Lol mad scientist, as I am a tinkerer, I think I like that!

That case is just for dragging my toys around the house with me or to a bros house maybe. I have a couple smaller cases/bags I use for other scenarios. I outlined that in a earlier post.

It's amazing what can be easily kept organized and protected with a good case. The two pics below show my case packed, and unpacked. Every item you see is something I use fairly often, I have a family and choose not to use around any of them, so it's nice to be able to just close the lid, snap two latches, and I'm up and gone with all my goodies in tow and well protected.



And all packed up neatly. The orange squares you see are a silicone oven hot pad bought from wall-mart for a couple dollars. Easy to cut to the shape you need. I use them to keep the glass pieces from clanking off anything but the case foam, or the silicone pieces. They also double as a mini travel hot pad if you need to grab anything to hot to handle. This has not been a issue for me with the crafty, but it has been with other vapes I've owned. Also, by chance, the Orange is the same orange SnB use so they kind of look like they were made for the crafty. lol.

what do you use to scoop the plant material along the dispenser? have you tried the green shovle from starbucks that I use? it fits perfectly and you can even use it to shovle out material from the chamber in the case of overfilling.

86 hours.

I haven't but I guess I'll have to grab one and try it.

When I overfill I usually just turn the Orange pick tool around and scoop with it like its a hoe. It works. Your tool may work better, but it does work. lol.

And yeah I do realize I'm kind of a freak about it. But honestly I love having it all centralized, portable, and protected. Makes me a happy Vaporererer.

Sounds like your unit is right. You can use higher temps if you want for instant clouds. Just start over 200 degrees directly. Please let me know if you still enjoy the Pax more.

Be careful on using cheap plastic parts on hot units. If you do back-to-back-sessions I would stay with the heat resistant picking tool from S&B...

On Amazon I found a tamping tool for 5$, same price like the overpriced coffee from Starbucks

Perhaps worth for an investment? Can't melt in a hot bowl...

Damn technology. I love the vapor production, efficiency and ease of use of the Crafty but as many have stated before it is a delicate piece of kit. Tonight is my last night with the Crafty , keep staring at it across the room thinking of the good times we had . I will try and trade this in for a Firefly from the retailer I purchased it from, will be getting a Volcano in a couple of months also . Don't let my post deter any future adopters of the Crafty or Mighty; It really is an amazing piece of technology and IMO is not intended for heavy users. I am sure they will be fixing these issues soon as Michel said.

Totally agree with you on the heavy user part. With battery being little weak long recharge time and breakage issue. Don't get me wrong it does medicate extremely well. Part of it might have been expecting to much. It hits so well I been using it instead of my home unit. It's really not designed for that.
Of course figures after using this hard to go back to my home unit. As much as I love my cement zap kinda wondering if might be time to upgrade that to a S&B Plenty?

Anyways guess bottom line is awesome vaporizer for light user. For heavy medical user works great as a portable just not designed to be your only device.

I think the mighty has enough battery to be used as a home unit. I'm an all day user and I've never let it run all the way down. It's really is mighty.

Part of it might have been expecting to much. It hits so well I been using it instead of my home unit. It's really not designed for that.

You're totally right, but not for the mighty. Apart from the housing breaking of course. Mighty charges in less than 2 hours if dead, runs with empty batteries and last for me half a day with heavy usage and a day if going slow (can't vaporize too much at work and when studying...)
In my case, the mighty replaces the volcano, the mflb, 5-10 joints a day and could even replace the crafty. Crafty is only for a walk with the dog or going outside for not more than 3 hours and if not sharing the crafty

My verdict on miniVap baskets; (without water)

Been using these for a couple of weeks, Yes they do reduce the bowl size which is handy and cause more convection and less conduction. Which I have been led to believe would mean more flavor, but in my experience it was the opposite.

You need to draw more air through the unit to get the clouds going which I found to be a pain. The vapor seems less potent and less tasty, but no thinner it would seem.

Overall, not impressed, and am back on a stock Crafty setup.


Anyone after a miniVap basket for conducting (or convecting) your own experiments, pm me.

I agree here. The volcano is still my main Vape, while the crafty is more of a gap filler/on the go vape. The crafty really shows it's true colours on trips or outings. With that said I still have about 45 hrs on mine in less than two months .

Sorry let me elaborate on what I meant when I said it is not IMO intended for a heavy user. Yes the Mighty has a larger battery life but it also has a non removable battery. Now for such an expensive piece of kit, I would love the peace of mind to be able to swap out the battery if a problem does arise .

The plastic makes it feel cheap and that is why I never took mine out the house in case of a drop. Great this thing can survive being dropped in a toilet , but if a piece of housing breaks off after careful use that doesn't show great build quality IMO.
I know I am not the only one, seen several posts in the mighty thread from users reporting chipping of the plastic near the chamber. I know that know vape is perfect but compared to the other products this company has made the build quality is no where near as good.

Again just going to clarify, I love this device it is great but not for me. Sorry if any of this is unclear very medicated and slightly stupid.

My crafty has tasted like plastic since the day I got it. I've had it about 3 weeks now and I still get a plastic taste when vaping, but it's slowly going away. I wonder if I have a bad unit? Should there not be a plastic taste at all?

Hi man, i just heard from the shop where i bought it and they are gonna send me a new one. The guy i spoke to didn't know what the exact problem was, but tomorrow the technician who worked on it is gonna call me to explain what was wrong. If it's seriously bad for your health then i'll get you the answer as soon as possible.

I'm definitely gonna send a complain mail to storz & bickell if it hurt my health, any failure in production is a big NO with any kind of product from electronics to a simple chair.

So my hint: don't smoke it if it has a weird taste. Send it back, before you maybe 'vape' away some years of your life. Not really worth the risk

I find the crafty is a 'hit and charge' device. If i'm not hitting it, then I'm charging it. As long as you have a source for electricity and you clean it often, it can be used very heavily.

Vapefiend has dropped the prices of the Volcano, Crafty, Mighty and Plenty. To celebrate 15 years of S&B. I don't know if this is just vapefiend or will S&B also reduced the prices directly. I have been looking at the Mighty for a while now but seeing the Crafty is under £200 I am tempted just to get a 2nd unit! Again when I said heavy usage, I meant the inability of being able to switch out the Lithium ion battery which will die in a year at the very least ; It effects the longevity of this awesome device.

Everyone is going to have a different needs when it comes to each device. This was my daily driver for the month I had it , just at this price point I could not feel comfortable with the reliability of this product.

If I had a high end desktop like an Cano, Evo or whatever , this device would be an awesome backup and around the house vape.

@Krizzle Nice find was going to get an EVO, now the Volcano has dropped in price I am stuck once again.

Thanks man for following up on this. Really appreciate it. I think the plastic taste is coming from the cooling unit because I can taste the plastic even when not vaping. But, hopefully it's not something worse. I don't know why they made something like this out of plastic. I'll be checking back for any updates you might have. Thanks again man.

The plastic "taste" is just the smell of the crafty/mighty hologram on new CU's when glue is fresh imo.

Interesting. I wonder of the repeated heating and cooling is making the plastic brittle. It seems like this would have been caught in product testing so maybe it was a specific batch of plastic that had this issue?

Seems there were users with sn's in the 5000 s with this, mine is in the 500s. I believe same plastic used from start of production til now. IMHO

in my opinion, the miniVAP basket serves no purpose when you just drop it in the bowl and install the cooling unit on top of it. it just acts as a heat sink, absorbing heat that might otherwise be going into the herb. it's not eliminating conductive or radiant heat transfer because the basket gets really hot. I don't recommend doing that.

for pure convection with the crafty/mighty, you've got to use it without the cooling unit, as previously illustrated. the heat is removed from the load whenever you aren't taking a draw. I just use a miniVAP when I want to do this, but the crafty/mighty works well like this too if you want pure convection and want to avoid losing any actives to the cooling unit

still loving my Crafty, and no problems whatsoever. so incredibly handy (crafty!) for quick stealth sessions around the house and around town. hopefully some of you guys are just clumsy all with the braking plastic and such
