I am very happy with my new DBV, and would recommend anyone to get this vaporizer. One thing I wish they would do is add a screen to stop material from falling onto the ceramic heater. Due to the angle when inserting the glass stem in if material is not packed it can fall forward onto the heater. I fixed this by using the huge screen from my EQ vape and so far no problems with herb burning on the heater. Got mine from Namastevapes since it was on sale just no black ones but the silver finish is growing on me.

Inhale.
Draw air as you approach the heater with your wand!
Begin drawing just a moment before you place wand in HC..
make your hit begin about 1-2 seconds sooner.
You will find that you could vaporize with a heater cover that aims to the sky.... and a wand pointed toward the ground, by controlling your load with an inhalation.

@Vitolo is wise in the ways of vaping, heed well his words. Suction is also the easiest way to fill your wand, use your lungs to hoover the material into the wand. You can load directly from your grinder without risking a mess.

When I played with the idea of extra screen, I ended up with drag issues and it was a pain to stir, I like to stir to expose as much of the material to the heat as possible. And finally, filling your wand less than half full will also help keep the material from sliding sideways into the element.

I may have wished for a sleek black model when I first got it, but my simple silver with black base Butsu does it's job and looks plenty classy.

I love DBV...very happy with my decision to sell PAX to finance DBV. No regrets.

After using DBV daily now, I find that loading the wand half way and keeping it on 12 o'clock, gives me a perfect 20 minute session. I get 3 or 4 stirs per pack. I also make sure not to pack tight but just enough so material isn't falling out of place...

Is there a better way to go? I know a video I saw recommended only filling to 1/4 way...but I find half way works best.

I also never go past 12 O'clock and I get nice dark green/brown ABV. If I go to 1 or 2 o'clock the ABV is black...does this mean it's combusting?

If you combust in a DBV, you'll know it. You'll get tons of smoke and a red glow in the wand from your combusting material. The more you pack in the wand, the hotter it will be. The slower you draw, the hotter it will be.

DBV was my first vape, and I've had it for three or four years. It was my only vape until I went portable with FF and Pax. I used to start at about the 2:30 position and leave it there, resulting in dark brown ABV. When I discovered the flavor from my FF, I turned the DBV down to 12:00 and am enjoying that wonderful flavor from it and then turning it up to finish.

DBV through water is wonderful and probably still my favorite delivery system. I also like the glass oil diffuser top. Keep it on all the time so it's always ready to go and smells good, too. Enjoy your new DBV.

One of the reasons I love my DBV is the wide range of usage modes. I began using my DBV with an 18/14 reducer in the HC with a 14/14 m/m gg adapter as the bowl and a 1 ft hose. I would load from .025g to .04g (yes 1/40 to 1/25 of a gram). I would get several satisfying hits set and 12 or 1.

Now, I am at the other end of the spectrum. I mate my DBV to my bubbler with an 18/18 mm gg adapter, no hose. It sits upright. I fill the bowl to the top, turn the DBV full blast, and try to hit just fast enough to not combust. I get 5-6 hits off a full bowl (same size as stock DBV wand). I could finish a full bowl in 4-5 hits if I stirred. I find when I stir the screen gets clogged much faster. I take 3 hits, dump the top 1/2 the bowl, then hit again. Not quite as big as hits, but the screens last 4 or more times longer when I don't stir.

So my answer to your first above question is, there are many, many ways to use your DBV. The best way is the one that suits your need at a particular time. You seem to have found a pretty satisfactory mode of vaping, but experimentation can be fun.

Happy Vaping!

Edit: Nice bubbler setup!

How can I keep the DBV wand from smelling?

What's the best way to clean without using ISO (the smell makes me sick)?

I don't know, because ISO is what I use. Can you use other high proof alcohol like Everclear or 151?

Im curious to see what ways I can remove the silicon whip from the equation...right now in use a whip to connect my bubbler to the wand...but how can I avoid the whip?

What glass pieces can be used with DBV and the wand?

Do they make a glass tube that you can hook a bubbler or bong up to the DBV without using a whip?

Get a male-male adapter, though you'll have to hold your DBV at a jaunty angle- though if you have just the right style bubbler, and just the right angled adapter(s), you might be able to finagle a standing construction of magic :science:

It may sound a bit ghetto, but if you have any plastic coat hangers, break an extra one and thats pretty much what I use. Although I did have to cut the tube shorter to make sure I got every grove, just make sure you clean it beforehand; no need to be 100% professional especially when trying to get the best cheapest clean, I do need to update my tube though, had the same one for over a year
Lol I think he means the glass bowl/wand

as for your whip adapter- I think this would work

I put the wand and whip in a plastic tupperware container, problem solved.

It's crazy how much that wand and whip stinks up a room.

Jman, I may not have been clear earlier. I mate my DBV to my bubbler (D020, dewar) with only an 18/18 m/m gg adapter. Some peoples first impression of this method may be that it is awkward to hold the DBV sideways to mate with a waterpiece, but I find it much easier than using a whip. I used the whip for a year, but once I switched, I haven't gone back. I tried the whip about a month ago to see if I was missing something, but no, never again for me.

But that's just me. Most DBV owners who vape through water are perfectly happy using the whip. I straddle the line of vaping/combustion. To this end, I find that "no tube" gives more instant suction change than "tube", if that makes any sense. While YMMV, the bottom line is that I find that I can control the airflow to better avoid combustion without the tube. If you do not require bigger hits, this point may be moot.

You also, obviously, never have to worry about cleaning or changing tubes with my method. That is a big plus for me, as I favor low maintenance vapes.

If you have problems with hand strength or coordination, this method may not be for you. All my friend who tried it had no problems, but I'm sure some will have probs.

If you try my method, please let me know what you think.

They don't make one but you can rig one up. Oregon glass blower made me a glass adapter to use the pnwt with my dbv.

I know it looks pretty sketchy for the glass but it's thick and I've done stress tests and have been using it like this for a few months ... just need to give friends a heads up before they use it.

Cluffy.... that is an SSV base in a powder coat finish that almost perfectly matches the powder coat DBV.
He has done this (I would imagine) because the base is metal and heavier, and the extended foot compensates for the added weight load toward the front, from the glass.
Balance and counterbalance.

Bingo ... it also looks and feels better than the plastic ssv base imo.

If I had an awesome red unit like @Vitolo I'd have grabbed a blue base and maybe some custom blown glass with white fuming ... America!

I was using my DBV dry this weekend and realized I really enjoy it without water. When I

I started using it with water bc I assumed it would be cleaner and provide a smoother hit...but now I'm thinking maybe the water is somehow making my throat hurt, maybe because I'm pulling more through and there is more drag?

Would there be any reason why the DBV feels harsher through a bubbler?

Hey fellas,

A new DBV owner here from down under. Loving this little gem of a unit so far. It really does work a treat and it's safe to say, after about 6 years of combustion, dirty bongs and black lungs, I will never be going back.

Now I’ve got a quick question in regards to wand hash. I’m starting to build up a nice amount of this golden coloured honey like residue on my wand but I’ve noticed that I’ve also got quite a few black specks (I assume from combustion when I was still getting acclimatised to the unit). Is it safe to just scrape/ISO it all up or should i give it a good clean and wait till next time before I try my hand at recovering some of this gooey goodness?

I tried a search and nothing came up but I do apologise if this has been covered elsewhere.

Hello all. I am going to ask my son (a glass artist) to make me a couple custom knobs for my DBV. What I can't see in any photos of custom knobs is how one would fit onto the DBV. Is the old knob removed, or does the glass just fit over the metal knob? And is it a grooved/splined surface or just a tight-fitting glass on metal fit? Thanks for any info.

Edit: I don't have the DBV yet (it's on the way), so I can't really examine the possibilities myself.
