Tokin' Away Since 1968

Just because people aren’t wasting their money at the dispensary doesn’t mean the market isn’t flourishing.

It’s called the free market. Free from 30% taxes, free from lining the pockets of corrupt politicians who sell our state right out from under us. Free from mandated lab tests that instill false confidence in mediocre-at-best products.

Every week they have theIr spin doctors at the media spin up some half-truth about why nobody is going to California dispensaries. Always trying to hide from the reality that the people have spoken, and they don’t want what they’re selling. That one from the other day about the “cartel” was even more pathetic and desperate. They have to fabricate a “terrorist” just to sell some weed, they need a Smolett to pimp their hemp 😂😂
And so you prefer the folks who pour chemicals into our national forests. And so you prefer supporting the Mafia, which uses the money to promote their female prostitution enslavement. And so you prefer folks who start fires in our drought-stricken communities. And so you prefer to put unknown hazardous chemicals into your lungs, sprayed by people who couldn't care less if you get sick and die. This is what you support by hating taxes, hating regulation, and loving illegal weed.

Excellent article! I live in Oklahoma and knew we had lax weed laws, but didn't realize how it would impact the rest of the country.

If I read it correctly, a grower's license cost $50,000,000 in Connecticut, and anybody can get one for $2500 in Oklahoma, plus farms and buildings are relatively cheap here. It's the wild west all over again. Yeee-Hawww!

I'm guessing corrupt legislatures in a lot of states intended to tightly regulate the growing/dispensing rights, for sale to the highest donor, etc. Sounds like another way to avoid free enterprise and help the well-connected establish a perpetual tax on poor folk. I have to wonder if Oklahoma leadership planned it this way or just stepped into it.

RICHLAND COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) – Someone in Richland County expecting a “gift” by air, and not the kind Santa delivered a few days ago, will now have to go the sheriff’s department to claim it.

Richland County Sheriff Captain Donald Zehner said a drone carrying marijuana, cell phones, and tobacco crashed into a home on Evergreen Avenue in Mansfield Monday evening.

Funny how they don’t want to perform tests on any of the cannabis people currently have access to and are already buying.

Not sure who would genuinely find the DEA as being a credible research partner in the first place, when they still assert that cannabis causes schizophrenia and induces psychosis. In case you forgot the DEA, FDA, and CDC have yet to find cigarettes dangerous enough to remove from market, despite conservatively killing half a million Americans every year....

And too notice how the only approved testing is of the smoke by product of the plant ..... that is like trying to test a tomato by throwing it in an incinerator LOL

These lobbyist enforcement agencies have made it very clear that they hate vaporizing and don’t consider it to be beneficial in any way.

The ecig industry was worlds bigger than ours and they crushed it like a bug.

I'm can't read the article without paying them.
Will some kind soul cut and paste it here?

Hi @invertedisdead, hope you are doing ok mate. I don't think they hate vaporizing, that would imply having principals and a position. They were instructed by their puppet masters, big tobacco and state governments losing money on the Master Settlement Agreement to destroy the independent vape industry. Vaping is ok now...

The FDA approved the three tobacco-flavored e-cigarette products made by R.J. Reynolds Vapor Company, saying they could “benefit addicted” smokers quit or cut down on cigarette use after looking into R.J. Reynolds’ data, the agency said in a statement. (article link)

Thanks @Berzzerkker for your kind offer.
@shredder 's summary is sufficient, thanks man.

No surprises there.
I find this bit particular interesting.

The FDA approved the three tobacco-flavored e-cigarette [...] after looking into R.J. Reynolds’ data. After ignoring all the data from UK national health services which is a few years old already. They concluded it was a good idea to have Vape Shops in hospitals. They also ignored all the independent research including the ground breaking work of Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos. BUT hell yes we believe R.J Reynolds 'cause they have such a great track record with the truth as it applies to smoking.

Not a Vapman “beta tester”
I would not get too excited about this. It’s a single study and it was in vitro (petri dish) rather than in vivo (human subjects.) Still, promising.

Study identifies potential test for cannabis impairment

“Our research represents a novel direction for impairment testing in the field,” says lead author Jodi Gilman, investigator in the Center for Addiction Medicine, MGH, and associate professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. “Our goal was to determine if cannabis impairment could be detected from activity of the brain on an individual level. This is a critical issue because a ‘breathalyzer’ type of approach will not work for detecting cannabis impairment, which makes it very difficult to objectively assess impairment from THC during a traffic stop.”

“Identification of acute impairment from THC intoxication through portable brain imaging could be a vital tool in the hands of police officers in the field,” explains senior author and principal investigator A. Eden Evins, founding director of the Center for Addiction Medicine. “The accuracy of this method was confirmed by the fact impairment determined by machine learning models using only information from fNIRS matched self-report and clinical assessment of impairment 76 percent of the time.”

“Companies are developing breathalyzer devices that only measure exposure to cannabis but not impairment from cannabis,” says Gilman. “We need a method that won’t penalize medical marijuana users or others with insufficient amounts of cannabis in their system to impair their performance. While it requires further study, we believe brain-based testing could provide an objective, practical and much needed solution.”

Are stoned drivers are causing a lot of wrecks and fatalities, compared to alcohol? Are the authorities looking for a way to cash in with big fines similar to a DUI charge?

IMO vaping weed while driving is potentially more dangerous as a distraction, sort of like texting while driving. That could be treated like a moving traffic violation.

Anyone can overdo it, and some newbies might be extremely dangerous after a few tokes, but a serious inebriation charge should be backed up by telltale behavior, like weaving, inability to communicate or stop laughing, etc.

I'm guessing the laws will be written by straight assholes, probably assholes that smoke cigarettes while driving.....

Here’s an interesting side note: The Oregon researchers reported that THCA, the raw form of THC, showed similar promise in their computer model. But because THCA is a federally illegal substance, and the scientists must abide by federal research funding rules at their institutions, they couldn’t move forward and test actual THCA in cell assays. THCA may be just as promising as CBDA and CBGA, but we don’t know because of federal marijuana prohibition.

The key word here is promising. Not proven. And even the word promising is a stretch. In scientific terms, the Oregon study is interesting—these findings are meant to spur further research, perhaps using lab mice. We’re miles away from studies that test the effectiveness of these cannabinoids in actual humans.

This study specifically called out CBDA and CBGA in part because studying forms of THC is still prohibited by our dumbfuck government for some reason.
