dear anyone who has both a dbv and ssv, are the heating element covers interchangeable? they look like they would be but i dont know anyone with an ssv so i havent been able to test it, i want to get standard glass for my dbv but dont want to pay extra for a custom heater if it will fit regardless

I use both
yes they are interchangeable, but watch out...
the DBV has a shorter basic length Heater/Elemnt fixture, so if you use an SSV HC on it, it may not line up with the hole.
They do vary slightly since all are hand blown, so during ordering you could mention the use, and request special consideration.
Member Cluffy here at FC uses a DBV with standard SSV HC as his daily driver. If you look back at his posts you will see his setup~

My friends call me "Menz"
so my Buddha has returned home. i saw the tracking said it arrived and i could not wait to get home to meet my friend. to my surprise it was not MY friend but an all new Buddha. at first i was kinda excited when i saw the new clip to hold the heater cover in place. no more annoying shims and spacers. then my excitement started to drop when i noticed that the heater cover did not sit flush due to the clips mounting screws and then i noticed that the heater cover hole (where the wand is inserted) was higher than the hold in the Buddha itself. after playing with it a bit i noticed the new clip was pushing against the heater cover forcing it to lean backwards. :( to further my disappointment.... i bought a flavor oil kit a month or two ago before my Buddha died, and i ordered the model for shims and spacers. a While yes it does fit my new Buddha sort of (it does the lean back thing too) the wax melting bowl that i bought no longer sits on my Buddha correctly when the oil kit heater cover is in place and it sat fine on my old Buddha.

i am really quite upset now that they replaced my ENTIRE Buddha instead of just replacing the heating element in my old one which is all it needed. none of my heater covers (including the one it came with) sit right. so very disappointed i am :( :(

Went out and purchased the DBV yesterday and so far im loving the thing but have a couple of questions.

Compared to the solo where you inhale very slowly how fast should my draw be on this vape?
Should The heating element be glowing? Barely glowing?

If anyone could give me some tips for better vapor production that would be great

that will be a fun game for you to figure out. Everyone is different in how they hit it. Good luck!

i sure wish my Buddha came back to me the way i sent it out now :( it was broken and needed to be fixed and i was aware that it would be "upgraded" from the shims and spacers heating element to the new "clip" heating element. i thought the upgrade would make the buddha that i already loved that much better. to my sadness my love for my buddha has gone down. i used t recommend this vape without hesitation but now i can't say the same. i am really really sad about this as i have written to Chris at 7th floor and his response was "does it work?"... well yes it does "Work" but now there are "flaws" that i did not have to deal with before. it really is quite frustrating sending in a piece that you loveonly to get back somethhing that now after an "upgrade" i only "like" now :(

Interesting.. I've also got one of the old Buddha's with the shim. What are the functional differences between the shim and the new clip version? Does it give weaker vapor?

the problem i have with the new clip style are the following:
1) my heater covers are loose and move more freely. my original more so... the replacement came with one and it is loose but nowhere near as loose as my original
2) there are screws that hold this new clip in place and the screw heads are right under the heater cover so the heater cover no longer sits flush on the base
3) my heater covers all now "lean back" because of the way the clip pushes on it so now the heater cover mouth and the budda hole for the wand no longer line up. my wand now comes in at a downward angle (opposite angle of the ssv) instead of straight in

i think that is it for now. i must say... i feel like a guy who sent his ferrari in to get serviced and got back a pinto back when it was returned :(

Do not waste time talking about it....
Put a shim back in.
That's what folks here do.
If you need shims PM me.
P.S.
you can remove the clip too if you want....
... I leave the clip in and add shims for double safety.

thanks Vitolo. I really feel like a dumbass cause i thought i could not go back to the other. Chris did not mention to me about that in my email communication either. if you say it can be done, i believe it can and will try when i get home. i saved all my shims and spacers just in case. thank you Vitolo, with your wisdom, i can hopefully return my Buddha to its original grandeur

You wont need all of the shims, if you leave the clip in place. it becomes a combination...
also you are able to alter the clips tension to suit your preferences.
the world is your Oyster.

So ummm... somehow a lighter fell onto mine and the glass part that you can remove and clean is broken. Are those easy to replace I'm hoping? I don't know how to tell if there is any damage to the actual heating element either. :(

I've found that you can literally fill the bowl with herb that covers the screen just a tad, and it gives about 5-7 good hits. I'm really medicated right now :smug:

5-7 good hits?? Don't get carried away. More like 3 or 4 tops.

I loaded a whip one time for an experiment. Now mind you I ran my DBV full blast and powerhouse hit it. I counted and I got 20 solid hits from a .2 bowl.

No you didn't.

Hey guys, I just got a buddha and wondering how it works. Do the herbs only get heated while you suck air through, or does it continue to vaporize between hits?

If you leave the wand connected and the temp is set high you may get a little ambient heat. If you're concerned then load a fresh bowl, let it sit for a while, and then inspect it. If you're going to walk off and leave it connected I'd turn the temp control down just to be safe.

I'd take the wand out anyway. Not only will it continue to cook some from the ambient heat but the chances of it getting accidentally yanked out and your herb spilled all over are very high. Maybe devise some sort of cap to put on top once the wand cools down.

I wouldn't agree with "very high". Depends on the activity level around the vape. Currently at my house the chances would be low, but this design does require care in handling during use AND when left w/wand connected. I never felt really comfortable with moving the whip around much while connected. I was afraid I'd hit a vulnerable angle and accidentally jerk it out of the HC. Long term use would help with that feeling I'm sure, but I decided my vaping location was better suited to the standard (non hands free) SSV connection, where the wand was always in my hand. It's just an ergonomics decision- to each his own.

You can't count someone else's hits- too many variables, including moisture level, grind consistency, amount loaded, temp used, and particularly the draw. One hit for me would be 2-3 for my wife.
