Damnit, just ordered the liquid pads for the dosing capsules yesterday lol. Though I suppose for cleaning purposes it might be better to have removable ones.

I sent my Crafty out to Storz & Bickel recently, for being faulty. It was flashing red/orange and that meant the unit needed to be sent in. I used it for about 5 months and had 175 hours on it. After a session oneday, it died. My question is, what constitutes storz and bickel to replace the device in it's entirety.Do they just simply send you back a repaired unit?

So I finally was able to visit Colorado. First stop was a dispensory! Loaded up the crafty and enjoyed some Ogre Kush. Boosted temperature to pull out whats left............red/yellow death lights.

Unbelievable!!!! Crafty dead the first day of a two week trip to CO. ( luckily I-inhale and mflb to the rescue)

This will be my 4th crafty one in a year.

Has anybody out there upgraded to the Mighty recently? What was your upgrade charge? Any special way to ask for the upgrade?

Thanks in advance......

Wow, this is 3 Crafty crap-outs in a row, when claims seemed to have levelled off a little.

The flashing lites (faulty unit) will usually prompt them to ship a new unit to you. However, with a lot of hours (175 is really good) it may be suggested that you 'replace' the batteries while they have it. This sometimes leads to head-butting with them, when you pretty much know they're going to send a new one -with new batteries in it. My 2nd Crafty crapped out and I had to pay for battery ($50, now $70 I think), and further, was not allowed to upgrade at the time, but then when that one went to flashing lights they sent #3 for free. It was when #3 died that I did the upgrade.

I upgraded 10 months ago and the up charge was the listed difference in retail price between the two at the time. (I believe that's still at $60 US).
The most common time to upgrade on this deal is when Crafty has a valid warranty problem. This is why they will call it a 'warranty upgrade' on the new invoice. At one point early on, I asked for upgrade when I had no Crafty warranty claim in with them. They offered me a $100 discount towards a Mighty, if I'd like to purchase one. Not sure if they would have wanted the Crafty back in exchange or not.

So, when you have a Crafty to send in, make the online RMA request (check spam folder for replies!), get your approval to return the device; put a letter right in the box with Crafty, asking for upgrade to a device that's more suited to your usage pattern. This is what worked for me.
Mighty is far and away the more robust unit.
Do it!

I hope so, too. See above!
Edit; looking again, it seems you may have a dead-dead battery. If this is the case, they may want money from you, depending on what country you're in. When this happened to me I was upset, but paid. I got over it about 30 minutes after I got the new Crafty in the mail. I suppose if you're 'lucky' maybe it will be considered a covered charging issue.

Ill have to pay for a new battery after 100 hours of use? It didnt degrade from 5 sessions to 4 to 3, it was 4 sessions per charge one day and none the other why should i pay for this:-O?

I didn't say you'd have to. I took as guess about what might happen, just as I mused that you may be covered if they think it's a charging (or other) problem. Sorry, I didn't mean to set you off with my speculations.

To the people talking about device failure.

What are the usual hours and version that are associated with broken devices?

I think Randy at Puffitup probably has the most experience to give us the numbers on the Crafty... check out this thread....and I quote Randy:

"Repair Geek here. When a crafty comes back to our shop with a warranty issue, typically the range is 90-110 hours. That doesn't mean that crafty's all fail around that time range, however that seems around the time you start to see issues."

https://www.reddit.com/r/craftymighty/comments/4adtcw/how_long_does_the_crafty_typically_last/

And for what it's worth, I own 2 Crafty's..... one is a v2.10 with 32 hours on it without a single hiccup, and same with a v2.08 with 26 hours on it. Slightly longer heatups than when new but still serving their purposes excellently (now more than ever as i'm between homes so living out of a non-smoking hotel).

Long live the Crafty! (and my 2 Mighty's!)

This is what has happened to my Crafty, and Storz & Bickel are completely ignoring my RMA request. It's a 2 years guarantee and I bought it in September. I get the feeling they are delaying me so they can turn around and say it is out of Warranty...

Consumer law in Scotland gives me 5 years guarantee against any goods that do not conform to the contract of sale which covers manufacturer defects. This device is also only 7 months old and is not a repaired unit.

Going to email them again today, hopefully they will actually reply? that would be nice.

sorry to hear that. I actually already sent it in and they actually just sent me a tracking number to return. I have also upgraded to mighty so I don't have to send it in again (hopefully) I work through the USA crafty, they been great so far

As a helpful poster pointed out, he needed to check his junk emails. He did this, and found an email from S&B and, all is seemingly well.

Great offers. Unprecedented.
Thanks for posting.
Do you have any thoughts on why you are considered to have "circumstances" that warrant this?
Oh, btw, I'd suggest the Mighty.
