Da Buddha

hey guys here is a pic of how I have my Da Buddha set up to give me the best angle I can do with a round base.
I am using some of the no-skid foam placemat cut into a rectangle, and to prop up the da buddha I used a round"ish" reading glasses case.

This is the first time I have ever heard of anyone feeling the need to prop up their Buddha like that. VaporBros, yeah, but the DBV? Why?

actually I am in the works with a NASA scientist to engineer a small "gentelman's box" style holder. The it would hold the DBV at an angle and also support a whip station in whilst the whip/wand can stay ergonomically. Must yield ease of accessibility, quickly go into "stealth mode" where its easy to transport EVERYTHING involved with DBV and accessories (herb included). Posses low maintainability. Most importantly look nice maybe in all wood tone with some colored felt? Maybe a carpet? for the Buddha wand?

Prototype will come out soon with pictures.

I think all will like.

TheDudeAbides,
Great name, idea, and avatar Dude, I love Lebowski.

What exactly is the difference between the DBV heating cover and the SSV heating cover? Why is the SSV apparently considered superior and can a SSV one be installed onto the DBV? I see the SSV heater cover is all of 15 bucks on Vapeworld.

DBV wands are 30 while SSV wands are less, should I just get a SSV wand?

The DBV heater cover has a 90 degree angle, where as the SSV does not. No, a SSV heater cover will not work in a DBV. You can find pictures and clearly see the difference.

aesthyrian,
Thanks for putting up with my stupid questions guys, I'm new to 7th floor vapes. I was very surprised when I first saw it in person, expecting the heating element to be a male like "box" vapes and not a female, so thats shows how much I know about 7th floor stuff.

1: I'm reading about people using extreme elbows, am I to understand they mean something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/Extreme-Arizer-...332?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230d9153c4 and just attaching a whip I already have to that would work fine?

2. how long can DBV safely be left on, according our experience or the manufacturer's instructions? I got none with the unit.

3. mine say produced and assembled or something like that on the bottom, were older ones made in America?

4. Best place to get a whip? I just found out my Glassmansdoll 19mm adaptor can be used a bowl, but the heat needs to be way down and a screen has to be placed precariously within the male 19mm joint.

Edit: one more question. The first post says the SSV has a higher vapor to air ratio, is this true and if so why?

1.) No Clue

2.) 7th Floor has had one running at their factory ever since they began making them and it still works as far as I know. I left mine for a year straight, I would just lower the temp when I wasn't using it. Honestly, turing it on and off seemed to cause more damage than leaving it on seeing as the knob started to become loose and would be the first part to go given all the wear and tear. Now I never click it off, even when it's unplugged.

3.) mine says Designed and Built in the USA. so yes.

4.) Depends on what you're looking for in a whip..

aesthyrian,
So even without a bowl made for the purpose, I absolutely love my DBV. I just wish I didn't have to keep calling it that, it's such a silly damn name!

It blows any other whip type vaporizer I've tried out of the water, and for multiple reasons, is now quickly taking the place of my former torch-lighter based vapes most of the time. The hits are superbly dense, the efficiency is damn high with my bowl set up, it's such a convenient trouble free way to chill and get vripped. I have a HA on the way, we'll see how the two compare, and how the HA bags compare to volcano bags.

So I, like poster 1238 or so, the one with pics, am placing the screen inside the male Gong joint on a glassmansdoll (etsy artist) 18.8mm glass adaptor, meant to be on the OTHER side of the whip and going into a bong. I have my DBV as low as it can go, which is just at 9 o clock. My screen is just a conventional one, shoved roughly 60% down the joint, and holding a very modest pinch of material. That posters DBV must be way colder than mine or his dial just starts working further down than mine, because if my screen were right there at the end as pictured it would almost certainly combust. The hits are rich and dense and against, I am impressed with the efficiency achievable while giving such great quality puffs. Because I'm USING my adaptor as a bowl I haven't even been able to use it with a bong yet, and I still love it.

DBV is the shit. 'Cept the name.

1: Charlie check page 52 of this thread and post #1284 : we are talking about the dome SCREEN of the Arizer elbow (the 2 upper ones here: http://www.justvaporize.com/media/c...a1a5060f0b10b16e/a/r/arizer_screenpack_01.jpg ), not the elbow it self! This will reduce greatly MJ consumption, but as your glassmansdoll (or a vaporbros mini-whip) you have to lower the heat!

4: 7th Floor has good prices on 20 ft. + with no off-gassing vinyl tubing.

5: I own an SSV, have used a DBV and yes ratio is higher on the SSV because of the holes of the HC which are smaller then on the DBV!

off gassing vinyl tubing? please enlighten me on this. I also am interested in the screens. I'll have to try that out.

Yes many vinyl tubing (or PVC, which is also a vinyl!), eventhough considered "food safe", have very low resistance to high temps and will begin off gassing "nasty stuff" at 70 C and more.

2 options there:
medical grade silicon...works safely with temps reaching 200 & more, and it's a flavor enhancer IMO. The cons: more flexible, a texture less appealing and it keeps more particulates & smells then vinyl.
High temps treated vinyl/PVC: 7th Floor confirms their tubing is one of those (and their prices are good for 20 ft. +), or you can find them googling easily!

But the best place, to learn more about tubing, get the "scientific" details, the sources and prices:

DBV was made in china [except for the glass] then shipped to the fine folks at 7th floor for Q&A.

doesn't matter though, as long as it serves it purpose.

even though it says MADE IN THE USA, it wasn't.

I like the name waaaaay better than a stolen comic book character. I feel that Buddhism and the image of Buddha has a lot more to do with zen and getting high, and giving you the right mindset than a god damn silver guy surfing in space fighting galactus.(sp?) I think they should have saved the stolen comic book character name for the cheaper version of their vape and not the other way around. Just my :2c: not trying to attack your opinion.

That's an incorrect blanket statement. They did change production to overseas but there way many years where all the SSV's and DBV's were made in the USA. Now they are made in China, but it wasn't always like that until the demand caught up with them.

About 7th Floor's customer service, I have read all the horrible stories. But have NEVER experienced it. Ever. Neither have several of my buddies. We all get responses within 48 hours. Maybe they just like us Illinois folk? It is bizarre to read these things when I am always treated like a king by them. I guess my luck will run out sooner or later :/

I feel stupid cause this is whats hppening to mine...sort of, and ive been posting on a different thread.
once when i removed the heater cover the lil shim thing came off with it. but also a little thin metal strip broke off from the shim. I dont know where it came from but i think it was tacked on to the inside of the shim makin it just a little bit tighter. now even with the shim back on my heater cover is very loose and shifts easily side to side when using it.
its only a month old so i could send it in for repair, but im not really willing to wait for that. it still works

Brenard420,

So the thin metal strip was indeed a tiny spacer keeping the whole thing tight. I managed to use some needle nose pliers and slide the thin strip and the metal shim on together. It is now a snug Fit:D
Even tighter than before. if the little shim pops off i will have to do this again but it was actually a pretty easy fix after i did a lot of bitching.

aesthyrian

You guys just need to take that metal shim, and open it up, making it so large that it will NOT fit inside the glass heater cover. You then place the shim over the heater in the DBV where it goes and then put the heater cover on over it. You will need to be firm, but careful. This creates a REALLY tight seal, so tight that the next time you want to take it off you must slowly and gently wiggle it back and forth until its loose.

hey man, at the dbv website the tube sales pitch says "It is far better than silicon tubing because it does not collect all the dirt and oils from you hands"

but looking at this link
http://www.vapeworld.com/da-buddha-whip

i would have figured that 7th floor actually uses silicon tubing. the last sentence reads "This 30" whip again is actual 7th Floor (the makers of the DBV and SSV) super soft silicon tubing. "

They blow thier own glass and sometimes the glass size is a bit off....the metal shim in the pic most times works. They sometimes put a slim piece of metal between the base of heater and shim. I had that problem when I bought a custom heater cover. I just cut a screen into and put the sreen inside the shim and carefully pushed it in place and it tightend everything up......use good judgment doing this....but its a trick I learned and works well as long as you dont FORCE it to much pushing it back in place.

With this kind of industry if you don't know someone that actually works there, Good luck trying to find out what our items are REALLY made of. Of coarse they are not out to hurt us. There are THOSE company's that use all over seas parts and assembly. Which are definitely in it only for the money. Which is why these forums are such good places to find information. The "industry" has no really regulatory system or "monitoring" other than trial runs that the company's do by running trial and error prototypes. So these claims are all backed by what? For one thing I do trust the PD at leaving it on all day. With its wattage consumption ...etc. Did you notice that all electronics have to be approved by the UL (Underwriters Laboratories) in order t be mass produced. Now look at the bottom of you DBV. Not knocking the DBV but you have to read carefully. Of coarse there is no UL approved stamp. Plus they label that they are not responsible. Like I said it take a lot of money to get approved from UL from what I understand. This is why I don't leave my DBV on all the time. I'd much turn it on off between rip sessions.
