Cheap High Quality Bubbler

I just got this one from SunShineStore. I think it's pretty much the same piece that @Ano purchased from Kathy's store. It has a small in-line perc at the bottom that feeds a blue honeycomb diffuser above. The 18mm female joint mates perfectly with my PV Solo gong adapter.

Like @Ano, I had to experiment a bit to get the water level right. I found that 3.5 ounces is perfect, which puts the water level a bit below the blue honeycomb disc.

Compared to my 9-arm perc bubbler, I like the feel of it quite a bit better. The mouth piece is thick, solid, and comfortable. Depending on your strength of inhale, it will chug a little bit, but I never had any issues with water coming up the tube to my mouth.

After using it for a week, I think it's well worth the price + shipping.

It's Sunday, so tonight I'll switch back to my 9-arm perc bubbler, and see if anything else in comparison comes to mind.

It most definitely adds to the percolation. The in-line diffuser generates larger bubbles that evenly spread to the bottom of the honeycomb, which in turn takes the larger bubbles as "input" and generates a multitude of smaller bubbles as "output".

Are the Kathy pieces being made to order? I recall someone else in this thread having their color request honored.

I mentioned that I had my color request honored for the mini rig I purchased from Kathy, but it was listed as being available in pink, purple or green. Not made to order, just proof that she reads the comments section.

Ah and only a few dollars more. Oh well I already ordered so thus will give me a chance to test out Kathy's service as well. If quality is good and if its 10 days or less then that'll do fine. It does look like this sunshine piece is bigger though, maybe about 3 inches taller than the Kathy one with more room between the inline and disc and a taller mouthpiece.

Anybody have (wanna buy) both to compare?

I dont actually own that piece I posted a picture of. I went to the local shop that's selling some of his stuff and snapped that picture. They had about 5 of those on the shelf and I just grabbed one out of the case and took the picture. If you look close, you can see all kinds of goodies in the base below.

I asked him to make me a unit just like that but bigger. Im not really worrying him about it.. when he gets it done, he gets it done.

I'd be interested in a slighter bigger piece with a female joint if the price is not too far inflated for the larger size.

Can someone compare the d020d vs d020w pls (drag flavour etc.) I ordered both but my d020d arrived broken. So disappointed, it looked really well made aswell. I notice it's a little taller n slimmer than the d020w but just by a fraction.

My opinion is my opinion and does not and should not represent the poster's of this forum!

D020 = amazing device (simple)
D022 = My all time favorite (just too have)
D020 - T = Love this thing
D020 - ? = I forgot

awww it looks like I waited too long on that yellow wig wag inline bub,looks like it went up another $10... oh well, it was one that had my eye, but hesitated at the $35 mark, now it's just gone up more. So if you have been on the fence on a piece, prices seem to go up as sales grow so hesitation could cost. If I manage to win my dispute with Kathy over that funky 10mm joint, then I might still consider grabbing it up, but it's moved further down my list of must haves. Not sure why I am so attracted to a piece that won't hold it'self up.

Yeah, thanks for listing that. I looked at it, but I like the variation of color better on the other one... I know color varies from what you see in the photo anyway so it's a mystery what you end up with. I appreciate the link though. They are both very similar.

The first one doesn't offer any special form of percolation, it's basically just a standard open downstem, but the spiral is a bit more impressive looking.

The 2nd one looks ok, I believe at least one or 2 other members have purchased it and were happy.
I personally prefer the look of the honeycomb to turbine sidecar I just picked up, I think it's the D020-2-w or whatever crazy number they've thrown on it...

Me either but was told by another,she was legit. She has some decent mini concentrate WT's... I like this one , looks thick,and small,shouldn't rob flava,nice thick foot and construction looks thick overall. Under 30 not too shabby. Will mate well with my Solo, and seems to be in the effect of d020 where less can to enclose vapor and more straight flow of vapor to the lungs, resulting in a very good tasting rig. 6.20" is about as small as I can go due to my clumsiness with with my G-orilla mits I have seen this at LHS for 125, and it sells. So glad my bro's & sis's are always looking out for the deals,other wise I'd be broke or have 1 rig, and what fun would that be.. If you have the D020-W and just can't stand the small orificed mouthpiece, it can be corrected!!

Was getting ready to use it and just waiting for the rinse to drain out was killing me. So... finally took a torch to it. Nothing too fancy - there's no glass blower's shop here. Heated the hole up to red all the way around with my Benzomatic butane torch. Heated an awl, stuck it in the red hot hole and gently worked the hole more open. It opened very slowly (think more heat would be better, but that's all I had on hand). Trick is to try to keep the whole hole red hot and the tool nearly red hot, too. If the tool isn't hot enough it will steal the heat from the glass.

After a few minutes it looks to be twice as big as it was. Not gorgeous glasswork, but not too bad for a first attempt if I may say so myself! Cooling now. Will clean and give her a run.

Really psyched this worked! I have two of these, and this was the more open of the two. The other one (that resides elsewhere) is really small, but not for long!

For those of you brave enough (or is that stupid enough?) to try this, WEAR LONG SLEEVES AND SAFETY GLASSES just in case. I heated it pretty slowly and made sure my tool was hot before touching it and had no issues. But, that's not to say it couldn't have exploded spraying hot glass all over me and my kitchen.
