CCA Liger banger V3.0

Hi all. Figured I would finally come out of the shadows :).

First, thank you to everyone that has contributed to the thread. What a great read (and long, but I got through it all!). I've been fence for years now about getting a nail/rig setup and this thread finally gave me the shove I needed. @Danksta , I think your enthusiasm may have actually pushed me over the edge .

I placed my order right near the end of February. 20mm w/ SIC insert. Based on the last update I read from Josh in this thread, I'm crossing my fingers for a shipping notice this week or the next.

This will be my first enail. Hell it is my first anything besides a portable/pen type devices I have now. I just got my first piece of glass last week that I'm really enjoying! My enail has arrived: Auber RDK-300. Now I just await the final piece. Very excited.

Special thanks to @Baron23 for helping me decide on the RDK-300. @mutten840 for the advice on the RDK-300, and the detailed instructions on to spread your coils and setup the liger. Feel very lucky to have this pool of experience to fall back on since this is all new to me.

Hello forum. New to the team but super excited. I placed my order middle of feb and still waiting. Please can someone tell me it's normal not to get response emails back. I am worried I paid and might not even get an email answer update. I also been following the back up orders and paid extra for two inserts SiC and Quartz so I can get one quicker than the other. Please I am in emergency need of help. Broke my Galen banger and waiting for liger 3.0. I have my order number ready please someone help not sure what to do. I apologize for anyone else waiting for their stuff. I am just a fan of the liger and follow for a while now. Jump the gun when I had the money and have been super excited for it. Please any update would be appreciate or eta soon.
Thank you.
Not that I can help, but I also ordered over a month ago. I understand he's a one-man operation and has supply chain issues on the inserts, but it's a frustrating experience as a consumer. I received someone else's order and had to ship it back to Josh. He said he'd send me my order last week but hasn't replied to my e-mails. I'm going to give him until the end of the month (for at least an e-mail reply). I hope we both get our orders.

I ordered mine near the end of February as well and the wait time came as a surprise. I inquired about my order and he told me 7-14 days lead time which I'm at the end of now. It's frustrating considering there's no mention of this anywhere on the website. I'm hoping I see my shipping confirmation soon, I was really hoping for a better experience considering the cost of the nail (especially when you add Canadian exchange rates to it) I was thinking about ordering more pieces to complete the set for my carb cap and joint adapters, definitely a sic insert, maybe even a different bucket but this is causing a bit of concern.

Everything is made to order. The wait time is mentioned on the checkout screen. While I can understand peoples frustration at the same time this isn't amazon... Sometimes a great product takes a bit of time to get to you.

Also as a side note @CCA710 I was looking at getting a 30mm and when I rang it up with sic, quartz and storm cell cap I got the $99 bug again, just a heads up!

Very happy to hear your enthusiasm! I also ordered a 20mm/SiC last week so I will be along for the ride with you. I'm really looking forward to it. The testers seemed to prefer the 20mm overall and I'm hoping it's more efficient than the 30mm.

Hopefully we get an update from @CCA710 soon. He was expecting the inserts in last week, but I'm guessing that didn't happen.

I hear you. If it wasn't for everyone praising the 20mm, I honestly would have went for the 16mm. Since I've always used concentrates with portable type units, even the 16mm has a drastically larger bucket than what I currently have :)

I think I remember reading that @CCA710 had no plans to release a sapphire bucket for the 16mm, and that finally settled it for me. While I don't plan on going the Sapphire route anytime soon, I do like that it is a future option.

Minor little mystery issue occurring that I want everyone's feedback on. To start, I am diligent about keeping my rig and nail clean. I clean the insert and the end of spout that goes into the rig (not sure of the technical name) every day. I do a full breakdown and cleaning of my liger in ISO every week. Well, last night I noticed the liger was putting off more smoke and lasting longer than than its usual amount of residual smoke/vapor between hits. I had just done a thorough cleaning a few days prior and was not doing a heavy amount of seshing either. I did the standard heat to +800 and wait and after a few minutes it disappeared. I take a hit of my melt and the issue immediately comes back and persists. So I clean the insert and the entry way to the intake tube and turn it up to 900 this time. The smoke burns off again for a few minutes. It goes away, I go to bed, and when I turn on my nail this morning, it starts happening AGAIN. But pouring off smoke. And I haven't even taken a hit since last night's cleaning. So I do another more thorough cleaning and turn it up to max this time. The smoke burns off for a solid 3+ minutes.

So what gives? I understand about residual built up resin, but I have no idea how it could seemingly be totally clean, have no hits taken out of it, then all of a sudden start pouring smoke again.

I think it's the residue that gets built up over time. I just recently spent an hour getting mine perfectly clean. The very beginning of the intake needs to be kept very clean I've noticed to prevent that issue and preserve taste. Mine still isn't as clean as I'd like. I think I need to take a torch to that section. No amount of soaking or qtips get it clean.

I recommend submerging the Liger parts in iso for a soak. I heat the alcohol up as well but haven't tested if that is making a big difference. After a short soak of ten minutes or so at least I rinse in hot water and use q-tips. I do this twice a week and haven't had any kind of problems. Stuff gets totally clean. I don't think q-tipping alone will get it done.

Q-Tipping alone isn't enough. I follow the pattern of using water and 91% alcohol at 215f to clean up my Quartz insert when I am done. Gets a pretty good job

Once the 14/18mm adapter starts to drip reclaim is my hint to clean it up; after a day or so the air pathway is reduced and it's pretty hard to enjoy

This is quite possible. The intake tube that connects to the bucket on the Ligers gets unbelievably gunked with rust-like build-up over time. This shit WILL NOT CLEAN WITH ISO ALONE!

Use iso soaked qtips to scrub as thoroughly as possible. I also find that wrapping cotton around a flat dabber and soaking with iso is useful, sometimes more effective as the dabber is harder and more aggressively scrubs. Torching is sometimes required to get it clean. Move the flame around as you heat the intake tube so that you do not overheat any one part of it and ruin the anodized finish. Do not torch til it is red hot, just until vapor stops coming off of it and you can't see any oil residue inside. Qtip whilst warm, but not hot after this and most of the carbon should come out.

Pressurized steam and ultrasonic cleaners will make cleaning this part much easier still.

I don't believe that anodized metal and PBW play nice together...could be wrong...:shrug::nod:

Crap! That sucks. It does so well eating mystery reclaim/buildup on glass.

Fantastic for glass...but, I think I remember someone using it on their anodized Space Case grinder and the results were not pretty...

I finally got my account confirmed so I can post here, I've had my 30mm since right after Christmas. I used a quartz insert the first couple weeks and have been using the SiC insert ever since. I do the regular q-tip cleaning to finish up after the hits, sometimes finishing with a wet q-tip at my dab temp if needed (563F, SiC insert only). But, I have also accidentally done the hit-it-and-forget-it many times now. Soaking it in 99% ISO just doesn't do much when it gets baked on like that.

All it takes to make the insert like new again is a little baking soda. With the insert cooled down put some baking soda in it (at least enough to cover the bottom, more than ~1/4 full and it will just spill out), and then use a wet q-tip to scrub the insert. It will look new again in a few seconds! Rinse and repeat as necessary. I also clean my titanium parts in roughly the same way, it works extremely well.

I love my Liger's rainbow anodizing and would never use high coil temps to clean it. I've haven't taken the Liger over 700F, normal use for me has been 560-580. So far I haven't had any need to use a torch on my inserts. If I want to be a pyro I can hit one of the old quartz bangers, but that isn't nearly as satisfying as hitting the Liger.

Stop wasting time cleaning your pipes and try one of the many additives out there like https://piecewater.com/piece-water-3-bottles/

I can go from dabbing strain a to b to c in the same session and get a pretty full flavor profile on each one.

Wow that is expensive when you can just get some cranberry extract to add to your distilled water. :)

Or just use the water and leave it at that. The problem with additives is that they get into your reclaim which then is less useful afterwards. Cranberry juice is not so bad because it is at least fit for human consumption. The Piece Water is not (and labelled as such on the package). Piece water has a taste/smell to it which I don't like. It adds a taste to inhaling through the rig even when you don't actually put anything in the dish. I got it once for free but I stopped using it almost immediately because of these reasons. The reclaim in my rig was fucked up when I cleaned it. I had to toss it!

I do agree with the above member that raising temp on coils for cleaning is definitely not advisable.

For the record I just use distilled water.

Hello all...
I saw some discussion about PBW and the anodized finish on the ligers.
I am here to say it will totally destroy it.
I boiled my v2 and added some,.about a teaspoon to a quart maybe and it went from rose/gold to all differant colors in a matter of seconds in the boiling water to where it settled somewhere between like puke green and shit brown....i got some light grit wet/dry sandpaper and got it completely titanium colored...which is not an option oddly....its what I prefer anyway...even the silver is anodized...it was a meticulous bitch getting it all uniform titanium but yea,...PBW and anodized titanium don't get along too well.

I wanna see your non anodized Liger lol.

The air intakes can get gunked up with some hard crusty stuff after a few dozen grams for sure. I use a spear tipped dab tool that is roughly the same sized at the tube and just ream it out before an iso soak. I used to torch this piece on my v2 but I figured this would make it last longer and not ruin the finish. I would not resort to heavy chemicals, good ole elbow grease and low heat work well.

To those with outstanding orders you most likely ordered a SiC insert. Hopefully not much longer and we are discussing a little something extra for those having to wait long periods of time for their insert. Sorry for the inconvenience. On a positive note the new supplier is coming right along creating all of the machining tools to become CCA's new SiC fabricator and hopefully fulfillment issues will be a thing of the past. The current supplier isn't up to snuff.

Now here is some glass porn of my new Hondo piece. Carry on :)

Oh and a new carb cap and drop down to complete the set, I will let you know how they work out with the Liger.

There's other things than this; other additives that are cheaper or more expensive. But it's rather the point of you can add extracts to your water and save your time.

I haven't had much of a taste/smell off of it. I am curious about the not fit for human consumption little .. It works; I wouldn't say it's the greatest stuff in the world. There's other brands I just haven't bothered spending the money to try other stuff

I definitely am okay with waiting the specified time. The issue is that I am way past the specified lead time and it's radio silence on CCA's end. At this point even if I were to cancel or chargeback through my credit card, I wouldn't get the shipping cost I paid to send him back the order he mistakenly sent to me.

I just want to know what is going on. Don't get me wrong. I love supporting small businesses and the little guy. At a certain point though, I do expect some level of communication/service. I hope my situation is an outlier here.
