Hey guys, new to the board just got a couple questions as I've been really bothered with them and can't seem to find the answers. I got my buddha the other day, ordered it off a site called evolveindustries.net and I noticed the heating element was a little loose, wobbly if you will. Is it meant to be like this so you can position it exactly where you want or did I get a defective item? I also read a lot of you use "heater covers" What are these and what purpose do they serve? Was my DBV supposed to come with one? I have since ordered another DBV(a black one, straight from 7th floor for my GF) so I guess ill find out the answers eventually but would like to know as soon as possible. I mean the thing rips, but that loose element is driving me nuts and I'd feel a lot better if someone could reassure me lol. Thanks!

i thought it was something that went over the top of the unit itself? Am I mistaken this for something else?

I moved and had the DBV packed up safely in it's carrying case that came with it. But for some reason, upon setting it up, I noticed a strange smell as soon as I turn it on?

I took off the glass cover (the piece the whip is inserted in to) to make sure I did not see anything inside, and it seems clear of anything. But I did notice that the heating source seems fairly loose and moves a bit.
Could it be that the loose heating source has been pushed down in to the base and that's making contact with something?
Anyone know what the inside of the DBZ is like and know how I could disassemble it to check to make sure everything is okay inside? I'm scared to use it when it's making any sort of smell....
(Edit: So I unscrewed the base and looked inside, all the wires etc look fine. It doesnt seem like there is anything that could be coming in contact and/or burning aside from the wires themselves, or the cloth-type covering surrounding the bottom of the heating source itself.

I think you mean DBV..?
If so the heater is suppose to be a little loose, it just sits on it's wires I believe.
The smell is weird though. Is it a melted plastic smell or more a burning herb kinda smell?

I turned it off quickly as soon as I smelled something so I didn't assess it too much, I didn't want anything to burn out, but I think it was more of a plastic smell.
It is sitting on wires... but is it normal that the wires are not mounted on anything? It's just sticking through..
Does it matter how far the heating source is pushed in to the base?

Everything still sounds normal to me, except for the smell and perhaps the discoloring (perhaps someone else can chime in on that one).
You can slightly push the heater in or pull it out to make your unit run a little hotter or colder. I used to do this with my SSV anyway (it uses the same heating element).
The standard heater cover of the SSV is handblown, so it varies in shape and size a bit. This way you can adjust it to make it work more or less the same with taller or shorter heater covers.
I think you need to contact 7thfloor for this one, or just leave it on high for a while to see if the smell disappears perhaps?

The "Cloth" will be a heat resistant cloth to stop anything coming in contact from burning.
If anything were to fall onto a heating element( even bits of dust ) when it turns on it will give a burning smell.
personally i would take the bottom off and run the unit and if the smell didnt emanate from the bottom compartment i would just leave it on until the smell was gone, but im not advising you to try it.

The smell happens when you first set it up, only. It is some of the glue left over from it being assembled. Just give it like 5 minutes to burn off at the highest temperature, and then it's good to go. It is not a recurring thing.
I think I read this in the manual... not sure.

Just so we have the most accurate information out there...
There is absolutely no glue used...no glue...used...at all. No glue to burn off. We test the units before we send them out, but its possible that if you did not get it directly from us, the heater cover could have been removed...the heating element touched...oils collected...this is just one hypothetical. Regardless, turn it on high, let er burn, adjust, let it rip. You wont' smell it again...
The heating element should be as high into the heater cover as possible, without touching the glass.
Something may have fallen into the electronics, but its highly unlikely. If you feel that this has happened, carefully remove the baseplate and check. Check the wires, if anything seems amiss, send customercare@7thfloor.biz with some images and we will troubleshoot.

I received my first real vape on friday, a DBV, and i'm still trying to figure some things out.
I was wondering if you could tell me, how much herb would you use per session and how long the high lasts in each session, dividing the feeling in four levels, 1-most high/4-less high
I come from a joint smoking habit and wanted to streamline my learning curve in vaporizing.
Any help is appreciated!

great vape to start out with. Obviously this depends on the quality of the weed but with mine I usually pack around .2 and vape that twice most likely. I can vape it all in one session but I'm usually high enough by 3 or 4 hits anyways lol. I did a sit down with .2 and the Da Buddha and I got 20 solid hits out of it. It is totally diferent from the physical numbness you feel after combusting. But for me it is still strange to not feel that way now, i guess i miss the "tobacco high" as well.
Do you guys feel you stay longer between vape sessions than when you were smoking?
And how about the bong+dbv setup, do you find it essential ou just different? And the ssv HC + mini wand?

Just got my DBV yesterday and everything looks great and performs even better. Bought it off another user here on FC, so it is second hand. Will have to post a feedback for him soon enough.
I'm still slowly reading thru the pages of this topic (on page 15 and still going) and learning more and more about this vape, but a problem has already popped up.
As I was unpacking my DBV, I saw that the custom SSV heater cover that was included with the DBV I bought and it has a hole on top of it. Made me sad. The seller (cool guy btw) snapped pictures of it before shipping it out and it wasn't broken then, so it must have been damaged in shipping. Enough talk, picture time.
Anyways, do you guys have any ideas if this can be fixed or salvaged? Or if I can just use it like this? I haven't used it yet because I don't want my 1st time with the SSV heater cover to be a bad experience. I've just been using it with the DBV heater cover, but I want to know what the SSV hype is all about.
Wife is telling me to stop whining and just order the SSV heater cover for the DBV directly from 7th Floor. But I'm cheap.

I would order it also.
It is not that expensive... ships fast, and is safest bet.
Only a glass blower can fix that... and he would need to do so without altering the inner dimensions.
Looking at the image you posted well... I see that this is not a crack or small fissure, but rather a good sized hole!
