Cheap High Quality Bubbler

I've always thought the cheech brand was made in china, though thinking back on it, I've got no actual basis for that assumption.

I've got no experience with the website you listed, but I absolutely don't trust that listing.

1 - they state the piece isn't as clean as the one in the picture, so
a) that's not a picture of the actual piece
b) they may ship you a slightly dirty piece.
2 - they call it a honeycomb, when it seems to be some kind of inverted showerhead.
I'll cut china sellers a lot of slack with names of percs due to language barriers etc, but assuming that seller is supposed to be a native English speaker, it's a red flag to me.

The design of the piece leaves a bit to be desired IMO, I'd much rather have something like the d020-2--w, but if you like that design I'm pretty sure there's something like that from Kathy or sunshinestore...

Regarding build quality,
So far I've purchased the following pieces:
D020
D020-W
D020-2--W
The virus rig (model number starts with a W)
GB 186 & GB 187 (I may have the numbers wrong, but they're the möbius ion clone and 60b clone)
Fritted ash catcher

No issues with any of them, all good build quality.
The D020 doesn't have fire polished slits, but I knew that going in.
The virus rigs showerhead look a little cheap, but functions perfectly.

The only piece I've had any significant build issues with was the fritted ash catcher I purchased, it had 2 small cracks at the disk, and a pinhole leak or 2 at the joints.

It was only a $10 piece, so I didn't bother getting a refund...

Some other members have had issues with build quality, but I've been very happy so far.

For the price of that 1 used cheech piece, you could get yourself 2-3 brand new china pieces. :2c:

What are 'fire polished slits' and do they make a difference?
Overall, is the cheech glass thing basically a rebranded chinese piece, or does it have anything more going for it?

Slits or cuts that are flame-polished will be clean and clear. If they are not polished they will look frosted and sharp. It is mainly aesthetics but the polishing may make the area of the slits more stable and less likely to crack.

I'm no expert on how they do it, but I believe generally when showerheads (or inlines or trees) have slits as opposed to punched holes, it means that they used some kind of diamond blade or something to cut those slits.

This leaves them with a relatively rough finish, and you can see it by looking at the slits - the edges of them will look frosted instead of smooth and clear/glassy.

With higher quality pieces, the blower will generally heat the slits back up, and those edges will melt a little bit and revert back to a more smooth edge.

I don't really know of any benefit aside from the aesthetics of it, but it is something to note.
Edit: die hard ninja'd me :ninja:

I honestly can't tell ya if Cheech pieces are rebranded china stuff.
That's the impression I got from seeing pics of their pieces online, and seeing their price point, but I've got no facts to back it up, so take it with a grain of salt :)

IMO that piece you posted doesn't have much going for it, but if you like it that's really all that matters... Quite a few members here are quite taken by the looks of the D-022, I personally am not interested in it at all... Different strokes for different folks :)

I went ahead and bought it, it turned out to be a cheech he058.

I personally loved the design of the d020-w-2 and how it'd let you see the vapor fill the chamber, and I've been considering ordering that for a while. I guess i bought the he058 because it resembled the d020-w-2.

Now that wig wag inline recycler looks interesting...

Mind sharing when you placed your order? And did she mark it shipped? Mine has just been processing.

ordered it july 20, shipped in about 20 minutes with tracking number

today is july 28 and it is in my hands, #dhgatelife

edit: remember to copy your tracking number into the USPS website, it's more accurate

here is what the dhgate tracker looks like for me right now (doesn't even say delivered yet)

This is kind of making me interested: Cheap for what it is, hopefully worthy of this thread:

That dealer has some pretty affordable stuff...

A decent amount of the stuff that seller has looks like marked up china stuff to me (pretty sure I spotted a D020-D for $100) - quick, denizens of cheap high quality bubblers - help me find his supplier

At the prices he's charging, I won't be buying anything, but if we can find them from the supplier for 1/2-1/3 of the price, I may just have to pick up a couple of them ...

Curse you GAS :argh:

Clean Clear glass has two pieces I'd be all over with a few mods. They have a Swiss perc that needs a bridge support or a cheaper price. They also have a inline straight neck that needs to be bent. The inline is on my list cause its 18mm just don't like straight necks. Good thing about the inline though I'd its 18mm female.

I want that piece but with no HC and female instead of male. Anyone in touch with alina?

Lol, you do realize this is chinese glass, right? They don't DO custom orders. They pump out a million of them at a time. The sellers you see are not the people who make the piece - they are merely re-sellers.

Given how small refunds offered by some of these sellers for broken glass shipments, I suspect the price they pay for MOST of this glass we discuss is under $5 per piece.

Unless of course, you're willing to buy 100+ of a model, you might have some input on customizing your order

Has any one ever purchased this rig? if so can you tell us if the ends are open (by not knowing what they were doing when blown) on the in-lines? This looks like a sweet rig, but would hate to have a simple chugger perc, basically open ends would be as chuggy as it gets. Looking at my in-line A/C from S.S. you can easily see the end is very rounded and sticks out to the eye easily, not so in this pic. Might have to take one for the team and report if no one chines in.

Things seem to be slowing down. Im waiting on the 2 recycler artists I read about here, they look MARVELOUS!! Hopefully soon both will be pumping out some nice art we can all appreciate!!

For the most part this is true, but not completely. I have personally seen Yingmin and CleanClearGlass both have a collaborative effort with customers.

I've seen Yingmin5 SAY he was going to request more non-branded pieces and a sidecar Gb-187, but I don't think he's actually produced anything new per customer request.

Can't comment on CCG as they seem to be relatively new on this thread

I really want to buy a Gb-187 and a D-022, I messaged Yingmin a little over a month ago asking about the 187 and said about a month, then "soon" when i asked a few days ago. I've lurked for a while now but the GAS is building up, I can't wait till i get my hands on those. But is there any real idea when either of those pieces will show up again?
