The Body will automatically change just as the app will. so in other words the body will automatically detect the dry herb chamber and switch the preset temps to the dry herb presets

I think you mentioned a few pages back that there was an extra...something that that base detects. From the atomizer if I remember right? Is that connection or whatever activated that able to be attended to after its use to reduce residue that could effect the atomizers life or the bases ability to recognize each atty separately.

If I'm not making any sense I'm sorry lol

Is there any other place than Focus's website to get atomizers for now? I'm in Canada, ordered from the $175 cream city vapes deal, but they did not have any atomizers. Focus's shipping is very high for Canada. Any plans to get Canadian distributors for this stuff? I'd love to have a backup atomizer without paying twice as much for shipping.

To answer my own question incase someone else wanted an extra atomizer in Canada, I found a place that has them for 12.50$ USD shipping. They currently have a 15% sale, REMEMBER19, that worked for me (total 25$ USD per atomizer before shipping). Better than 35$ shipping on Focus's site + Sale.

If you turn your Carta on without an atomizer installed, the app defaults to dry herb settings. If you screw in an oil atty, the app interface instantly changes to oil settings. Unscrew it again and watch the app go right back to dry herb. Screw the dry herb atty in and it obviously remains in dry herb mode. So it's smarter than you'd think! Certainly a lot better than the intricate click-puzzle that is the Switch.

So have been talking to customer service about an atty dying. They asked me if I use the app and Use the atomizer test within the app...am I missing something or is there an actual atomizer test option with the app that I never noticed??

Wow. I didn't expect this much Engeenering in such a small device.

I haven't been able to get around to breaking out an old android to install the app since the default temps do me just fine.

Thanks for answering my question @freddiegibbs

I was wondering how many of you out there plan to or already have a spare set of back-up batteries for their Carta? I guess it depends on how you plan on utilizing it's size. For me Hiking and otherwise public places so it seems like a no brainer. @FocusV do you plan on offering/restocking them on your website soon?

It does such a great job at low volts it makes me think these have to be 20a 18350's (if I had to guess.)

There are SO MANY fake 18350's out there and I thought the 18650 market was tainted.

If I read his most recent "best battery: mAh/CDR-mAh balance/CDR" Mooch stated that he won't be putting up the charts for 18350's (and another format that didn't concern me) because of so many fakes and sub-par cells just reappearing over and over with different wraps. To the point that in a different article they said that companies are actually wrapping them with shells that say they have different (always better of course) specs to get rid of stock.

This makes me wonder if I can even trust the only truly reliable sources for high drain batteries these days anyway but that's just me wanting to tinker. As I found with the TUBO that sometimes a battery can make a huge difference in preformance but (and I hope this is ok to ask) I have to ask if you had a specially designed cell made for the Carta similar to how Dyson requested the VTC5A from Sony except wanted a few improvements that lead to the VTC5D. If you can't answer that for secrecy purposes i'm sorry. Just curious cause these little things have a LOT of kick to them, even at low volts.

Yea coming from before the 18650 days i remember having the initial conversation with factories who would offer you 4 options.

GRADE A, GRADE B, GRADE C, GRADE D

Sadly the majority of vape companies at that point took the cheapest route and put out a lot of Grade C batteries, Most of which would just toss there own wrap on a 25amp battery call it 40amp and something stupid like 5000mah. Now its not a whole lot different except they dont sale as well. I think most people have caught on to what batteries should be.

For 18350's we had to go the custom route for ours since the only other options where 700mah / 900mah but those wouldn't get me more then 12 dabs on a full charge. I think there are 2 other companies out there that produce a legit 1000mah or 1200mah 18350 but i havent tested them myself.

As an old school vaper, Batteries are still a big thing to me.
These are good, reliable and well tested 18350's that work great with the carta.

* also where you buy batteries is as important as the batteries themselves.
trusted vendors like Ilumn, imrbatteries, etc. go to great lengths to insure the batteries they carry are authentic. Fakes are always dangerous.

Dude that's nuts about the start up days! If they were getting Grade C (or 3 for this conversation) then a lot of the time they possibly were giving out a even lower grade battery...compared to what their standards may be on what puts it in a certain category other than mAh/Amperage. But to get to my point they say a lot of "New" batteries are actually technically used and can be sold in a similar fashion of a grading/value system even in today'srket, just to a minimalist degree.

One of the biggest ways to that this ends up happening is that lets say a company pays the bare bones cost to buy a shell and all the fixings needed to make a 18650 from the ground up, pay that manufacturer and use that batch of said batteries for a determined amount of cycles (depending on testing to see after how many drains/recharges it takes for their purpose until it no longer functions at the 96% and above or whatever their minimum requirements for the battery are not longer met. Then sell the battery back to the manufacturer or another source at a discounted price.

Really interesting stuff and if some of his videos weren't close to an hour long then I'd go look for it again but damn is it hard to find a few lines of conversation in like 45 minutes of talking and puffing massive E-Juice clouds lol.

Edit: @FocusV that is awesome that the Carta has it's own custom battery =)

@Dragonlore those Cells look awesome but with a CDR if only 10a I would think that the preformance (especially the last 50% or so) would suffer due to the lack of amps in the cell that the the Carta requires. Have you tried them first hand against the factory batteries?

Checks out :D

Thanks for the link, I'll definitely pick a few up. I missed those the last time I was looking for a 18350. Thanks man.

Those cells are fine. = or better then the ones that come with the Carta. Highly doubt they are True ”custom” made for The carta, probably just a custom battery wrap of the above cells or Aspire 18350’s if they still make 18350’s.

*** I believe the Aspire have been dc'd. And the vapcell has been discredited:

So based on this the Keeppower's are the ones to go with ... as other members have just attested to.

Edited to add:

Here's a list of reputable battery sellers courtesy of @TheDudeNextDoor. I can only personally vouch for the 1st 3 US based companies.

Ok I'm gonna sound really old here because I've literally had like 3 cellphone plans throughout my entire life span and every time I come back into the store I'm the guy who just says give me the most reliable phone that has what I need.

That being said I'm wondering if this Galaxy Sky Pro 7 with a Android 6.0.1 (or .0.2?) Would support the app and if not couldnt I just upload a newer version of the Andriod system onto that phone to get the right OS just on a different phone?

What temps you guys find good for using semi viscous Distilates?

@seapickle "I don't vape very often but when I do, I vape Dos Equis I mean Sauce"

I'm sorry that was the first thing that came into my head.

I know a lot of Dabbing is experimentation and preferences so thanks for the heads up. I don't mind wasting a little bit trying to find a starting point/temp but I seem to have a hard time finding consistency. Especially when it came to heating bangers with a torch so I really like the "Smart" aspect that I don't have with dabbing lol.

That being said my first subscription Atomizer showed up in like 18 hours after a little over a day after ordering it. Thank you @FocusV for the lightning delivery.

Edit: I just noticed this atomizer is a little off because I can't get it to seat the Ti insert without it having a decent amount of wiggle room where as my stock is seated well enough that it barely moves.

I came to the thread a bit late but I did read enough of the v2 atomizer comments to see that the Quartz Insert will just naturally be a bit loose for the time being.

I haven't had the chance to try it out yet but was my first atomizer just a perfectly build and shaped atomizer that the Ti bucket is secured at the top and bottom with like no wiggle room when secured in the atomizer?

This one can be lifted slightly when

I guess to give an example the original insert doesn't move around if I take a q tip and go around it gently but the bottom will move barely enough to show a change in the reflection of light at the bottom.

The one I just recieved Ti insert will move at the bottom so that the insert will follow the circular motion of the q tip around the deck.

It's early on the west coast! I don't know many big companies that answer the phone before 8, let alone small ones. It sounds like they're all caught up on warranty stuff too, so hopefully your new thing will show up soon.

The ceramic is nice. I like it a little better than the quartz. You can see how thin it is compared to the Peak cup:

b3u23p.jpg

Rosin at 572-590 in ceramic is the best way I've had it in the Carta. I have to use it more to be sure, but so far it seems to be producing better vapor in the atty with walls than the one without, even though the cup has a fitted bottom. That's the same issue I was having with the quartz. You also have to be real careful screwing it in - the feel of the ceramic cup rubbing against the ceramic heating plate gives the impression that either could crack if you don't tighten the cap very sensitively.
You able to torch that cup clean?
