@invertedisdead I was just thinking about the entrainment of air through all those holes in the Ti and not just the thermal mass, but the actual surface area of the Ti. I would suspect it would be hotter vs the slim series base? At least that's the impression I got when I used the SH for flower...just felt "hot" compared to some other vapes.

IMO, theoretically, the VROD design should better support the vapor from falling out of phase and condensing before it gets into our lungs, since it's not designed to dissipate heat away from the joint like the heat sink on the Slim Series. Whether that comes with any additional harshness from added convection air, I can't say until I try one.

Wouldn't that cause even a greater thermal contrast, thus producing even more reclaim?

It should be less reclaim as the whole air path of the VROD head is continually heated. I never saw a drop of condensation in my Showerhead air inlets.

There's variables though, I know many preheat their carb caps as even that can be a big condensation point.

You're misconstruing bro, I was referring to the vapour meeting the glass. Shouldn't be long until more Vrods and SiC dishes are in the wild for more real world data!

Yeah I guess I don't understand what you are asking. I thought we were talking about the surface area of the titanium.

I have all the NV heads and also the slim base. I have only used the slim base with the 710whip so I can’t comment an the performance of a true flat coil. It maybe time to order a true flat coil for some head to head testing though.

When I first got the OG 16mm Flowerpot I was kinda bummed dabbing from it coming from the slim base/710 whip combo. If I planned on dabbing for the day or got a new strain I really wanted to get the taste of I would use the 710 whip combo as the oil would run to the sides of the dish on the OG Flowerpot set up. Since the 20mm wraparound head has come out I haven’t used the slim base at all. The wraparound fixed the problem of the oil running to the sides and really stabilized dish temp. Now with the vrod I can go even lower on the temps then I could with the wraparound head. I am really liking it for dabbing. I have been down to 480 with it and it still produced some vapor and the taste was incredible but that low is just not for me.

I used to get a lot of reclaim from the slim base but don’t hardly get any from the NewVape heads. It doesn’t bother me as I just toss my reclaim anyways.

Im going to order the vrod carb cap soon so we will see how it compares against the dnail one. I love the dnail cap, it’s going to be hard to beat it.

Where? After a while I will get sublimate style red oil around the bottom of the joint, but my glass just gets a small booger building up floating on the water that is super easy to reclaim (although I don't bother either). I can't say that reclaim is an issue whatsoever in my experience with ANY of the glasses pieces i've ever used with it (nearly a dozen). Are you using high diffusion pieces or larger pieces?

Really good feedback ... thanks! Anxious for your comparisons of:
- vrod vs d-nail halo slim base
- vrod carb cab vs d-nail halo carb cap

FWIW, with my High5 LCD I can get vapour production no problem with tiny dabs at 450f on the slim series base (my girl's go-to temp). I personally prefer the 525-625 range, depending on the extract.

I don’t do tiny dabs so that’s probably the difference.

Edit: here’s my normal size dab.

Is anyone still doing uptemping? I kind of disregarded it at first, but it's growing on me more and more. So far I've just from trying different timings of turning the coil off and on again, such an easy thing to do.

I'm tempted to upgrade my controller to one that still shows the temp when it's turned off. My RDK300 can, but I have that hooked up to another vape with the settings modified.

Yes I really like uptemp dabs. I haven’t done any for a few weeks as I was using the showerhead in preparation for the vrod and since I’ve gotten the vrod I’ve been playing with it to much but thanks for the reminder. They are awesome. I’m about to do one right now!

I doubt it, I rarely do a tiny dab...but it's all my girl can handle. Perhaps it's that coil thing you were talking about.... I have a legit setup with the flat coil. You're not using the flat coil right?

Shit yes! Just can't get any smoother or better tasting! But it's not something that I do "all the time" anymore.... I LOVE cold loaded dabs!

I can't say enough good things about my High5 LCD! But I only have a Vapecode for a comparison. The High5 just rocks... @JCat will vouch for it, and I believe has already written much about it. I LOVE my High5 LCD #1!

As far as straight up functionality, meaning a solid controller that maintains temp extremely well, the auto-tune function is great, and the PID algorithm (2-DOF) is first-rate. The Omron E5CC PID really can't be beat as far as stability.

No bells and whistles like something like the Hexnail, but very good value ... and available to us Canadians from @PlanetVape :)

The 710 whip is a ceramic flat coil with a rhetostat temp control. It works good just don’t know the exact temp your dabbing from. I get decent vapor production at 480 but those low of temps are just not for me. About the lowest I like on the vrod is 520.

I just did an uptemp dad started at 430 ended at 575. It was a super nice tasty smooth hit. Uptemps are bomb!!

Is that like the dnail analog controller?

I have some Strawberry Short Cookies hash rosin (shatter consistency) that i'm just about to do the same with!

It worked well actually but there is no way to know any sort of temp unless you use an ir gun or better yet a k type thermocouple. The hottest the 710whip could get to was around 750 so I would usually go about 3/4 of the way on the dial.

I agree a real flat coil is needed to compare though.

A kind member already had answered without the smug...but thanks soo much anyway.

Have you had any success? My cap is pretty nasty....the hot cap and qtip doesn't seem to be doing the trick and soaking it in ISO only gives me partial success. I suppose the next step is the torch!

I really think I need to start preheating my cap more frequently, but I find it such a pain when using the dabber on it too.

For sure man, because apples to apples, if you are saying that the Vrod allows for less reclaim than a dnail slim series base everything else being equal, i'm interested in hearing more. Hopefully some other members with both will be able to toss in their input too.

If getting it hot and wiping doesn't clean your cap, you're at the torch level then....iso will be of zero help, blast that beast ad are some pretty color patterns.......itll be clean by then I assure you

I really need to get some of those precision cotton tips for those "shelves" in the cap! And my dish retaining nut is a beautiful brilliant blue just from high temp burn/clean-offs (I actually prefer cleaning with distilled water though).

Time for a Cali Orange Full Spectrum Terp Sap uptemp dab capped at 600! LIFE IS GOOD!
