Cheap High Quality Bubbler

@little maggie i have the FC-mod and I like it but my UFO is still my go to daily driver. I think once I have a new hydrotube the mod might come back into play, especially for reclaim, but I find the draw resistance, amount of water, and my custom mouthpiece or whip, make the UFO almost perfect for me. The mod is super easy to clean though and I always love that in a bubbler. Glad you found something you like!

I'm seeing a lot of love for the UFO and wondering why there's so much love for it? is it the can size that makes it perfect for most people?

The can is bigger then the mod so it holds more water but still retains great flavor. I like the perc much better then a matrix or showerhead, the drag resistance is perfectly between an old school straight tube bong (chuggy) and say a D020-D (airy). It's modular and easy to swap out various mp's and my whip, and the way the vaporizer sits on the can, even with various dropdowns or carb attachments, it will never tip over. I have about 20 different bubblers and bongs at the moment and they all have their merits, but the UFO, for me, just works really well.

@John Lewus it will be a few weeks on the tubes...Chinese new year. Checkout the custom glass design thread.

Down to deciding which medium cheap DHgate piece to order....GB-188 vs FC-187 V2...plan to use w various vape engines....which style perc should I go with, a honeycomb disc or a showerhead slitted perc? Leaning toward the showerhead but the honeycomb is within a few bucks too....prob should just buy both....Draw resistance difference? Any and all input is welcome....Thanks in advance FC community!

Couldn't find the GB188, linky? I'd skip the honey comb. 187 is a matrix perc.

Is it uncomfortable for you that the joint is placed higher than the mouthpiece ? Therefore making it impossible to see where you place your oil on the nail

Yes, the mouthpiece is angled too low. This piece has everything going for it. Unfortunately, for me, that mouthpiece angle breaks the deal. No regrets, as I said, it's well made, stable and functions correctly, which says something for a diffusion pump. As a new design process, to witness the FC community put forth this design, I'm proud to have participated, even if only with a purchase and review.

I've already switched back to my FC-MOD. I use the birdcage-looking perc, replacd the ash catcher with a dropdown for my SiC+Auber, and replaced the mouthpiece with the whip adapter from my FC-UFO (which has way too much volume for me). I love it, it's stable, draws easily and is really fast to clean.

The GB-188 is the Honeycomb....so you'd go with the 187 then....?

Quite a bit of negativity on here recently re: Steven....still go with the 187 V2? How about that one vs a D020-D from Sunshineglass?

Thanks PF!

I think honeycombs are better for combustion. I had a D020 D that was great for vapor, but I just dab now, so I sold it. Never tried the 187, but I think the hit would be similar.
My orders from Steven arrived quickly, communication was good. Quality control was lacking, they offered a refund, but the piece I really wanted is subpar, so I'm disappointed. That kind of thing isn't confined to Steven, unfortunately.

Any recommendations for a nector collector glass straw or whatever they are called? Never.used one but appears to be a great option for crumble or shatter

I'd LOVE to see the rattle an with a mouthpiece closer to the straight fab, out the top of the can of need be

Thanks for the benefit of your expirience Pigfoot...You're right, unfortunately subpar quality control is certainly not limited to asian based businesses. Going to go with one of the matrix percs...might have bumped myself up to the UFO....Anyway...thanks again!

Lo and Behold! The transformative power of Vapor.
A lot of people keep convincing themselves publicly on the EQ thread that they want to purchase a d020-D. It's like a fever I tell ya. :zombie: I do want to be a helpful FCer and do my civic duty in the threads to stamp out combustion.:goon: So...
Can anybody recommend a reputable buyer, or any general do's and don't before I send them off? :hmm:I just became even that much more aware of the Chinese business practices and scrutinizing what surprise you may be getting in the mail. I want to educate myself on types of glass, especially food grade and heat resistant qualities. Want to be knowledgeable enough to have materials for scratch visual and integrity tests on hand. Perhaps pass that on too. ;)

If their is a more appropriate thread please advise. Otherwise I think it would be wise to inform yourself if you ever bought anything from china. Like say from ebay as another example, to at least be able to make a good visual inspection.

I am waiting for tax returns before anything. Would it be smart to buy adapters from the same dealer who you buy the main piece from? Is any of the DHgate sellers known for scientific glass? What is the distinctions between scientific glass and say borosilicate glass? Feel free to go completely over my head on the subject matter.:whoa:

Would like to hear more about the practice of sellers trading items from other sellers to fill a request overseas. So you buy from glassblower A and get a piece from glassblower F who may use inferior product or have poor QC , all due to some family or back alley trade whatever. The glassblowers here are cohesive like that. Just wouldn't do business in that manner. Welcome to the East.

The d020d from sunshine store is about as reliable as it gets in terms of DHgate class. Not my favorite for vaping because of the remarkably low drag, but an awesome piece. "Scientific glass" simply refers to any type of bubbler/bong/whatever that was created for its function, not for art--which usually means percolators (shaped water diffusers that make bubbles to make the vapor less harsh) and clear glass, because "worked" or colored glass is usually made by glass artists who are focusing more on the art than the function. I wouldn't worry about any type of danger from heat in this glass, no more than any American glass...The larger Chinese companies are not so dissimilar from the American glassblowing companies, save for a certain lack of QC consistency (depends on the seller, etc., avoid Steven & CCG) that is made up for by saving literally HUNDREDS of dollars. Adapters would be smart to get from the same seller for shipping purposes. PM me if you have more questions regarding glass

I think a lot of members have gotten good pieces from CCG & Steven. I don't think they're any worse than the other sellers I have bought from (Kathy and Sunshine store, yingmin, etc). IIRC one member was very irate about one piece from Steven, but statistically this is a very small sample.

Yeah, I mostly said that to pay lip service to those who have gone through a ton of trouble from Steven, which I know has happened. My FC UFO is the nicest glass I've ever owned!

So I just received the G-line to Imperial from HFY Glass aka Phoenix Glass. Compared to my more expensive rigs this one doesn't feel cheap at all. It has nice weight to it, the glass is thick not just on mouthpiece and base. Still some minor imperfections but at this price range I think that's irrelevant. I have a video to contribute on how it functions. I used a dropdown and nail to show how the filtration operates under a lot of restriction. This nail specifically has very restricted flow due to the narrow opening. The pulls I did without the nail were to show function with free flow while pulling the hardest I could. This thing performs like a champ, virtually no splash back whatsoever, maybe a tiny drop after 10 pulls. The filtration works as it should even under restricted airflow. Not even my Matrix percs filtrate this good under slow pulls.

Can anyone recommend any specific online head shops to order glass from? I was thinking about purchasing from dankstop.com but I have yet to hear reviews for them. Thanks.

DHgate would be your cheapest option but for more local (USA) glass dealers are Thick Ass Glass.com, Smokecartel.com, and Retroactivesmokeshop.com are some of the dealers I've bought from.

Great, thanks for the info. Another quick question - do you recommend getting a bubbler/bong that has a 18mm or a 14mm joint? I have an adaptor for both sizes, but I'm wondering if there is a benefit to getting a glass piece that has 18mm as opposed to 14mm for use with a vaporizer.

Thanks

In my opinion, I prefer 18mm for greater airflow. However depending on the size and function of your rig, you may not need 18mm. If it's a decent size rig that you need to clear in one hard pull, 18mm will benefit you more. If it's a small oil rig you'll be fine with 14mm.

Not like it makes a huge difference though, but since I've bought 18mm for years I don't really need to buy adapters so that's another reason for me sticking to 18.

i have searched a good amount but still can not find a cheap 12"-14" Straight Shooter Tube very similar to the YQ by sunshinestore. Its just that the YQ is only 10" tall. Ice pinch is acceptable but no splash guards please. if anyone could provide me a link it would be much appreciated as i have had no luck with finding. any circ/tree downstem sellers too?
