Does anyone have a guess as to where the air flows in from? I cant really make it out.

I am still trying to figure out how the internals of this device works? It's amazing they are able to get such good airflow. I wonder where the air flows in from and how it gets heated exactly?

Lovin' my Crafty tonight, gonna fire her up in front of the computer here in a minute. So screwing around with it lots, lights all the way up, vaping way past the bowl being done I got 3 great sessions. 2 hours to recharge and its ready to go again. Love this little vape . . . :luv:

That's not true.

To state that price is the only advantage that other vapes may have for everyone else is simply not true.

Guys, please understand, I am not hating on the S&B vapes at all. As a matter of fact, the Crafty has my attention so much, I'm actually contemplating getting one, but I think the pedestal that some of you are putting them on may be a bit too high.

Your point is well taken. However, I don't think that people are necessarily saying that this is the best vape for everyone. Rather, I just think this is fulfilling a need that simply hasn't been met by the market until now. We've always had vapes that are efficient, tiny vapes, vapes with instant heat-up, vapes with long warranties, etc. What we haven't received thus far is a truly powerful (desktop-caliber), hard-hitting vape in a small and portable form.

And also, for the record, I was and still am a huge fan of the Plenty. In fact, I was so much of a fan that for my first few posts, I was suspected of being an S&B shill. But with that said, as much as I love the Plenty, the issue I had with it was cleaning. When it was brand new, it was super efficient, easy to take hits from, and overall amazing. However, I found after ~10 bowls, the metal coil and top piece got clogged, and I would be forced to either clean it (a long process with boiling water) or just put more into the bowl. That, ultimately, is why I felt the Plenty was inefficient - I never felt it was inefficient while clean. I am hoping that the Crafty will not run into the same problems.

However, with that said, I find it kind of frustrating that only now S&B recommends alcohol for their plastic parts. I remember in the Plenty manual it specifically forbid alcohol as a cleaning agent for the plastic parts - this is annoying because I would have never soaked them the way the Crafty manual warns against. I am actually thinking about breaking out the Plenty and using q-tips soaked in alcohol for maintenance cleaning and seeing if I get consistently efficient results.

You might want to rethink that. There is a distinct possibility that S&B used different grades of plastic between the Plenty and the Crafty.

How well does the Crafty work with half a load and no liquid pad or anything?
Does it needs to be packed?

Does S&B also ships within Europe or does it also comes from a US place?
I hope not, this will make it extra painfull for me with import tax.
Better suit up and wear my bullet proof vest and go to the wife and explain
to her why we need this vape again....

Wow . . great session. I have crafty plugged into my computer and it seems to perform better than when on just battery. I packed the bowl more aggressively this time, it was preheated from the previous session, and I maxed the temp on full boost. Got a couple giant clouds and then cached the bowl in like 3 or 4 more big hits. The mouthpiece was starting to get warm. When I dumped the ABV came out in a little puck but it crumbled instantly when touched. This thing rocks. With some more practice I should have it really singing . . . :)

this means that it is working through usb passthru?

But it's not actually passing through USB power. The usb is charging the battery while at the same time the battery is powering the device. USB can only provide 10 watts which is far less then the crafty uses in operation.

Just got my crafty. The manual says it comes with 80% charge but I need to charge it to full before using. What is the reason for that? Would anything bad happen to the device if I just started using it before charging to full? Its been plugged in for about 30min and I am excited to try it.

Actually the light just turned solid blue. I guess its ready

My reading of the manual was the unit is shipped with "up to" 80% charge.

May or may not be relevant to the crafty, but I know that on my boxmods which run on lithium batts with a built in charger (1a/5v) there is less voltage sag under load when the charger is connected, meaning a slightly higher output power. The battery +/- are both connected to the charger as well as the heating element, I don't see why this wouldn't be the case here?

Quick update on battery life: I got about five full bowls on my last charge before it quit. I tend to take hits from bowls even after they're done without realizing it, so I could easily see getting six bowls. Battery life is about what I expected: nothing phenomenal, but definitely more than enough. I also plan on getting a USB battery pack to make the whole thing a nonissue.

One issue I am having is turning out to be a bigger deal than originally anticipated. I knew that the Crafty would need a partial charge before you can use it while charging. I didn't realize, however, how long it would take to get to that point from zero. I didn't time it specifically, but it was about 20 minutes or so after plugging in before I could use it again. This basically just means I have to pay more attention to the battery gauge, as I was straight up ignoring it yesterday.

Ultimately, I didn't buy this for very long battery life, and I plan on mostly using the Crafty while plugged in. Still, this is definitely something worth flagging: I would not recommend this for a heavy user who wants to go the whole day without charging without an external battery pack. Thankfully, external batteries are cheap and easy to come by, and the ubiquity of USB chargers nowadays mitigates this concern.

I'm guessing @t-dub saw the increase in performance from his "packing more aggressively" not anything to do with the USB charger to be honest. It vapes with small half filled bowls alright. It works and you can feel effects, but there is virtually no visible vapor. I still haven't tried the liquid pad as a spacer yet either.

Tried the liquid pad as a spacer with a really really low amount of herbs. Vapor was really intense, so it does work great for those who want "smokier vapor", but I would like to lower the preset temps.

At the moment though I must say that I'm somewhat disappointed with the experience in whole, as I can't lower the temp because I can't get the device to connect. This might be due to a faulty device or the app, but the most disappointing thing is the customer service at Storz&Bickel.

They are quite slow to respond to emails and I didn't really get any help with the problem from them when they answered. This certainly lowers the value and experience with the Crafty. This is really high priced item so the service should be top notch as well.

I ordered from the EU site as I live in Europe, but if I don't hear from them by tomorrow, I'll try them by phone on the US side.

Has anybody compared this to the minivap? And is the mighty much better than the crafty?
Summary: It's larger and has longer battery life. Vapor production is the same, if not a little bit better. It also doesn't use an app to adjust the temperature setting.

Hey thanks for the description. Would it be worth paying more for the mighty? Also my Minivap is faulty and I am in a position to be able to exchange it for an S&B Crafty. Would it be worth switching from minivap to Crafty?

I believe @ShayWhiteGrow would be more equipped to answer if it's as good or better than the Minivap. The Crafty is amazing but if 5-6 sessions per charge isn't enough for you (and you don't use a USB portable charger), you should get the Mighty.
