I hear ya, not sure why price is so low but $15 for quartz seems like a no-brainer if you are looking to test the waters. You can buy the Sizelove/Gordo collab later.. lol..

Do it dude! The design is so simple and basic yet effective (that's the brilliance of it), it's no wonder that they can be made very cheaply. And for $15, why not?

I understand the price is right but Hemper seems to sell heaps of Chinese products (which I know can still be good in terms of function). There are bubble caps all over DHgate (though this saves one the trouble of finding a cap that fits 30mm). What I want to know is how durable they are. I recall reading that Chadbro makes his caps out of Schott glass, and let me tell you my Terp Trunk has survived some awkward drops.

Be careful assuming that. I think the directional tube will touch the insert for the 30mm. I have a bubble cap that won't work that same reason. I'd get some dimensions for those ball caps before you order.
I've posted the 30mm dimensions in this thread.

Yeah, I have a DHGate knockoff and don't use it with my 20mm V2 cause the piece extending into the bowl is just too long. When I get a chance, there is a little glass shop near me and I'm going to see if they can grind it/cut it down a bit.
In the meantime, I have a Chad Bros Terp Trunk and just ordered a bubble cap from The Summit from the link post a page back or so. All good. The only thing I use my Storm cap for is using the shovel bit to dump crumble, but I don't use it as a cap. Just too fiddly for me.

Just got shipping notice on my 20mm w/ SiC - so about 8 days after I ordered. I also ordered a 14mm female adapter for my other piece and a hurricane cap a couple of days later. According to support, they are sending the joint adapter as well, but the hurricane cap's are being made right now and should be sent out this coming week. Sounds like they've got the supply issues mostly under control! Good thing I just picked up some crumble to break it all in - my bubble cap should be coming in on Monday from The Summit!

I don't know; if you take a q-tip can you get more dust coming off? if something scrapes it more could come off; it's going down your lungs.
I can't tell you it's safe; i'd err on unsafe

I don't think there's much danger of getting any SiC particulates through water.
The insert may get stuck if its more like a disc now that lets the oil run off the sides.

Received my 20mm SiC/Liger yesterday and I am very impressed. The tier 1 polish on the SiC is amazing. I thought that one photo of the mirror polish might have been photoshopped but it really is like holding a mirror. Unreal.
My brand new high5 coil fit on like a glove without having to mess with the coil at all. I'm thinking it could be tighter, but am unsure atm if I wanna mess with that mint coil.
Started at 550 and got pooling so it's ramped up to 570-575 atm and doing pretty good.
Flavor is amazing of course. This thing is great at doing small dabs...however it will pool if you feed it too much. So I was VERY pleased to have went with the 30mm in the beginning. That larger surface area is really beneficial. I was pouring drops of HTE on both and the 30mm was the only one that could keep up and vaporize it properly. The larger surface area the way it spreads the dab increases flavor. The HTE tasted best on the 30.
The Riptide cap was made for the 20mm oh my god! It's friggin' incredible! Fits like a glove and makes the Terp Trunk seem like a POS. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $40 on a Riptide if you have or get a 20mm. The Terp Trunk is inferior as far as function and flavor. The multiple air holes really makes a difference. You're taste buds will be in heaven.
I think both serve a purpose. I'm so happy to have both in my arsenal.
Overall I am VERY pleased and can't thank @CCA710 enough. The wait was truly worth it.

Anybody having issues hearing from cca still. Been trying for 2 weeks just to see when my sic will go out but have been ignored. I don't care if it's next month just want to be told something rather than ignored for 2 weeks. What's the best way to communicate with them.

It's great for both sizes. Fits like a glove for the 20. Once you get the seal on the 30 once it's easy to replicate. The way the holes push the vapor it basically flattens the dab and you usually get no pooling.
What I find really fascinating is how it effects the flavor. Back to back dabs with the Terp Trunk and Riptide; the Riptide will always win. It seems to open up the terps.
Gordo really came up with a killer design. I bet the ball cap collabs are fun to use.
EDIT: Looks like there is a XL version! https://allglass.com/products/gordo-scientific-xl-riptide-turbine-carb-cap I have emailed to confirm if it is infact larger than the original.
My wallet is sure getting a beating this month!

You sure you didn't get forgotten? I got a mis-shipment of a 20mm sic that I sent back and it took awhile to get their attention to get that sorted out.

There have been times when I have had more contact with Josh and perhaps any observations I have shared from those exchanges, as well as my general industry knowledge gave you the impression? Have not heard from him at all in recent times unfortunately.
