Da Buddha

I hit my da Buddha like you are mentioning. I turn it all the way to max but when I hit it through the whip I just hit it really hard to justify turning it up so high. I get a lot of big hits doing it this way.

I have been doing the same thing, but I think it prematurely kills the bowl. I am going to experiment using a normal temperature range and see if I can get more hits. I can't lie, there's a certain allure to taking ginormous clouds. When I used to combust, I found that the highest I could get would be from taking a whole bowl down in one huge cloud.

The old saying still might apply though, a smaller hit that you can hold in is better than a larger hit you can't hold in. So basically I'm wondering if it's a better idea to take a series of smaller hits and hold them in vs taking one huge hit.

I'm mostly just trying to get really blazed, I should let you know that is my end-game. It is very satisfying to see huge clouds upon exhalation, I'm just wondering if it's the best for my bank balance.

To me the smaller rips approach is like drinking beer. You can still catch a buzz, and it's easier to control yourself and not get belligerent.

Shots however can smash you in the face if you're not careful. I kind of view the one large rip technique as similar to taking shots. You can definitely catch a buzz quicker but if you're not careful you'll be TOO impaired too quickly.

Here's my latest setup.

You sure like to pimp your ride man. :) Looks like a hooka.

I think a slower hit tends to extract better, with a higher THC/CBD ratio and the flavour lasts longer. I did get blazed with about 1/3 of the DBV wand but using my WW, so i know there is really no need to use a lot in a row unless for the psychological thrill to see a fogged room just from one exhale. :D

In a way it prematurely finishes the bowl, considering what could have been a slow, savoury session ends in just a couple of hits. Not that it doesn't have its allure, just not always imo. ;)

Okay so I have brought my Buddah temperature back down to a more reasonable range, where I used to keep it before I received the Vapor Tamer. Definitely got more hits out of the whole experience, as to be expected, but I thought that I got 3-4 more very flavorful hits out of my experience.

Previously, if my temperature was jacked up to the max I would only get one really huge tasty hit, followed by one stir and a final popcorn rip. All in all, about two hits.

Put it back to 12:30, that's ideal on my Buddah unit. I am getting 4-5 tastier hits, all of which are large cloudy exhalations. The flavor lasts longer and the buzz was fantastic as usual.

I think the one large rip definitely hits you harder, but in terms of a good prolonged experience, probably not your best bet. It's not to say that I'll never do it, but I'm not going to make a habit out of it, I don't have the funds for that lifestyle......... yet

actually I have found the opposite. I loaded .2 into my da buddha and turned it to max and got almost 20 solid hits off of it.

Damn that's some impressive efficiency. You must know the perfect draw speed so that your herb gets slightly boiled over that heat source, but never deeply browns out and kills your bowl. Do you take short snappy little sips?

I'd imagine if you weren't obsessed with puffing out huge clouds (as I seem to be) and you took smaller hits and held them in..... you would probably get more for your money, so to speak....

I could then see you getting up around 20 snaps out of your Buddah. 20 Huge clouds out of .2? Idk about that..... only way I could see that is if you filled your wand 1/2 full and were a vaporist that knew exactly how to draw and when to stir, and how to tamp your bowl ever so slightly.

I'm not counting you out tho buddy. Curious to see what's the method to your madness?

Ricchini,
Oh it was about half full maybe fuller. I usually stir after every hit and I just hit the shit out of it so that I get huge fat hits in about 3 seconds or so and I just take a whole bunch of those. I have the cloud now so the Da Buddha just sits atm.

Hey everyone, recently I've been using my DBV to vape Moroccan pollen, I was taking huge hits and it gathered really nice oils on the wand. Since running out I've practiced torching them directly in my bong, like some people do solo stems, with a reasonable amount of success. But earlier on, I simply heated the wand holding it with the gong joint facing downwards so all the oil ran down. I put the DBV on high and just hit the empty bowl and I got a pretty decent amount of fairly thick hits.
I should add that with weed I would almost always get combustion at 12, I've always thought my DBV runs hot.

treeman,
Relatively new Buddha owner here with a questions:

Does anyone else find that for some reason the first hit off a new bowl doesn't give much vapor? I find I usually don't get really strong hits until the second, even third draw from a new bowl. I can't quite figure that out. Is it possible I am doing something wrong? It doesn't seem like it would be very easy to do anything wrong with this device.

Now after the first couple draws, it hits like a bitch. Whassupwidat?

I think it is normal for that to happen in mainly convection units.. how fast do you draw? I haven't use the Buddha in a few weeks but i iirc that happened to me as well, to a point at least. Maybe the herbs benefit from some priming before the biggest hits in the Buddha, i must say it hasn't been a problem since like you said, after the first couple draws it hits like a motherfucker.

This is true, in my experience with all vaporizers.....
first hits the herb and it's oils are getting ready, and after initial exposures to heat, the resins begin to "volatilize". (second... third hits etc)

Interesting. Maybe it's just more noticeable for some reason with the Buddha. No, it's not a problem whatsoever; this thing can wreck me. I just noticed it and wondered.

Does anyone know when 7th floor changed the da buddha wands? I just got a new one in the mail because my friend dropped my old one. The new wand has a much larger hole in the herb chamber (maybe gives better airflow?) and doesn't flair out at the tubing end like my old one. It is much lighter, thinner and has many imperfections in the glass. Overall it has a much cheaper feel to it. It may be silly but I am disappointed.

They changed them quite some time ago I believe. Going to say a few years even.

My old one was a replacement as well and I got that a little over a year ago. Must have been right after that. oh well. Two wands down (neither of which I broke myself), we'll see how long this one lasts.

I just got a DBV in the mail today and have a question. I hooked the tubing up to the whip and mouthpice and took a breath through it to see how it would hit when in use. The tubing has a strong odor (and thus taste when breathing through it) of rubber/plastic/whatever its made of. Is there a way to get rid of this smell?

Being used to the all glass vapor path in my Solo, naturally, this was a bit of a shock to me.

Thanks.

The whip will smell for a bit, it still kind of gives off a rubbery smell still. Not during use, just during storage. :D

Yoshi,
You can try running water through it but im pretty sure you just have to wait it out for a day till it disappears.

It will go away though, do not worry.

you can wash the whip and dry it... that will remove some odor.
This has been done to my SSV tube and my Da Buddha tube daily for years.
Yes I do harvest and reclaim, but not from these tubes.
The DBV tube below was used (and cleaned in this manner daily) for two years before I replaced the tubes with new ones...
that now get cleaned the same way
Photoon2012-06-09at1225.jpg

I have cleaned my tubes this way daily for many years, and they smell clean always,
although they do after time appear stained.(but spotless)
After cleaning a tube or rinsing it it is important that it is dry inside completely before you start vaping with it, as moisture droplets attract further condensation and the process of it becoming dirty happens faster~

Upgrade to silicone tubing. The Silcon brand is affordable- sold in 10 ft. intervals.

I personally can not stand to touch silicone tubing. It has a certain flesh-like feel to it, that feels like a young monkey's palm... and I can always feel tiny bits of dust and grit on this tubing against my fingers. To me a very distracting feel.

What temps are you using for oil or bubble? Ive been playing around with my Da Buddha oil kit and love the thing. There's a thread about it in "Vaporizer Accessories" you should post your video in if you have the time!

I am dabbing waxes at the top of the temp dial....
lowering it to 2:30 for thinner oil that spatters.
When I do that, I take advantage of the ball to slow the vapor and give resistance to the airflow, to let me take my time with the hit, while keeping air going so the vapor does not catch on fire.
