revealed!

Howdy FC! Some updates for you.

pm40r 40mm pre-press mold is finished, we are waiting on new pictures and stock will be updated on the webstore.

Filters bags to pair with pm40r (2.5") are in process.

Upcoming pre-press molds are nearly finished, hoping they will be done before the new year.

bj6t35 will see an update to allow for driptech. I am inquiring if this can be installed by the end user on first generation units.

rp557 caged cube kit 5.5"x7" is finished, also awaiting pictures and stock will be updated on the webstore.

And finally, the strongway pump with gauge is not even available for backorder as NT&E is waiting to verify incoming inventory from the manufacturer. They said late this month to middle of next month. Sorry for the delay in getting your pump pairing!

Whoops! I pushed the wrong button on the PID while changing the temp and can't figure out how to change it back? One of my temperature controllers is stuck in ALM1 with a red dot lit up, @psychonaut any idea how to turn it back to OUT1?

Give this a try, unplug the rosin control box, have all the switches in the off position. Turn the box upside down and on the bottom of the PID face that extends out from the face of the unit there is a clip you can take a dab tool and press in to unlock the module. Then slide it all the way out and then reseat it.

Lets see if that works, if not, I'd like you to try the same thing with the other module, except move it to the housing that is having the ALM1 lit up.

Alright, try this out, recalibrate the PID module.

It can be messy. I'd suggest to work over a waste can to catch any hydraulic fluid during the change. It's also a good time to empty the hydraulic fluid from the pump, and refill it to with the recommended amount. For tools I think you should only need some wrenches and teflon tape.
